  • Wow.

  • where did you buy a piece of paper that long?

  • wow crack and speed do not mix well at all

  • wow did you do this for fun or do you get paid to do all your origami? If for fun how do you find the time?

  • what i find weird about origami models such as this one, is that many people use a giant sized piece of paper and the model ends up so much smaller than the piece of paper you have used...

  • Haha you could see the sun moving along

  • Hello I'm a pretty big fan and I actually made this origami.

  • What kind of paper did you use.

  • This is....... @.@

I mean... If I had sat on the floor doing origami for the whole day, my back will hurt really bad when I stand up...

This is so cool, i'm speechless...

  • And what's more, now I know the size i might need to fold this piece of art.

That's almost the width of my dining room for lang's sake!! LOL

  • Wow this is amazing! nice fold!

  • i ordered this book yesterday but for all of you who are watching after i posted this the date was 18.07.2011

  • Ich hab 70cm x 700cm (7m) genommen und hab am Ende Büroklammern gebraucht :D und der ganze Flur war für 2 Stunden besetzt. Dann das Wohnzimmer. xD

  • WOW!!! im redy 2 make it... made his other 1 like 500 times... this is diferent... just looks... scary...

  • did the paper come with the book?

  • @immanuelnona1998

nope. you get to tape paper together

  • nice house

  • which book did you use

  • @pepijn999999999 "Origami Design Secrets" by Robert J. Lang

  • @AdamsSara That looks amazing! No creepiness intended, but you have a very nice house....:)

  • 望塵莫及...

  • how long did this take but cool design.

  • @Hafiz9698 It took me about 5 1/2 hours, and was my first fold of this model. So I believe the second time round I'd be able to fold it a bit faster.

  • cool, you can see the light move

  • what is the size of the sheet of paper?

  • @ottaviobrioches 20cm by 2m.

  • @AdamsSara Where may I be able to obtain a piece of paper that big for this model and the koi fish from the same book so it won't be too thick during the detailed parts?

  • isn't it cold to sit on plain marble?

  • @mobradovic00 The magic word is floor heating. :)

  • @AdamsSara My floor heating doesn't work :P

  • I ordered the book 15 mins before i watched this vid hahaha

  • Your back got to hurt after siting like that a whole day. Still, awsome model.

  • what kind of paper did you use? was it normal long paper

  • @btag28 I used packaging paper for parcels.

  • woah ! look at the light pass by ! hahaa soo cool !

  • ur really good at origami!

  • whow many hours you spent doing this model?

  • @lourencomontibello 5.5 hours, but it was my first try. Usually the first try takes a bit longer than the attempts after that.

  • I'm trying this model with craft paper now. Do you think it will work okay ?

  • @Jonbirnil I'm guessing you'll have found out by now. :) I think foil-backed paper may work best with this model.

  • @AdamsSara if it took you 5.5 hours,it would take me 24 hours,im usually 4 times slower than you :P

  • ¡¡¡i fold this in 3 days!!!

  • i can see the sun move

  • that... is... so... AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • Where the hell can I get some paper like that?

  • I got the book for christmas^^ I just finished folding the cuckoo clock out of some wraping paper. I must say this was quite a tricky model to make! Definately took more than five hours:)

  • is ur back ok because when i do origami my back hurts like hell

  • Hi I'm will and I'm attempting to make this origami figure.Do you have any tips for the possible hard parts.

  • woooooow !!!!!!! whats the of the book from there you have this?

  • @Filip49866 It's form "Origami Design Secrets" by Robert Lang. Also see the video description.

  • @AdamsSara Thank you

  • How big was the paper you used to fold this?

  • @somprsn2525 It tells you in the beginning: 20cm by 2m (8in by 80in).

  • @AdamsSara oh woops didnt catch that lol. I was looking in the comments. ok thank you :)

  • wow!!!! this looks like you put alot of effort into to maiing that, nice job :-)

  • You are officially awesome, I'm just beginning to start with origami, I've made some animals and several different roses >n< But i hope to get where you are one day.

  • Wow!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could do that... Lol imma newbie at this stuff, any suggestion?s

  • @ichigo7708 You can check my playlist on simple models: /user/AdamsSara#grid/user/623F7EE3E24ACB32

  • Where do you get such big paper?

  • @Lightknife101 I bought this paper in a post office, actually. It was on a roll and meant to be used for wrapping parcels.

  • isnt this stressfull?

  • @bluecrab7 Not for me.

  • @AdamsSara for me it is x.x

  • Comment removed

  • Do a 3d origami dragon :P

  • your so good at origami

  • Sara, Very nice! I LOVE IT! I just bought Robert's book and hope to be ½ as good as you! PEACE!

  • have you tried satoshi kamiya's models like the ancient dragon?

  • @JuanJose97 Yes, I've folded the ancient dragon by Satoshi Kamiya.

  • were do u get the paper from

  • @swaging554 I bought this paper in a post office. It's intended for wrapping parcels with.

  • Awesome! Googl stars!

  • i can see the shadows of the sun moving XD

  • What book is that??

  • @Tashisbash "Origami Design Secrets" by Robert Lang

  • @AdamsSara thanks !!!

btw your origami skills are amazing

my friend and i do most of our origami at school together as we are in year 8. do you think you could refer us a model that would challenge us but not be too hard?

    Thanks again

  • @Tashisbash I fear your age tells me nothing about your origami skills. :p Hence it's a bit hard to suggest a model with adequate complexity. Why don't you just scan the thumbnails on happyfolding(com)instructions and pick one that you like? :)

Note that my older videos are harder to follow than the more recent ones (irrespective of the complexity of the model)...

  • @AdamsSara ok thanks for your help. we are roughly intermediate i would say. we've mastered basic structures and are up for a challenge. Thanks again!! :)

  • @Tashisbash say, have u tried the origami fireworks? or origami snake? lots of my friends love the fireworks ^^ for me, my first model was a bit of a challenge haha, also you could try the stella conica (flower ball type) its a personal favorite :)

  • @meowgirl11 thanks

they all look really good :)

  • @AdamsSara ok thanks for your help. we are roughly intermediate i would say. we've mastered basic structures and are up for a challenge. Thanks again!! :)

  • @AdamsSara,it is nice when you do scorpion and cuckoo clock. :)

  • where you buy the paper?

  • @simbakeila123 I bought this paper in a postal office, it's for wrapping parcels.

  • @AdamsSara thank you,but wats the name of the paper?

  • @simbakeila123 I think it was labelled "Packpapier" (parcel wrap paper), but in essence it's somewhat low-quality, thickish Kraft paper.

  • @AdamsSara thank you!!

  • i watched this is science 2day and we were all amazed. Very Well Done can u add me and give me a lesson please

  • OMG! IT HAS BOX-PLEATING! I LOVE BOX PLEATING... THE FIRST TIME I EVER STARTED BOX-PLEATING WAS WHEN YOU TAUGHT "THE LAST WALTZ" amAzing!

  • OH MY GOD

  • You are very talented!

  • u should make a really long tutorial on how to make this

  • ... well thats just it...

its so hard to make its impossible to diagram it...

if you dont know what i mean then try the model yourself first...

  • Well, not impossible to diagram. After all, Robert Lang *did* diagram it. As to video, it'd just take too much time. And the book (Origami Design Secrets) is really worth buying in any case!

  • ...oh bugger

though how excactly did you do those horizontal creases from step 11?

in the book he described where all of em need to be excactly... for 16×160cm that is

but you used 20×200cm and i wonder how you did that

  • The folding sequence stays exactly the same, no matter what size the paper is. It's only important that the ratio of the paper is the same. 16x160 and 20x200 both have a ratio of 1 by 10.

  • @AdamsSara

    meaning?

  • @uruigi The folding sequences never depend on the size of the paper, only the shape of the paper. For this model you need to use a rectangle where the side lengths have a ratio of 1 by 10.

  • @uruigi meaning it doesn't matter how big or small the paper is its about how long it is compared to how wide it is

  • @Tashisbash

so i simply do the math and then i know where im supposed to crease...

  • I just got Origami Design Secrets for Christmas, and i was thinking about folding this. I just had one question - what size paper and what type did you use?

  • I used packaging paper that I bought in a post office. That's the brown stuff that is often used for wrapping parcels. I think I used approx. 20cm by 2m (8in by 80in) of it.

  • holy crap that is cool i attempted it, but i failed :(

  • wow das ist krass....

  • a nice work of art = five stars plus!

  • wow thats cool we just got done fixing a coo coo clock and i seen this and just had to watch it

  • thats absolutely amazin:)

    such skill!!!

  • I am going to fold this but first I want to know what paper you used so I know what I have to buy

  • I used a roll of packaging paper, and cut one sheet to the right size. It's a bit of a pain, but there you go. You can find this kind of paper in many post offices or stationary stores. It's the stuff you wrap parcels in.

  • omg

  • did any one else think this was funny to watch in as if you were a demon lmao awsome work tho thumbs up to ya !

  • what paper did you use?

  • sarah i've just bought the origami design secrets. Could you make videos showing steps of the black frest cuckoo clock 35, 29 to 39 , 43 to 44, and 66 to 70 please.

If you can't make this videos just reply my comment telling the answers.

    Thanks

P.D. : Sorry if my english is bad

  • HI there, I fear I don't really do videos just showing specific steps of models.

As to explanations, the steps look clear enough to me - and if you're asking for later steps, didn't you master the ones before? Maybe you can clarify why the steps are causing you problems?

  • oh mein gott ^^ und ich dachte schon, der jack ist schwer xD

  • frigging amazing job!! so much patience and skilled hands!!!

  • Awesome!! :D

  • could you please make a tourtial to make this before july 17 or if you cant could you pleasse post it after of put the diagrams in a video if the paper is too big to record

  • Given that it took me 5 1/2 hours to fold - no, I won't do a video. As to posting the diagrams, it won't happen. You'll have to buy the book - which is, by the way excellent, and really worth getting.

  • ok tks

  • really??? and he said diagrams arent included in that book

  • is it complex or hard to make the folds or both

  • i like it, how the shafts of sunlight are moving trough the window, while you folding - very nice movie :)

(take care of your back.. hehe..)

  • Wait, please tell me your being sarcastic

  • thats amazing... im pretty good at origami myself, however i tried to make Roberts first cuckoo clock and it turned out ok, but i just never brought myself to the challenge to make his black forest clock :P

  • Hee-hee! How delightful. I adore not only the design, but the way the sunlight crept across the floor while you worked also. :-)

  • Wath is the book's Name..?!

  • "Origami Design Secrets" by Robert J. Lang

  • Hi Sara, Awesome design by Robert Lang. This video is a great motivation factor for me to start making the model. Could u please mention what kind of paper I can use and if I have to attach papers to make a long piece of paper which tape I can use to glue it. I'm residing in Dubai, so can u suggest a common type of paper which I could use for this model.

  • Get a roll of packaging paper from your post office. Packaging paper for parcels is usually kraft paper - not as thin as one might wish, but thin enough to work with. It should also come in rolls that are long enough to not require gluing. That's what I used in this video. The book also describes where to best tape strips of paper together if you can't get a long enough roll of paper, but I haven't tried it myself.

  • crazy... i wish i could do that ^ ^

  • thats so awsoume

  • WOW!!!! I'm lost for words

  • i dont see wich animal it should be ..

  • omg

  • this would just simply melt my face.

  • so adamssara, can't i create this model on a standard bondpaper???

  • Hi Sara. Shouldn't it be 1:10 paper? You used 1:9.925 as i caldulated (20:198.5). Is that proportions better than lang's 1:10 ?

    Great model ;)

  • Do you know this rule "measure twice, cut once"? Yeah, well, I measured once only. :P

I modified the design slightly to make up for my missing 1.5cm - my pendulum is slightly shorter. So, in essence, it *should* have been 20cm by 2m, but I screwed up.

  • whoa! that took you 5.5 hrs?

    are u srs

    wow u're really good.

  • if u found some diagram which have no name of the designer will you make video of it since you couldn't contact the designer for approval?

  • If I don't know who designed a piece, I will not make a video of it. However, if I found diagrams without credits I might still be able to find out whom the design is by. The origami community can often be helpful with these kinds of questions.

  • i'm going to start folding for this model too~ sara you're using 20 x 198.5cm? I didn't fully follow what the instruction said, cutting paper in 16 x 33, 16 x 45...etc, I use 20 x 43, 55, 50, 52 instead, hopefully i can get in the way correctly :)

  • Well, my paper should have been 20cm by 2m anyway. I cut off 1.5cm too much from the length, so I shortened the pendulum to correct that error.

  • cool can you make a video on how : ) and i dont want to buy a $100 book for 1 model

  • Oh Sara

That's an amazing model, very well done. Looks very hard to make but what an end result.

    Great work

    Best wishes

    Billie

  • oh jesus. i cant even do the first part.

  • This is amazing!!

I'd love to be able to do something as intricate as this. You are very talented!

    :)

  • wooow

  • yay. i finally have big enough paper to do this. what were the dimensions of the paer that you used? i like the size of your finished model and i would like to make one thats about that size.

  • See the beginning of the video. I used 20cm x 2m (8in x 80in).

  • thanks. now all i need to do is find out where i put origami design secrets.

  • don't your hand ever get callous

  • From folding paper? No.

  • i wonder how long that took u!

  • About 5 1/2 hours, a bit less.

  • So, just how bad WAS your back pain after 5+ hours of being hunched over like that? Ouch!

  • No back pain at all, actually. I stretched several times, and that was probably a good idea.

  • He, I love the sun moving in the first minute. I been dreaming to fold another BFCC, but I just cant find paper, time, and an store where I can satisfy my ambition (why not a working clock??? hehehe) Im becoming quite interested in your videos, thx for posting

  • That's amazing. I just got that book and I wanted to try to fold the hardest model but then when I saw it was 216 steps I decided to wait 'till later lol Great vid =)

  • Holy cow, that looks amazing. And at first I thought you were moving across the floor, then I relized it was the sun moving! XD Wow you never really notice it move unless you spead up 5 hours O_O The clocks really cutte :) I love it.

  • aw xD

    good skills

  • major origami seizure XD

  • This is an amazing model!! Great job Sara, especially so when its a Lang model! :) Oh and I love your tee, too....cute!! hehehe

  • Heh, it's one of my favourite ones. Go women in computer science!

  • Finely and lovely crafted.

Many years ago I made a dragon (based on the Lang's 'Viking Ship' model) from 5m x 1m paper sheet.

The result wasn't as good as yours :-)

but I blame wind, because we were outdoor :-)

    Keep up!

    ~peace

  • You go girl! That's really amazing!!
