can i ask a question ..? i would like to know if i spray the water on the tarp over night in -10*C (23*F) will it freeze inside the hose or the pipes ? cuz im really scared that i will destroy the hose and the pipes cuz they are outside..
when the temperature was in the low teens for a few nights i did 4 layers a night. i had an average of about 4" of solid white ice..definately use a white or clear tarp, the blue absorbs heat. not good

would it be easier to use 4'white PVC for the boarder ..You could break it apart
in the spring...never tried to build one though...NICE JOB!

Can you not just buy a paddle pool or something thats like a foot or more deep then put water in it and wait for it to freeze?

how many layers did ya end up putting on total? and was was the end thickness of the ice (5 or 6 inches)?
