this song is about following a group who has no reason backing it's claims, or following a person/group and not being able to back up your own claims because you are too lazy to learn. these are the"hollow" and following them results in your pride to be alive dying. simple enough. no religious, or non religious meaning.

I can agree that while melodic death metal uses traditional elements of death metal in combination with melodies, its' general goal is to create aggressive, yet EPIC musical moments, as opposed to only conveying a general sense of doom and negativity. I recommend to those who like soilwork that they also check out blinded colony and scar symmetry. They seem to go well with songs like Soilwork's "nerve".

Metal is a genre where the musicians can express themselves in anyway, and not be dinged for it... lots take advantage of that with rough topics... religion for one. Usually they don't have very nice things to say, either... =P

I believe this is an anti-religious song (or at least religious establishment) as it's talking about religion being full of hollow promise, and how they use fear to control people (hence"I claim you'll never find, a better fear"). @arare666 Actually that's the stereotype way to look at them, I'm catholic (not Christian but theres little difference) and I love this kind of music and in no way full of hate. Just seems that some that aren't religious like to point fingers at those that are. I don't say all that aren't religious are dumb or going to Hell or something so why speak about us as a group when your experience is only with a handful that are actually 'religious'

I have to laugh at the people who take this song in such directions. The song is actually being rather facetious. The hollow refers to people who don't use their minds, those people who aren't themselves. It is not saying to actually follow these people, but rather saying how most people do, and it's practically like suicide. Follow your own beliefs, don't just fall in line with the hollow.

Because one wishes not to follow a false god, one who has been dormant for how long now, does NOT make them vile. What does, however, is killing in the name of something. @Twisthumorftw Satanists usually don't follow the devil..they just center their lives around themselves instead of a god or religion. they're self-obsessed basically. also, ur open to ur own interpretation, but i don't think "following the hollow" is following satan. I see the song as following the crowd and being a conformist, instead of following your own path. for example "don't dare to think", you don't think for yourself, you just "follow the hollow" ;)

anti religous??? alot of metal songs talk of love and relationships, and some are infact pro-religion, listen to the lyrics dont judge it because of some album artwork and the way they are sung.
they are just ways of expressing the artists feelings, and anger is often a big feeling in relations. :)

I believe this is an anti-religious song (or at least religious establishment) as it's talking about religion being full of hollow promise, and how they use fear to control people (hence"I claim you'll never find, a better fear"). This is my take on it (and I love it), though I see nothing about Satan worshiping.
