I wanted to yell and stamp and throw a frenzy whenever my teacher would take it easy on me than the rest of my classmates after she found I am dyslexic. I still hate her. for thinking I was "stupid" "dumb" "lazy" "slow-learner" and "troublesome".
I'm dyslexic and I would agree that dyslexia is over looked too much I struggled with school and i did get help advenualy but I was not diagnosed with dyslexia till I got to my first year at college. And i find I'm quite emotional and cry a quite a bit more so when I find the most basic thing hard I dont know if this is to do with my dyslexia or something else pleas help me answer that question
@DRAYS002 I don't think the crying is a symptom of dyslexia, however I do think it is directly related to having it. The emotional stress and embarrassment as well as the emotional scars caused by dealing with it as a child cause people with learning disabilities to be more emotional than most. If you can see a counselor it might help some. I just started seeing one, we just started to scratch the surface of my problems when I could no longer afford the appointments.
Wow this is me, I was labled as a slow learner, suffer from really low self essteem and till I went to uni, I honistly thought I was stupid. I know I was dyslexic but I thought that made me stupid. it doesn't it makes me unique.
@01stanbk I think most of us feel that way. If it helps any I know exactly how you feel and at almost 40 am still dealing with it. Unfortunately I married someone who has no compassion about it, no understanding and no desire to understand.
