If you dont have the Blues then you lie to yourself about always being happy! Blues is the very heartbeat and rythum that pumps through each and every one of our veins and Freddy, like all the "Kings",were the great messengers (Albert, BB inclusive) that sung and played the blues to a 'Bluesed out world'.Without the Blues life would simply not exist! Freddy played the bluesat it's Bluest!
only 1 criticism - who was on the mixing desk? The guitar disappears at times, swamped by vocals and the brass section. Not up to the standard of the muscianship of the biggest King.

many of my favorite blues artist..where either good singers or great muscians..even the weak singers got by cause they were so passionate..but freddie king..wow what a talent.. GREAT guitar player..good enough to memorize a young Eric Clapton and make him wanna sound like King!! but as a singer..what a powerful soulful voice... he's one of my favorites!!
pickin with his index and thumb.. straight through the amp.. knockin suckers out, smokin fools,, and beatin everybody down.. Freddy King could not be measured... Blues incarnate , and immaculate .
@kdw456 And I can't blame him! I saw him open for Santans when he toured the fourht album Caravanserai. We all loved Calos ^ Co. but he was tearing the roof off and we were lookin at eat other in amazement, then hating to see him leave. Must've been mid to late '73. I feel lucky to have see him smoke before we lost him: "heaven done called another Blues Stringer back home..."

yeah TRBUFF..! Clapton was still in guitar school when Freddy was doin the Chitlin circuit with his own band back in 62,63 and on..! I saw Freddy all his soulful glory at Glendale Jr. College in 65..then at Chico State in about 75..thats all I needed..to love him forever! RIP
We shouldn't choose favourites between these blues Kings because they are all phenomnal musicians. They are all Kings in my point of view there is no whos better. They Sit in 3 different Thrones all equaly the same height, size and Shape. All with there signature guitars behind them.
i thinks its cuz he still alive getting more new fans faster than Freddies kings is.
But Clapton is great and freddie king is great. But clapton get to much praise as a blues artist. Clapton is a very very good blues artist but his skills as a blues artist compared to what he was doin in the past dont match.
freddie went out at 42 from hard livin.. and his style was so intense.. much more than BB,, and was more articulate and expansive than AK.. forever Fred
I love BB and Albert.. there great in there own right. but for me Freddie was the total package...haunting solos that gives me chills what soul...and such a sweet powerful voice... this is the guy Eric Clapton tried to mimic when he was a Bluesbreaker..and who wouldnt!!
I dont know why people have given you a thumbs down.
You can hear that BB King raise in the voice, it's uncanny.
And it was a ' tongue in cheek' comment and not meant to be taken too seriously, why people who know nothing of the music they are listening to feel the need to ignorantly put peoples comments down is beyond me.
Yeah I notice too that earlier on his tones was little mellower and he seems to have used a lot more major pentatonic stuff back then! I love Freddie King....hes the man. Him and Albert Collins are the 2 I take from the most. I love Mr. King's vocal work.
The guy thats playing rhythm on this video is named Johnny Jones. He is the same guy that taught Hendrix the blues. Of course he taught me also. Check him out on my youtube videos. He just turned 73 years old and still plays the hell out of that guitar. He and i are on several youtube videos together.
