Actualy man, I wore a kevlar gunners mask painted with a skull on several raids in Iraq in 2006 and 2007. They didnt like me wearing it though. So you are right that they dont want you wearing it, but wrong that it never happens. You do not have to be ranger qualified to be an officer. It's the army's intention to have all combat arms officers and one squad leader per platoon ranger qualified. this is a goal not a standard. (Officer Candidate School) My J.R.O.T.C. commander for my high school years was a Lieutenant Colonel and an airborne ranger, he told me whats what. I'm a PFC currently, but will be going through either college or O.C.S. to get my commission in three years. I'm not trying to be on a high horse but I know my stuff lol.

Dude im for the Army just as much as anyone, but Marines train at Army bases cause they barely get any money as is from the Navy. So they cant afford to maintain bases and things like that. If Marines were supplied like the Army they would kick so much ass it wouldnt even be funny.

We don't have SWAT, i'm in England m8. It is harder fighting in the Desert because there is mostly open ground with no cover so it will be hard and kind of scary. I'd prefer the Jungle. I'm 15 and i'm hopin to join the British Army next year and then hopefully work my way to SAS

Name rings a bell, they did a version of that on the American military channel where they had the actaul soldiers talking about what it was like. They have a whole series where an old SAS unit demonstrates how the different branches operate.

I'm talking about how real life special forces don't have rankings and stats like some kind of pokemon card, It is impossible for a civilian, particularly a teenager with no military experience like yourself to quantify whether two high level forces like the SAS or their American counterpart, Delta Force, are "better" than each other. They are both very good and probably have slightly different ways of operating but that is all you or I can really know for sure.
the arguement about which elite unit is better is a little silly, since they would never engage each other and if they did, who would win would be based on other variables such as who has surprise, who has the better tactical position and what extra support they would have.

A little side note, sometimes they didn't get to pick a battle. they'd go to set something off, whack a few people. Not always to go sneak up and kill. My uncle was a 'LRRP' in viet nam. went in during the late 60's for his time. He was a liitle out of it before he went in, and smart. went hand in hand. I don't know about now. Anyways for anyone who is in and knows the 'shit' about what goes on. 'LRRP's' gathered intel. They went to specifically find the enemy, get what intel they needed and get back. One piece, of course. But sometimes that wasn't the case. But the goal was to win the war. Not politics. Back then they were 'RECONDO'.

Actually I also heard that most Officer have to go through Ranger Training in order to qualify as an Infantry Officer.
That's why you sometime see an Officer with a Ranger Tab on them even though they're not actually Ranger.

No you don't lol. All you need Is 4 years college ROTC or go through O.C.S. (Officer Candidate School) My J.R.O.T.C. commander for my high school years was a Lieutenant Colonel and an airborne ranger, he told me whats what. I'm a PFC currently, but will be going through either college or O.C.S. to get my commission in three years. I'm not trying to be on a high horse but I know my stuff lol.

Instead he attended Ranger School and was assigned to 509th Airborne.

Thank you 1st Sergeant, Not only that Jim in the movie was a part of a special command Ranger unit. So that means he was a Ranger and Special Forces. Funny how that came out Matt, but i know what you mean. I agree Marines do more with less. When you could die why would you want to. Dude im for the Army just as much as anyone, but Marines train at Army bases cause they barely get any money as is from the Navy. So they cant afford to maintain bases and things like that. If Marines were supplied like the Army they would kick so much ass it wouldnt even be funny.

They have much more to go through before they become a Ranger and not only that Marines dont even have there own Airborne School, they train at the armys Airborne School. We don't have SWAT, i'm in England m8. It is harder fighting in the Desert because there is mostly open ground with no cover so it will be hard and kind of scary. I'd prefer the Jungle. I'm 15 and i'm hopin to join the British Army next year and then hopefully work my way to SAS

I have never lost a moment of sleep to bad dreams and I've served in some volatile places. We all have different ways of trying to adjust after war, I don't feel a single ounce of remorse for anything I did. In my experience, it's the ones who feel quilty about something they did or saw. When I close my eyes I can see their faces, but then I remember the reverse could've happened. It pains me to think one of those faces might have been my friend under different circumstances.

No, I was stationed in Belgrade and was part of a police battalion. It's more similiar to your elite S.W.A.T. teams as the majority of our duties were to serve high risk warrents and respond to civil unrest. When I started in 2003 the military was undergoing a complete restructering, so our unit was classified as tactical military branch. It wasn't an MP unit, we had no authority over other branches of our armed forces.

So fuck you all the wars and conflicts we've been in thats what makes us powerful and highly trained. Especially Marines they have there own way to take cities and fight battles. Britain has a history more of war than America. For more than 2 thousand years Britain has been in wars. America just has a lot of money. Britains army is better because hear this. More than 4000 American soldiers have died so far in Iraq/Afghanistan. Around 200 British soldiers have died in Iraq/Afghanistan. We are better trained but the Americans have just better equipment.

What am I talking about? I'm talking about how real life special forces don't have rankings and stats like some kind of pokemon card, It is impossible for a civilian, particularly a teenager with no military experience like yourself to quantify whether two high level forces like the SAS or their American counterpart, Delta Force, are "better" than each other. They are both very good and probably have slightly different ways of operating but that is all you or I can really know for sure.

A little side note, sometimes they didn't get to pick a battle. they'd go to set something off, whack a few people. Not always to go sneak up and kill. Yeah anybody who's smart can do that, it was the shit that caught them by suprise is how they made their name, and they still made it back in one piece. Some of them. Training or playing war don't mean shit when the shit hits the fan. And some people, I won't say names, this goes for both sides of the fence, don't know what they are saying !

My uncle was a 'LRRP' in viet nam. went in during the late 60's for his time. He was a liitle out of it before he went in, and smart. went hand in hand. I don't know about now. Anyways for anyone who is in and knows the 'shit' about what goes on. 'LRRP's' gathered intel. They went to specifically find the enemy, get what intel they needed and get back. One piece, of course. But sometimes that wasn't the case. But the goal was to win the war. Not politics. Back then they were 'RECONDO'.
