GunitMakaveli, I am in par with you, but we differ on one account. The competition is bent in favour of MV. Check out the Premiership playoffs alone (just ONE FACTOR of many). You will notice two things. The last 3 to 4 games MV play at home. The last game MV play NZ - just in case of a close Premiership run (as happened this last season). MV were playing poorly, losing to the bottom 4 clubs time and time again. When they saw they were in sight of title, they made the most of the last games.
What difference does it make that we play against Wellington (not NZ) in the last round? The Phoenix are a great team, so how is playing WP a factor?

All of you seem to forget for Christiano's red card that we only see the incident, and not the lead up to it. The linesman must have seen Christiano doing something that showed that it was intentional. And it was, if it was anyone else i'd have said it might not have been, but thats no accident when Vargas is on the receiving end.

was adelaide really that good? Any team that parks the bus infront of the goal is gonna make it hard for any team to score but have it alot easier on the counter. Also prior to the cristiano red card addelaide got no shots away but yet melbourne had a great chance in wards chance so i don't see how adelaide were looking better.

Regarding every other game other than tonight then yes, you could be considered heroes or champions or whatever. But tonight, you were NOT heroes or legends. You are premiers, but that doesn't mean you put in a premiership winning effort.
I think Melbourne put in a fantastic effort, but once again, in a game where Adelaide closed down their backline superbly, it was never going to be a match where a team would dominate.

We have done well this season...and it will follow through.
Vidmar's change to a more midfield structured game worked like a charm. Shutting down Hernandez really worked in our favour because he is a big play maker, and a danger to the opposition. It definitely wasn't the defensive football we've seen from Adelaide in the past and I think if we put in this effort for the previous games against everyone, not just Melbourne, we'd have one bit of silverware in the cabinet but I guess it's just not meant to be.
A couple of decent results, but realistically, it is hard for Australian clubs to compete when other clubs have no salary cap.
Given that, Merrick should add an extra dimension to his gameplan and attack a little more.
With Hernandez at his side, it's made our game a lot more attractive, but he has just played his last game for Victory, so in the ACL, I think you might see us struggle once again.

Encore246, The AU were illegally penalised by having their STRIKER taken out at the 10 minute mark. This was REVOKED by FFA ... it was illegal!!! As for MV, they should NEVER have been in the GF. They lost to all the bottom teams. AND NZ kicked their arse on the last game. BREEZE did NOT give NZ the deserved penalty, which would have changed the texture of the game. GunitMakaveli, I am in par with you, but we differ on one account. The competition is bent in favour of MV. Check out the Premiership playoffs alone (just ONE FACTOR of many). You will notice two things. The last 3 to 4 games MV play at home. The last game MV play NZ - just in case of a close Premiership run (as happened this last season). MV were playing poorly, losing to the bottom 4 clubs time and time again. When they saw they were in sight of title, they made the most of the last games.

All of you seem to forget for Christiano's red card that we only see the incident, and not the lead up to it. The linesman must have seen Christiano doing something that showed that it was intentional. And it was, if it was anyone else i'd have said it might not have been, but thats no accident when Vargas is on the receiving end.
This is far from the first time Christiano's been booked for a high elbow, and its about time he got properly punished for it.
Its a shame he let his team down though.

the acl is a year away...hopefully melbourne will be attracting a better side then what they have now for the acl, because the acl is becoming a lot more prestigous...adelaide got some many good players because of it for last acl...why shouldn't melbourne. We need an attacking australian team to dominate. Why not melbourne, even if they are cunts!

That said Galekovic should've got a yellow for running 30 yards up the park just to push Allsopp, that type of behaviour should not be encouraged. Its the referees job to decide, not vigilante hero Galekovic.

That game has so many talking points. Those 2 yellow cards United (Ognenovski and Dodd) got was the most stupidest thing, even more so than fat-boy's sending off (Cristiano).
The referee was just handing out yellow and red cards.

The guys absolute rubbish, and he's always flashed far too many cards far too quickly.
I seriously think hes the prime reason the yellow card limit on the final series was lifted to three this season.

Honestly i believe Christiano deserved that red card.
Who in their right mind would think any elbow from Christiano hitting Rodrigo Vargas was an accident? Just because hes getting more subtle doesn't mean he isn't dirty as fuck, and that he shouldn't get punished for it.
Also, i hope we see video proof of the allsopp incident sometime soonish, cause i still have no idea what that was for.
Overall it was a damn close game, and really either sides could've won it had they put the chances in.

Firstly, I AM A MELBOURNE VICTORY MEMBER!
Secondly, it is our job to make our platers feel like heroes, champions, legends, premiers etc.
However, as I said before, being a winner means respecting the opposition's effort, especially tonight when the game was tight, with neither team ever having a clear advantage.
Victory supporters have no obligation to make Adelaide feel good for LOSING (get a dictionary).
We should be humble. Get that?

But espiecially 2 Travis Dodd he really led by example after Cristiano got sent off. He played as a striker, right midfielder, defender and everything else, lol.
I felt so sorry 4 him at the end when he just was lying on the ground with his hands on his head.
T.Dodd if u can just improve your finishing u will b a top player.

was adelaide really that good? Any team that parks the bus infront of the goal is gonna make it hard for any team to score but have it alot easier on the counter. Also prior to the cristiano red card addelaide got no shots away but yet melbourne had a great chance in wards chance so i don't see how adelaide were looking better.

Regarding every other game other than tonight then yes, you could be considered heroes or champions or whatever. But tonight, you were NOT heroes or legends. You are premiers, but that doesn't mean you put in a premiership winning effort.

I think Melbourne put in a fantastic effort, but once again, in a game where Adelaide closed down their backline superbly, it was never going to be a match where a team would dominate.
Adelaide had to play like they did tonight, because their previous plan didn't work.
So good coaching by Vidmar.
Merrick stuck with the status quo.
We have done well this season...and it will follow through.
Both teams played well.
It was a great Grand Final.
Both teams should be proud of their effort.

Yep I agree.
Vidmar's change to a more midfield structured game worked like a charm. Shutting down Hernandez really worked in our favour because he is a big play maker, and a danger to the opposition. It definitely wasn't the defensive football we've seen from Adelaide in the past and I think if we put in this effort for the previous games against everyone, not just Melbourne, we'd have one bit of silverware in the cabinet but I guess it's just not meant to be.

Adelaide playing attacking is the reason you made the Asian League Champs Final and Melbourne didn't.
Melbourne played too defensively, while Adelaide just went for it.
The Grand Final was not spectacular...it was a strategic Grand Final.

Same here...last time was terrible.
A couple of decent results, but realistically, it is hard for Australian clubs to compete when other clubs have no salary cap.
Given that, Merrick should add an extra dimension to his gameplan and attack a little more.
With Hernandez at his side, it's made our game a lot more attractive, but he has just played his last game for Victory, so in the ACL, I think you might see us struggle once again.
