To the "ids" that don't understand, and argue the song is about horses: The song is obviously about motorcycles. Listen with your ears - not your emotions - to the first verse of the song, "head out on steel horses, with wheels and we ride..." Also from the first verse, "and we ROLL." Do you really think these inferences are about horses? I can believe I even had to explain this....lol
I like how you installed your own life into this song, very well done. Looks like you guys had a great time. I grew up on the non-steel horse, but as Chris Ledoux says in "this cowboys hat" we all have more in common than most people think. Being a cowboy is a state of mind.
George Strait actually does enjoy riding motorcycles... wish I knew what :) I love his music and I have since I was a little girl... he is a great vocalist and puts on a great live show.
Well, i hate to say it, but the term "Steel Horse" is mostly likely a metaphor. A motorcycle cant nearly do the things that a good mount can. Come see me when a motorcycle can bring a man over 9 feet of unpacked snow, to save a life.
they sure can... it just takes a conversion where theres a track on back and a ski on fron... but no not too much beats a good horse... but i think u lost the argument... George is talkin about tearin' up road... its about motorcycles
Well, you have a very good argument with that conversion thing. However, both terms steel horses and burnin up the road can be used on several vehicles. I have some freinds who think its a pickup. For another, i have a hard time believing that you could carry the parts for a conversion of such, on a motorcycle what with everything else youd need.
Who cares if this song is about horses or motorcycles. We are all brothers. Race the wind and chase the sun. No regrets boys.

Steel horses are motorcycles. Trucks and other cars are refered to as "cages"; so a driver is called a "cager".
