I agree with @hazyeyes44. It was unprofessional of her to call him "honey" because it's not her place, even as a judge. But granted in a slightly sarcastic tone, she asked what he preferred, he started being arrogant, and pretty much threatened her and her baliff. He stooped lower. There is no such thing as a civil crime, there are two kinds of courts, civil and criminal. The sentence wasn't too long, it was an example of how I believed the man could have made his request in a more polite manner. @totallymulatto what i didnt like was the fact that he walked in there like he was the boss. like he ran the courtroom in which she put him in his place for it...and if u noticed when she called him "honey" she corrected herself right afterwards by calling him "counselor". I dont think she was calling him "honey" to offend him, i think it was by accident, by default. Thats just how some women talk, i say that word a lot too. And at least she corrected herself.

I agree with @hazyeyes44. It was unprofessional of her to call him "honey" because it's not her place, even as a judge. But granted in a slightly sarcastic tone, she asked what he preferred, he started being arrogant, and pretty much threatened her and her baliff. He stooped lower. I think she's a fantastic judge, and this is one of the only instances where unprofessionalism came into the picture by just one word.

There is no such thing as a civil crime, there are two kinds of courts, civil and criminal. The sentence wasn't too long, it was an example of how I believed the man could have made his request in a more polite manner. You shouldn't lecture people about the law when you seem to know very little about it.

I would never have the nerve to talk that way to a judge. I'm not saying he was wrong for requesting he be addressed using his correct title, but I don't think she meant it personally by calleing him "honey." I think that's akin to saying "Dude, I am in charge of this proceeding." She should've thrown him out!

She usually IS "respectful". Perhaps she was either having a bad day or TOLD "to be more like Judge Judy" by the producers (yes, it's a TV show for entertainment, primarily). She sounded QUITE conciliatory, anyway, but then the "doctor" in question had to push just a little too much by making that peculiar comment about "it shows a measure of respect". Silly me, but "doctors" don't warrant a high level of respect than those of us who (gasp) get our doctorates...

It’s about time someone stood up to her on her unprofessional behavior. She may be a good judge as far as knowing the law and applying it to her rulings. But that does not give her the right to treat people like little children in her court. She is notorious for talking down to people and taking cheap shots at them whenever she rules against someone. They should have done away with this show when Judge Wapner retired. He was much more professional then she ever was.

HE WAS SIMPLY AWFUL IN COURT!!! BUT.... I WAS A LITIGANT IN HER COURT WHEN SHE FIRST STARTED AND SHE CALLED ME 'GIRL !!! I WAS OFFENDED, COMING FROM A JUDGE, BUT BECAUSE OF THE EMOTIONAL ISSUES INVOLVED IN THE CASE I WAS INCAPABLE OF RESPONDING RESPECTFULLY TO THE JUDGE AND DIDN'T KNOW IF I SHOULD OR COULD? EVERYONE GOT WHAT THEY DESERVED!! I BELIEVE IN KARMA!! ! I LOVE PEOPLE'S COURT THOUGH!!

Doctor or not, you have no right to address ANY judge in that disrespectful manner. Not even the President himself has the right to disrespect any judge, whether it's a coutry or federal judge. If you don't like her flipping out on you, don't disrespect her and talk shit. That shit for brains "doctor" is lucky she didn't hold him in contempt of court and have Douglass arrest his sorry ass.
