There is an excellent book everyone should read, called The Law Of The Somalis, by prof. Michael Van Notten.

Before Somalia was colonized, it was a kritocracy, while means "rule of judges", although judges were more referees than rulers. They would decide disputes between families and clans.

The Union Of Islamic Courts is almost a return of this type of (non-) government.

don't get me wrong the cia and state dept totally fucked this up why they couldn't help the courts instead of distroying them is a act of the upmost stupidity! but what to do now if you let alshabab keep contol you risk genocide, its really a tough world and if stable or somewhat stable countries like ghana,kenya,south africa,and others can make the african union more affective then there might be a chance and i say a chance, someone need to kick the neo cons in america in the ass!

We must support the African Union, although i am uncomfortable with us involvement (thus corportate interest) the African Union is the only way to help stableize Africa, this mindless killing in the name of God is a joke!

you are partly right, but the proxy is thru China via Wall Mart! to protect the oil pipelines for China thus feeding the beast (Wall Mart corporate Greed) but the slaughter of their own people is unforgiveable!
