My marriage is going south and it looks like my wife and I are going to have to get divorced. After watching this video I know that we're going to have to seek legal counsel. There are so many options when it comes to dividing assets that there's no way we would be able to handle it ourselves. Thanks for the video, now I know how invaluable a lawyer's experience can be.
I'm going through a divorce right now, and I can't even imagine trying to do it without a lawyer. But now I see even more clearly why I need a lawyer so badly. I purchased my house with a settlement from an injury that I sustained. I didn't want my soon to be ex husband getting his hands on any of the equity, after all it was my injury, my settlement. My lawyer got me 100% of my house. I couldn't be more thankful. Mr. Rosen is right... HIRE A LAWYER!
My friend referred me to this video, because i'm concerned : my brother is planing to divorce and I have to help him solve this problem.
This is what i call a useful video, personnaly i never tought divorse was that hard. I recommand people experiencing that to immediatly hire a lawyer.
This video is very information heavy, which is good because information is good. However from a cinematic perspective this video gets a zero. The speaker has awkward pauses and little swallows. The black background is boring. Although this helps people focus more on words, it could be better if the speaker was set up in a comfortable chair in an office (in front of a book case or something) a set that really opens up the audience to the speaker. Just a few thoughts...
The information in this video was excelent! I thought that my lawyer was the one who had to make the decisions. I am currently going through divorce and now I am glad to know that I am the boss instead of my lawyer. It's good to know that a lawyer would put information out in the public as opposed to charging for a consultation.
Interesting video, was kind of nice having a lawyer talking to you naturally. I didn't realize it was such a bad move to borrow from my pension plan to split it up (much better to just split it up into non taxed assets).
I had no idea that so many mistakes could be made during divorces! I'm not currently married, but if I ever end up in a situation that results in divorce, I'll definately have a lawyer there to help me sort out all of the legal issues that could arise. This video certainly taught me a few things!
Found this article to be very interesting and have excellent information on divorces. While I have never gone through one and am not married, the information is very practical and useful for anyone to know. If I was going to go through a divorce I would now definitely want a lawyer there to help me with all the legalities and divisions of assets.
I never thought that divorce was simple but watching this video has really made me think about the complexities of divorce. I found the video to be very informative especially when you talked about documents that prove to be unenforceable. I actually thought that you could just write up a paper, have your spouse sign it and the whatever was on the paper was legal. If I ever have want to draft a document that enforces some action, I will seek out a lawyer first. I don't want to get screwed.
Very useful information. I myself is not into hiring lawyers. But you are right. We need someone that have the knowledge in this area. I hate divorce, especially if there are kids involved. They are the ones that will suffer more emotionally. But if I things really get worst which I am hoping that me and my husband wont end up doing this, I will surely seek some legal advice from an expert. Thanks for this great video.
I was completely unaware that pension plans and such were able to be divided. Things like that are very important to me and keeping the most possible in a divorce would be of the utmost importance to me. And if I ever go through a divorce, and hopefully it will be my only one ever, I would rather have someone who has experience in the field of divorce to help me through the process.
I dont know if my last comment was posted or not. i am telling you all right now. if you get married and you are a good person you are going to be sorry. the harder you work at a marriage the more it is used against you in divorce. 500 character comment limit cannot do this justice. marriage is a LEGAL BINDING CONTRACT THAT CON ARTISTS USE TO SCREW OVER THE INNOCENT AND YOUR BELOVED SPOUSE WHO YOU THOUGHT WOULD NEVER DO THIS WILL RAKE YOU OVER THE COALS.
I did find it helpful, and it helped me to understand property divisions and such. There are so many assests that we really dont think about that could be divided amoung the couple! Having a lawyer does help for those people who have never done it before and dont know the processes involved. I know that should it ever happen to me, I would not know where to start!
I've, unfortunately, gone through a divorce and really wish I'd seen your video back then. When I was in the process things were very confusing, legal terms, paperwork and the pain of the actual divorce. I appreciate how tip five really breaks down what a client should look for in a lawyer and what they should expect in return. Also, I'm going to call my lawyer up after the holidays. Now that you mention it, I really don't remember our pension funds coming up in the asset split.
This is good information for anyone getting a divorce. Even if you're splitting up amicably, it's still an excellent idea to have a professional look over everything just to insure there are no problems in the future. the vid has some good tips on common problems to ask about.
this was one of the very few videos which was actually helpful and relevant in this field. i'm unmarried but i have seen many people divorce and this video would definitely be an eye opener for them, because many of them are really ignorant on this topic and easily fall into its pit.
rosen very rightly said divorce is difficult, get help coz at that time people are emotionally unbalanced they need an expert to solve their problem. hope many get benefitted from this informative video.
Great video! You definitely had me think about getting a lawyer when filing a divorce. I never even thought about the popular mistakes you just mentioned which are actually very important.
I may not have been married yet but this will be great information for me when I do. I will definitely share this video to my friends.
I wish I this video would have been out when I went through my divorce. I had some good tips. I did not know property didn't have to be divided equally. I always thought it had to be a 50/50 split. This is a good free resource.
O ya, and by the way, my friend is a lawyer and he confirmed that most of this information is actually true. This is one of the few videos that gives good free and true information. thanks.

This video is so helpful. I never knew any of those things. My uncle wants to get a divorce and I will definitely tell him to watch this video. Thanks for the video, it was Great!!
I have never gotten married for fear of divorce. The whole process seems so scary to me. I have had long term relationships and when we split we still had to divide assets and it would have been nice to have someone else to moderate the process. The advice about remembering that you are the boss with your attorney is good in any situation so that the outcome is best for you and not what the lawyer feels is best. Very helpful and informative video.
people think and are TOLD they will never break up with their one true love.
it is all a lie. you most often find that the person you thought you married is not the person you actually married.
divorce is often savagely brutal and will involve exposing many of your private secrets while your beloved rips and tears at you WITH SAVAGERY YOU NEVER KNEW EXISTED TO SQUEEZE EVERY LAST PENNY OUT OF YOU.
This was a nice video. This will certainly be comforting to someone in a situation that may be anything but comfortable. Lee seems very sincere - and provides some worthwhile information in a manner that is straightforward and relatively easy to understand.
He also helps reassure people of the importance of hiring a lawyer, and some of the major pitfalls that you may fall into without one. He makes a good point; divorce is difficult, get some help!
Mr Rosen brought up several good points in this video. I think too many people try to go it alone, especially if the divorce is amicable, and they just don't truly see what needs dividing, or how difficult their spouse may be to deal with after the divorce is final. They will both move on with their lives, and it makes sense that each should have someone in THEIR corner to make sure they have a leg up on the rest of their lives.
Great video! Hiring a lawyer is one of the most important thing you can do in the event of a divorce, it doesn't matter if you are divorcing nicely or having a hard time of it, a lawyer is a must! The point that Mr. Rosen makes about your lawyer having been through this hundreds of time should be taken to heart, it's easy to think that you can do this by yourself, but a divorce involves a lot of things that many people just don't think about and that is why hiring a lawyer is worth every penny!
Mr. Rosen had some great points. It seems like the points are very well thought out and informative. The mistakes pointed out have a great impact on the person going for a divorce, and I found this video to be enlightening. The explanation provided in this video is simple and lucid without any heavy legal lingo and so helpful.
Well, maybe it is a good thing I ain't married. Nor plan on getting married. For the fear of divorce. As I am waiting to get married once and only once my friends!
Great video clearly explains what are the mistakes everyone is doing while getting divorce and give solutions as how to live a better life after divorce by getting all the 50-50 shares from the partner. This can be achieved only with the help of a good Lawyer.
Having a good lawyer that will take the time to talk things out and really explain your options during a divorce, is the single best thing you can have going for you during a divorce. I went through a divorce recently without one and now I really regret it. Don't let your desire to have the process over cloud your judgment like I did.
This is a great video full of wonderful information. For anyone considering a divorce, they should watch this video to get a great overview of the process along with tips and tricks.
This video is helpful for someone that is struggling in a divorce. My partner went through this for a year, and it finally ended in sept of 08. She did not have a lawyer due to money shortage, but it would have been great to have a video like this giving the options of how to attain one. I think the most helpful point this video offered was the info about what assets could be divided. Most people just think bills, not 401ks and pensions.
I have never heard that you should split assesses including your retirement plans! I would never have even thought of that! I also appreciated your emphasis that a document I draft up myself must be done properly. Otherwise, it might not be enforeceable. Excellent information that will really be of help to me in my situation!
I really like what you said about how YOU are the decision maker, not your lawyer. I think that gets kind of turned around these days and in a situation like this it's bad when that happens. Anyway, good info, I appreciate your perspective on it.
I have a good friend who is going to be getting divorced. I sent this video to her because she says that she really needs to get out of the relationship but she just does not have the money. this video made her realize that she should not let that affect her decision. Thanks.
That was a very good video presented by Lee-Rosen and iam very thankful for his valuable advices beacuse after seeing this video i suggested my friend who is going to get divorced to watch the video. she initially hesitated to appoint an attorney and after seeing the video she came to know the mistake that she is going to do with out appointing a lawyer. Lee Rosen has pointed out the common mistakes which can be handled better only by an experienceed lawyer. I thank him once again.
My parents divorced after 25 years of marriage. It was really ugly, as you say. Now, after seeing that this happend in my family, I can't stop wonder if it will happen to me. Your presentation was really to the point. It gave me some ideeas what and how to protect, in order that to a divorce to be in more benefit.
I can't even IMAGINE trying to go through my divorce right now without a lawyer, but not for all the reasons he mentioned. Those only confirm exactly what I thought... I have no clue what I am doing and I need someone with experience to handle everything that needs to be done. I would have never thought of retirement funds, and I certainly didn't know about the 50/50 split on the house. My lawyer got me 100% of the house since it was clearly my money that bought it.
I originally thought that hiring an attorney would just add more issues and waste money. Now I see that it could just cost more money if I don't. I didn't even think about the retirement plan. Also, glad to hear that property division doesn't have to be 50/50. This is really go info and I think I'll be considering hiring an attorney. Totally worth the money and causing less hassle.
It's important during a divorce to avoid all of the mistakes that are presented here.I think mistake number 4 is the most interesting because I didn't thought of that and it's really good to know when you decide to get divorced.
But first of all you definitely need to get a divorce lawyerbefore you make any step.
If I was divorcing I would think this video would be a real help. I really found it useful to know the "mistakes" divorcees will make. Because with some of those mistakes I would probably make them, because I wouldn't know how to do all that splitting. This was a very useful video, something someone going through a divorce should watch.
I know this may come as a shock, but Mr. Rosen comes off as a very caring, knowledgable and experienced attorney with great expertise in the area of divorce law. I've been through one divorce, and I really wish I had seen this video before I started down that road. His comments were very common sense. I think the most valuable information was about payment options, since so many people are apprehensive about the fees lawyers charge. Glad I watched this!
This is great advice for anyone going through a divorce. God forbid I ever need this advice. But if I do, it will be very helpful. The common mistakes Lee Rosen mentions would be mistakes that I woud probably make. I especially like it when he says - you'll be going through a divorce once, your lawyer goes through hundreds or some words to that effect.
Excellent advice on hiring an attorney for a divorce. I know some people who have been burned very badly in a divorce when they either did not get an attorney or shared an attorney with their spouse. Sometimes the time of the divorce is too turbulent to think clearly. Like Lee says in the video, go with a professional when you get a divorce!

Sometimes the time of the divorce is too turbulent to think clearly. Like Lee says in the video, go with a professional when you get a divorce!
While I am too young to be even thinking about divorce right now, this video is very informative to anyone considering or in the preliminary stages of divorce proceedings. Mr. Rosen calls to mind many details that are often overlooked and, even more important, the mistakes people make (esp. in property distribution). Once again, this video should be a top choice for anyone in any stage of divorce and Mr. Rosen, keep up the good work.
I found this video very informative, and as said by Lee Rosen in the video, I too had the misconception that divorce lawyers make things difficult. But after watching this video, I was amazed at finding various points which are often overlooked by me. The mistakes pointed out have a great impact on the person going for a divorce, and I found this video to be enlightening. The explanation provided in this video is simple and lucid without any heavy legal lingo and so helpful.
I think Lee Rosen has justified the need of hiring a lawyer to help you with the divorce procedure. The mistakes that he has listed are just the ones which we make without a lawyer and which could cost us heavily.
Reaaly a excellent video for the person who seeks for the legal divorce. your points are very helpful and the mistakes need to be notified are exceleent. The mistakes 2 is really true in many cases that they surely made mistake in dividing the property. This great tips for the needed person nad handling the lawyer too very good. Thanks for giving such a nice video.
Amazingly good information. So happy to see that you don't have to go to court to settle a divorce. Will be information that I will not only use but share with friends. It is important to look at all the information you can before going into a divorce.
I thought Lee Rosen had some great points about the perks of hiring a lawyer to aid in a divorce. He had some great information about how to split up a retirement fund. He really seems to know what he's talking about. I bet you he has done this a lot.
Great point-to-point explanation. I think more people would approach their divorce with far less dread and urgency if they could get simple explanations like these. Also, knowing your lawyer has been there before but still cares about your individual case, concerns and future can be the difference between settling things fairly and trying to fast-track things and ending up with nothing.
Nice video, very interesting! More power.
