  • Thank you for this.

  • I find the book very revealing, except it is too much like a college textbook...an experienced player can read all the summaries and gain just as much meaningful insight exclusive of reading the book page by page. It has too many detailed examples of actual games.

  • Good one, thanks.

  • Silman tells you how to use imbalances to note the differences in a position. He does not explain how such positions are arrived at. The system is not easy to apply because it has no beginning, middle or end. Other authors say the same thing except they use words like assess or evaluate. Silman says imbalance and then explains it means difference, why he does not use the word "difference" to begin with, I do not know. You might get somewhere if he explained what pos and neg imbalances were.

  • and right after that instead of cxb5 white can triangulate with Qh6+ Ke7; Qf6+ Kf8; cxb5

  • at 5:03 isn't f4 just winning?

    f4! Qc6+; Kf2 bxc4; Rg3+ Kf8; f5!

    or ...bxc4; Rg3+ Kf8; Rg7! with threats of Rh7-h8# and Qg5- Rg8#

  • Good video, thanks!! I've been studying How to Reassess Your Chess, have about 30 pages left. It's REALLY good, and has has helped a lot so far. From 1350 to 2010 within a few months. Good to see someone using Silman's techniques in a video, thanks again.

  • I will be ordering this book soon, two days from now actually! Decided to see if youtube had anything on it. You were very clear in explaining and analyzing this endgame set-up. Good job! I found this helpful and reassuring in my decision to buy this book. *Liked* :)

  • Good video. I am currently reading the book and the video was a good aide.

  • @AndonMie

Thanks. Very happy to hear that my video was of help to someone!

  • I'm 2430! I got this good by the thinking technique!!

  • I'm a big fan of Silman. His methods are excellent for learning positional chess and really aren't difficult to learn and implement. When studying any position you consider :

    1. Material

    2. Minor Pieces

    3. Pawn Structure

    4. Files and weak squares

    5. Space

    6. Development

    7. Initiative

Look for strengths and weaknesses for both sides in each category and then plan accordingly.

  • Instructive video. Thank you!

  • Thanks for the video. I have been waiting for the new edition of Reassess Your Chess for about two and a half years! publication is repeatedly postponed.

  • Thanks for this. I am aware of Mr Silman's work and I think it's very unappreciated. He's written some excellent books, I hope to see more of this on YouTube.
