@mayhem1029 actually i just checked. I'm deleting this comment on the principle that you're distributing pirated material which is readily available in most countries.
@TotalCodeMonkey thats what most of irc is.. i can name tons of networks and tons of channels that have warez xdcc channels.. i been in the scene for 5 years :X. thats all irc mostly is..
@codymoss3300 in terms of anime, well first you need to know the group that does the sub you want, then find put if they have a channel, then if they have a bot. Anidb.net can help in finding groups that do the series you want.
For other files I'm afraid it's down to knowing of it exists.
i could, but it's not available in all channels, and in some it's even banned to use triggers. The channel i use in the video, doesn't support it for example, so it's pointless to teach if it's not a constant to all bots. a list is a constant though, to search: use Ctrl-F if it's a txt file or use a search box if the list is interactive.
I was planning to flesh this out a little in a second video, by expanding to queries and formatting. as well as maybe explaining about modes.
@mtech101 : IRC is many servers. Also irc fileservers are operated by people with really fast connections. So it's VERY hard to shut down. They'd have to go after everyone with a fast connection and the means to run a fileserv script. Which..if you remember them trying to go after people who shared on Napster..is quite the impossible task.
Thanks a lot, this was really helpful. Although I guess you could have included the list in the description or something, but a quick look in the Livejournal quickly helped me with that one.
@HiddenPower13 this was supposed to be a generic "how to use irc and xdcc" not a "here's how to use the precure bot in #precure" i only used it as an example as i use that one the most often.
you'll find that the list is linked to on Curecom, PCSS, and Doremi.
i use doki regularly, and they've always had a torrent link. the reason DDLs are not active is because of the filesharing sites running scared after megaupload got busted.
which release is it and i'll have a word with them as i know some of the guys there
@TotalCodeMonkey Yep today princess no rondo was still not up, but it came up just a few hours ago, hey do you know any good websites like nyaatorrents that use XDCC for their releases? i get tremendous speeds with irc
Nyaatorrents isn't a group, so there's no site like that, each group has to host a bot themselves so there's no directory like that. Nyaatorrents is a bittorrent tracker no more, no less
well most fansub groups have a bot of some description, all you've got to do is find their channel and what the bot(s) are called.
example: i'm the timer for a group called Pretty cure Splash subs. Our channel is shared with Curecom and doremi and is the one used in the video: #precure@irc.rizon.net. and the bot is linked to from the channel and all 3 sites. the bot's server is owned by a generous member of the community
another example: Kyuubisubs use a bot for all releases, but it's only owned by them
@ethai13 sorry to say i don't know. i don't own a mac.
however in the video i do mention the Opera browser in passing, and i know that has a mac version. Don't ask me how to set it up, as i only use it for browsing.
another one to look at is "pidgin", as i know there are win and linux version, so i had a look and there is a mac version, but they also suggest "Adium" for a more native mac experience.

@TotalCodeMonkey I'm having a hard time with #NEWS, since I'm new at this. And I do not know whether it works if I typed "@find X"
