@anarchsnark The entire rent does not go toward property taxes and the landlord sets the price of the apartment based on it's market value to maximize his own profit, i.e. what people will pay for it, not based on his own property taxes.

I said earlier that rent goes toward the cost of the property which includes property taxes. I never said rent IS ENTIRELY property taxes, but that it contributes to property taxes. The owner of the property pays taxes on the property so when undocumented workers pay rent, they indirectly pay property taxes.

On another note we do have to figure out something to do with the estimated 12 mil illegal immigrates in this nation. Just wanted to add that public schooling is usually paid for by property taxes which undocumented workers do pay for, so the idea that "illegals" are taking advantage of free education is ludicrous. Study after study shows that undocumented workers pay more into the system than they take out.

@tallswede80 We're not arguing about how much rent is paid but the fact that undocumented workers pay taxes. I said earlier that rent goes toward the cost of the property which includes property taxes. I never said rent IS ENTIRELY property taxes, but that it contributes to property taxes. The owner of the property pays taxes on the property so when undocumented workers pay rent, they indirectly pay property taxes.

@tallswede80 The rent paid still contributes to what is taxed. The landlord is trying to make a profit, so he's not trying to keep the property tax as a personal expense. He's gonna shift all or at least some of the tax to his tenants in the form of rent. Referring to property taxes, renters are not taxed directly but indirectly.

The landlord would pay the taxes whether he had any tenants or not, and his pricing of the units is based on the market price, not the tax structure. What the landlord does with the money is his business. It has nothing to do with the tenant.

Undocumented workers don't get the welfare, their US born and raised American children can only qualify. Or do you have a problem with US citizens getting food assistance? Question: If he wishes to change the Constitution to alter the criteria for citizenship, what would be the criteria? Grandfather clauses? "White Only" immigration laws like Australia had?
I wasn't born in the US. My parents were Irish quasi-legal Immigrants according to the laws in the 1970's but later took advantage of the amnesty in 1980's. But they were both White, so no one blinked.
I can GUARANTEE that if the majority of immigrants now were white, noone would care.

A lack of a mural on campus is not a sign of discrimination, but rather a lack of inspiration for "white race?", if you can agree on what is "white". In Texas when you are arrested, your name, ss, and picture, etc. get passed through the Gov. to check if you're illegal, that is the best way to catch people without asking every brown or slant-eyed person you find if they are here legally.

@last1standing00 Guess how much an illegal makes, cause they are illegal below minimum. Take away from that the cost of housing, cheap apartment. Food, for one kid going to school and his wife plus the 8 to 10+ percent in sales tax. Nothing is left from the salary. Now if they did save a small amount of money to spend, assuming they have not been caught, the kid can give that money back by investing in Texas college, and his future wages to the Texas economy.
