hey ive got a canon 7d and after effects w/ twixtor. everytime i import a video shot in 60p to after effects, and simply play the video back, it plays back at about half speed, or 27fps or less. i changed all the settings in AE to 60fps. is there something that im missing here? do i need to be shooting in RAW? i have no idea. i want to use twixtor to slow down some videos, but can't see what my video looks like in realtime.
Hi, I would like to ask you I have 5d Mk 2 but it doesn't have 60 fps or 30 fps it has only 24 and 25 do you know why? And also you recommend for ISO settings not to go below 200 but I have shot on even 100 ISO and I don't see any problem.
Hello, I have a question. I use the 550D and let's say that's the same video thing. When doing slow motion at 60 fps I get artefacts and ghosty image when slowing down using twixtor but slowing down a lot, to 5% for example, not to 24 fps. What shutter speed do you recommend for extreme slow motions? Thank you a lot..
It does have auto focus during video, but it isn't optimal. You'll get better results with manual focus! It depends if you want to use it in a professional way.
When shooting video with the 5d M2, what is physically going on inside the camera? Is the sensor simply collecting the images and putting it on the flash card with the shutter and 2 curtains always open or are the 2 curtains and/or shutter opening and closing at various rates of speed set by you shutter speed settting?
I would think if the 2 curtains/shutter are opening and closing all the time it would shorten their life very quickly.
I must say I'm pretty impressed with the video mode of the 7D, I've never really taken photocamera video seriously untill I saw some footage of the Canon a while ago.
The ability to use slomotion as well sure is helpful, I sorta regret buying a videocamera now. Should've just upgraded my dslr.
Ey Thanks! I thought of that, though it is a bit estrange, the possibilities should be equal... system adaptations i guess. thanks again, problem fixed!
Hello there! first of all, thank you for posting this videos, they really help. Congrats!
One question. I just bought a 7D, and as I was watching your slow motion prep video, and I realized that my camera does not have 60frames in the 1280x720 and either the 30frames in the 1920x1080 in the configuration menu, how comes? does it have to do with software updating or my lens configuration. Thanks again.
Yeah you want the shutter speed to be as close to double the framerate as possible. On the 7d however, there is no 1/48 setting, so 1/50 would be the way to go.
it should be up tonight. I shot it all last night, then the screen capture program destroyed the output as it was writing the file. So I have to still reshoot and edit it in. At the end, all of the videos will link together like the d90 tutorial.
@eyepatchentertainmen idk but i think there is a problem with my eos 7d because on movie recording size it says 1920x1080 25 frames 1920x1080 24 frames and for 1280x720 50 frames not 30 25 and 60
aaaaaah, lolz! I was playing with my D90 5min ago and I found out that the flourescent lights disappeared at some apertures.. So I just got to control it like you say. but has this anything to do with slowmotion? I also posted an other comment on your Slowmotion video of the D90 an hour ago, maybe my question is better there =/ .
what shutter do you recommend for slowmo with the D90? also 1/50? And what do you mean with the correct shutter, does it mean that you got less blur when you slow the video down. Or does it mean that you get more blur when slowing down?
With the D90, the shutter would be 1/50. You cant control the shutter in video mode, so you would need to use the flashlight + aperture control trick to try and reach the closest to this number. If you actually hit 1/50, the rolling lines on the screen with flourescent lights will go away.

On canon manual its said Do not point your camera at the sun while shooting a video because it may damage your sensor.

Hi, thank you for your helpful tutorials!
I tried this with my new 7D, but it has no option for 60fps, only 24, 25 and 50.
Do u know why?
Dorfjockel89 1 year ago
@Dorfjockel89 I'm not a pro at all, but this looks like it caused by a PAL system setup, if you change to NTSC, you should get the 30/60fps options

You're camera is set up for the PAL video system, switch the Video System setting to NTSC and you will then see the 60 and 30.

Try setting your 7D to NTSC. It must be set on PAL at the moment and this will only give you the options of 24,25 and 50 fps.
