Im surprised no one has said this sounds like MARTYR, not only in stecato/tech riffs but the singer sounds Alot like Daniel Mongrain of Martyr: a great band, a MUST check out if you like this. This also reminds me of Spiral Architecht. I love metal bands that dont use picks for the bass. I give it a thumbs up. Alarum should tour with Martyr unless they already have, making me sound like a foo... anywho, get Martyr's-"Warpzone" AND "Feeding The Abscess"
thats badass the drummer uses traditional grip. I hate when bands like these have vocalist. they would actually be alright to listen to if it was just instrumental .
I know this is a very nerdy thing to say but since I don't give a crap I just thought I should mention that this song would be great for a "mech" video game like Phantom Crash on the Xbox console. I loved that game and the music on there but always wished there was more then just Tokyo-pop and futuristic techno. If there were some jazz metal that game would probably be remembered differently.
the singer looks like mick hucknall gone aggressive. . . . . they also have anothe thing in common, they are both not very good singers. music was very interesting tho. the drummer is awesome as well as the lead guitar.
I rate this whole album up there with my fav's. Namely Cynic and Death. ALARUM I am so proud to be Australian and you guys are our answer to the International Heavyweights!
@bce5150 Look up technical death metal scroll untill you see playlist results click play all in playlist, should be about 47 if you find the one I did.
This band is FUCKING awesome!!!! Does anybody know a place to get their first album? And has their new album been released? i have to know! but i can't find it out!
Found this band via Spotify. One can really hear were they get their inspirations from. I love it! I ordered "Alarum - Eventuality" yesterday. Spotify is fantastic to do these kinds of discoverys. I've bought more CDs the last months than I have for many years before, because of Spotify. (I don't work for Spotify :) )
They have other songs which better express the idea of Alarum being of such a genre especially from their first album Fluid Motion. Generally you have the syncopation, and the chords which aren't as clear when distorted than they would have been clean. They write their music in an improv style, so that if you were in Melbourne to here their shows you'd see how different their original versions of the songs are from the final version that makes it onto the CD.
@Yony42 - They aren't just your typical Pentatonic Metal Band. These guys are as creative as they are schooled. If you are worth your salt, you can hear it! Listen.......
awful vocals
