  • Yup. I went on a low-carb diet about six months ago. Lost 40 lbs - including about 6 lbs of water weight in a single week - slashed my blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Carbs kill. It really is that simple.

  • Every person I know who has reduced their salt intake to virtually nil, in order to treat their hypertension, is still hypertensive, and still requires dependence on blood pressure medication. The true culprit for hypertension is a highly refined carbohydrate diet, which causes an increase in uric acid, which raises blood pressure. Removing refined carbohydrates reduces uric acid, and has a natural diuretic effect, both of which reduce blood pressure more significantly than salt restriction.
