  • are you gonna draw a plane on that thing or what?

  • it honestly just looks like an overpriced step controller

  • wow nice!!!!!!! :D

  • Hi Stretta - I'm planning on downloading this patch and messing around with it this weekend. I don't know much about the Arc and how it communicates with the Monome. I'm curious if it's possible to assign the vertical and horizontal scroll functions to a couple of knobs on a midi keyboard?

  • @StellarSwarmMusic Yes, an arc is not required. It already accepts navigational input from the keyboard, so assigning MIDI commands to that function should be cake.

  • @stretta Awesome! Thanks much for the quick reply!

  • how much did the 512 cost?

  • MY GOD man....

  • Another great video! Is it necessary to have an arc to use this application??

  • Simply beautyful :)

  • You mentioned tricks for overcoming performance issues. Might you cover some of those in a bit more detail?

  • @HD41117 You can set the state of an individual LED with a separate message for each LED. This is fine for small scale updates and can even work okay for updating an entire 8x8 grid. Scrolling means updating the entire grid very rapidly, each time sending out a wave of set LED messages. If you apply this technique to larger grids, and try to scroll, it starts to feel sluggish. plane updates with led/col messages, which may be thought of as a kind of data compression.

  • @stretta Understood. Thanks.

  • Excellent explanatory video as always, thank you. I am looking forward to starting down the monome path in the coming year, and I would love to get my hands on the arc one day..

  • This is my kind of etch-a-sketch. Very nicely done, seems quite intuitive... Much appreciation for your work!
