hi could you let me know what part number is the barrel that has the filter holder. Mine is bent beyond repair and I know i am technical enough to replace it myself.
I'm considering this to be my first L series lens since I'm new with the DSLR cams (proud ownder of a 60D). Question: Are the rumors and horror stories regarding the calibration and softness problems from this lens true? If it is, has Canon addressed this yet and fixed the issue? Would you recommend it as a first L series lens for general all purpose lens
@MikeChua I haven't heard anything about serious focus issues. I wouldn't worry too much about what you hear on the internet. Rumors spread like wildfire and before long everyone is having the same problem. I'd say maybe 5% are actual issues - and that's what service advisories and 1-year warranties are for.
Maaaan, can u help me out? My ETTL freaks on my 24-70, jumps between 24 and 70 on my flash when its at 24mm, when i play with it or move it, jumps all the time. Im trying to open it, but im stuck in how to remove the golden contacts part. I removed the tiny screws, but i cant get it to fall out to remove the ring. Would be a great help, perhaps some tips. I dont know if i can fix it myself even when i get to the focal-lengt ring part...
@Photonees This is a $1400 lens. Why would you open it up? Is it really worth it to possibly seriously damage your lens? Repair is maybe $150-250 - MAX.
