Chechnya is a country with its own individual culture and people, the russians dcided to invade in the early nineties and the people have suffered greatly. It is all reminicent of the war in Iraq, Russia has a media monopoly on the situation so all press coverage is greatly biased and misrepresented, there is practically no footage on you tube of Chechnya after 1999 which is not Russian media propoganda. very disturbing, the world does not know what is happening there, which suggests it is bad.

Heh, my cosin knows, he spent a year over there 2 years back. It is NOT a country, it is merely a Russian republic, just like many in the caucasus. They had their shot at independence and they blew it by blowing up appartment buildings in Moscow as well as their illfated attempt at conquering Dagestan. Most of the rebel leaders are dead and the situation is completely pacified. There have been no major terrorist attacks this past year.
