@mygrpa and every time you do that you are placing yourself and those around you in greater danger of actually being bitten. King Browns are notorious snake-eaters, they're probably doing you a favour eating things like Brown Snakes.
I have been able to get very close to mulga snakes, dugites, western brown snakes and tigersnakes, but I have never seen any of them get angry like this even when I folllow them. some of them have even slithered between my feet without any trouble!
Crikey mate, out my way we get king browns all the time (verified by all the locals when they see a snake over 0.8m long) this one is a King Cobra you are lucky to be alive ;)
Not mucking about those things will kill a camlel through a boot.
Crikey mate, out my way we get king browns all the time (verified by all the locals when they see a snake over 0.8m long) this one is a King Cobra you are lucky to be alive ;)
you all know that a king brown isnt a brown snake yeah its not related to the eastern brown or any other brown snake for that matter its a black snake and its not as venomous as people assume it is
King Browns are a very dangerous snake! It"s true that they are members of the Black Snake family and that their venom drop for drop is not as dangerous as that of a Brown Snake, but they more than make up for this with the large amount of venom they inject( the largest yield of any Australian snake!). Their venom also causes lots of tissue damage or necrosis. They have been responsible for many deaths and are definately as venomous as people rightly assume!!
I have seen some monster brown snakes on the Yass river ,big bastards that scare the shit out of ya when you come across them .But they just wan't to get the fuck out of your way,i wouldn't try to get near them for the sake of getting one on video, they can fucken kill ya.
@garryscott651 ;;;Along the Yass river these would have been Eastern or Common Brown Snakes; the King Brown is quite different. But yes, the best policy is to leave snake alone and they wont give you any problems. It's generally idiots who try and catch, kill or video snakes that get bitten!!! Thanks for viewing and commneting.
I was mowing my lawn (a bit long) and a giant King Brown snake stood up and lashed out at me and as I automatically jumped back it aimed right for the very middle of my chest. It looked as if it bit me as it was sooooo very close. Obviously only an act of God saved me that day. Excately one week later a young boy (I think he was 4 years) died in the same suburb I lived in from a King Brown snake biting him whilst playing in his own backyard. I do not believe they deserve to be protected.
If you do get bitten by King Brown or any other snake is most importantly to remember: keep still, don’t move because that’s what kills people quicker. Make sure you have a Pressure Bandage (apply in the first 30min) or any other clothing, towels ect to rep the area where you were bitten to proven the poison from traveling to your lymphatic system and into your blood.
King Brown snakes are very poison and fetal to human. My wife and I came across King Brown when we were fishing in high country during winter time. Yes snakes do still lurk around even in winter days when its 15C and sun is high. So yes keep your eyes open for the snakes.
What a beautiful snake. I am hoping to move to Aus this April- specifically to Victoria; I'm something of snake enthusiast (I don't believe in keeping them as pets); where in Vic would I go to see snakes?
It beautiful. We get a few browns around here, but i think they are eastern browns? (NSW) It's a shame when people murder snakes, if they are worried about being poisoned they should ring someone to collect the snake so It can be milked to make antivenom! I love snakes, would love a pet one, but don't want to risk it until my kids are older and responsible!(I would only get a python though!)
nearly got bitten by one of these blokes up here in north queensland today. it was a big bugger, he just came out of the grass and arced up at me i was like holy shit it looks like a cobra
The other night me and my mom had to deal with a Huntsman and tonight a centiped so that means theres only 1 thing left. my mom says at night she can here a KB because they make some strange wooping sound. If we get 1 of these things in the house what should we do without hurting it?
I hope you were carrying a long handle shovel for protection. And 10 mins may be true if you go for a jog after being bitten, but all Australian snakes have venom that travels through lymph... the more you move the quicker it kills you, in fact, aborigines from some tribes would bury someone up to their head if they were bitten and they could live for days with some chance of survival if the poison moved slow enough. Best option is to not get bitten!
@mryellow123 I do it to vermin to give them both barrels, nothing get's away LOL snakes are dangerous when you have small children so only good snake is a dead one, ask any Farmer in Australia they all do the same thing.
@bikie2 lol whatever mate... You're not the majority. Most understand it's just a matter of keeping the jard clean and kids will be fine. Oh and teaching them not to try to pick them up etc.
It's a king brown, from Australia, where there are no Cobras. And last I checked, all snakes have tails. Maybe you're confused because of the flattened appearance of the body around the head, which is done by king browns to appear bigger and more threatening.
you complete fool, its a brown and they are alot more dangerous to humans than a cobra as when they strike properly the coil up and spring at you upwards where as a cobra can only strike in a downwards direction. but well done in making a dick outta yourself
Amazing video. I wouldn't have the courage to do anything like this. It almost looked like it was chasing after the camera at the end. Most snakes just try to get away. This one looked seriously pissed off and wanted revenge.
They've venomous, not poisonous. Also, if you're reffering to the inland taipan, you're wrong. These mulga snakes eat inland taipans without any problems. The coastal taipan is by far the most potentially deadly australian snake.
This snake was a relocation(moved to a safer place) and was only kept for a couple of hours. Perspex...no..just the handheld video cam although I have used perspex when photographing snakes with a still camera. Beating snakes......never.....the only reason this snake was "attacking" was because I was getting too close to it and persistently following it. You got the wrong guy...if you see him again and he's beating an animal(cats excepted!).....go and belt him for me!!!
I hate people who kill snakes. It mostly are fellows who live in the near of the area where this snakes live and they do it without any reason. You better make pictures and movies like this guy did. Respect this great reptiles.
ok to all u guys saying the king brown is the most poisonous snake it isnt it is one of them but the taipan is the western taipan will kill in around 5 mins if direct hit but no records of a human killed by it iin one bite it can kill about 130000 mice, the eastern taipan has killed people, but australia has the worlds most poisonous snakes with both taipans but also the king brown and the common browm the death adder red belly black, and the tiger snake which eats the king browns.
no it is one of them but the taipan is also native to australia australia has the top 6 deadliest snakes people can say the rattle snake and the cobra are bad not compared to the aussie bad boys lol, anyways i just killed a 7foot king brown i was working on the ute and it was under it so i chopped its head off with a shovel.
bite goes completely untreated i.e.you don't wrap bandages around it, or keep walking and doing activities after being bitten thinking you will shake it off, are the types the venom will attack the body's tissue more rapidly. If the correct procedures are followed after being bitten by a snake and their is a hospital within 1-2hrs you have a good chance of staying alive.
pseudechis ia correct in saying is very very rare to be killed in less than 8hrs from a snake bite. It all depends on the nature of the bite (i.e. how much venom the snake injected) the nature of the person getting bitten (fitter people are more at risk as their heart pumps blood around their body more quickly causing the venom to spread around the body at a rapid pase, and the type of snake that you were bitten by. Brown snakes are the worse because they tend to inject alot of venom. Unless the
Although it is rare to die, if bitten by this species depending on the human victims weight, conditions and body type and the amount of poison (full bite from an adult)injected would render the victim dead in less than 8hrs!!
A 30kilo 50lbs child would be dead in 1hr.
The degenerative enzymes in this species makes human blood esp. gel in less than 5 minutes.
"The degenerative enzymes in this species makes human blood esp. gel in less than 5 minutes."
It's my understanding that the venom of the King Brown is different from that of the other Australian venomous snakes in that the toxins attack the muscles, rather than the nervous system.
Rapid paralysis is a common result. Next to the Taipan, I believe this is the largest of Australia's venomous snakes.
It is very rare to die from snake bite in Australia....not quite 2-3 people die a year. It is also very rare to die in under 8 hours although you may loose consciousness much quicker. This is not to underestimate the danger of this snake.....just get your facts right. You're much more likely to be ripped apart by a dog than die from snakebite. Best to leave snakes alone if you don't know what you are doing.....just stand back, let them go on their way...and admire these beautiful creatures!
Picked pumpkins in Queensland and the farmer gave us a stark warning."If you get bitten by a king brown then just go sit in the car" Upon asking why came a chilling reply "You've got about an hour to live & the nearest hospital is three hours away.Best ya mates don't have to carry ya dead body back to the car" Came across a few but only ever had to kill one.People always said they were more scared of you than you of them.Well they musta been crapping themselves stupid then lol.
lucky you! Unfortunately the days of big King Browns in the Top End seem to have gone.....most have been knocked over by the Cane Toads. 2m plus King Browns used to be a regular site......what a majestic animal. Now...like goannas they seem to be rare. If they are in your shed, leave them be...or ask why they are in your shed...are there frogs, mice etc hangin around there. If you are worried I'm sure the local snake catcher will catch and relocate it for you!
@pseudechis Saw a monster King Brown about 5 years ago along the Oodnadatta Track when we were out looking at the old Ghan railway. Easily 2 metres and very VERY fat. But it was around July so I guess there's more food for them that time of the year after it rains.

What kingy. King browns are members of the black snake family. Nice looking snakes, but they are around the 5th venomous snakes in the world.
