@TheCrazy243 i had it done almost 2 months ago now i can tell u i'm glad i've had it done i can llready ride on my skateboard abit again it took me 1-2 weeks to regain my full walking ability's takes about 2-3 weeks until the pain starts to go away too ;-)
only bad thing about it is that at a certain spot on my knee i cn burn it or cut it without feeling since they cut trough the nerves there(this will take about 1-2years to come back they told me)
@MassiveDuBZz I had my operation done almost 6 months ago. My doctor said that the feeling in the epidermis will come back in 6 or 7 months. Now I can feel almost 100% of the contact in the skin. Don't worry it'll come back sooner :)
But i'm afraid I had a slightly different arthroscopic operation. there is onli one /about 4 cm/ cut about 5cm below the knee cap. And 2 holes from which the arthrospopic tools entered in my knee /and one for the drain/.
Oh joy! I tore both of my acls in high school a week before I was going to have my second one reconstructed (that did get fixed eventually) I tore the first knee I had fixed, again! Now 12 years later I am looking to finally get the cursed knee fixed. Not looking forward to it.
@sajjmenlegend i had ACL surgery one month ago , and dont worry the swelling will be disappeared when the quadriceps become more stronger , all the pain and the swelling will be disappeared , TRUST ME
hai to evry one i done this surgery last jun 20 th 2010 god great i am geting better after surgery but some of problums i am faceing bcz from september lot of pain starts from the joints like some nerves pulling like pain and i cant walk properly about this pain guys any one can advise me why its happends @sajjumenon
@sajjmenlegend did you undergo physio therapy to build up enough muscles around your knee to support it? is it still swollen? when do you have the pain (movement? after resting?)? I got my surgery 3 weeks before you in may and I re-started cross-country running last week. But everyone is different..
Well I had mine done two days ago and I have to say nowadays it's a lot easier then it is shown in this video. Of course I was half sleeping all the time but all this procedure is made more automatic and it last 2-3h (mine was 2h) Well If anybody is afraid of this surgery - it's not big deal you feel big pain only first date after surgery, however they gave you painkillers as well so just relax and wait for rehebilitation :)
Did mine yesterday with Hamstring Harvest type. Exactly what happened I have no idea. I am an active badminton + soccer player. I know it hurts mentally a lot when we cant get back into shape. However, think positively that we still need to walk for another 20-80 years regardness we are making a million for a single match. Anyway, cheer up and think positive this is for the long run....
I had this done at Christmas there, this exact procedure, I take it from the MRI the screws are fine for airport security and possible future MRIs again?
They still do it this way, but its all up to the doctor and how they prefer to slice and dice you.. Every doctor is different from surgery to your phyiscal therapy program.. Reason why they dont take it from patella is doctors dont want you to have that hallow feeling in your knee cap since thats the tendon they take it from and also they want you to start moving your knee immedately. which is easier if Doc didnt take it from patella.. Injuried 7/09 Surgery 11/09.
@tindothan, they do indeed still do it this way as Im having the hamstring harvest type done in march. It really seems like it depends on the surgeon as to what type of surgery they prefer. AFL players generally have this type done and that is a very demanding game on the knees. I think either way, you'll never be the same anyhow. Bitch of an injury. Bitch of an op. But still getting better.
they dont do it this way anymore its not very helpful for athletic people who do sports. they now take part of your patella tendon with some bone plug on each end and drill a hole threw your knee where the acl is sapose to be and put that in and scew it.
i had this srgry at 13 and my daughter tore her acl at 13 playin fastpitch softball...been a year and shes fine but i would be scared if these guys did our srgries...it looks as if its old like caveman days...with hammers, chisels and actual screwdrivers...drills were used here where i.m from...wonder if this is old or just arcaic looking(sp?)
the opposite is true! only if you can see all landmarks and find the optimal graft position under direct vision you are garanteed to have the best results.....
the problem is that most surgeons can do this kind of surgery only if the have one hand on the scope... and have only one hand left for the manipulation of the insturments.....
is this method done in 2011?

I am not sure if this is the method they still follow, but my knee didn't look scary at all after the surgery, Nice and tidy work by my surgeon.

One of the worst techniques EVER!!!! The surgeon is not using ANY guides for the tunnels, Tibia or Femur. It is done completely by chance!!!
Trompy19 2 years ago
is that water coming out of the knee or is it like sinovial fluid? if its water, what is its purpose???
punkyyygirl 2 years ago
Yes it is water. Its purpose is for expanding the joint in order for the surgeon having a better view of the joint.
