you can all go fuck your mamas cuz bob probert was the greatest enforcer in nhl history! just look at the stats! more than 50 points and almost 400 pim in single season should tell you the obvious! domi and twist are only to stay standing eventually against him..lucky bitches ;)
I always admired Berube and thought he was underrated as one of the best fighters in the league. He is one of the few who beat Bob Probert pretty cleanly everytime bout
@mikell011 you come across as a grade A douche bag. Have fun in your shit ass lesser country. Points and laughs. Now run along little micheal, your mom is calling.
@hoopsphan99 you're an idiot. doc emerick is the best announcer in hockey. hands down. the worst is the washington capitals announcer who does some of the versus games he makes me want to jam an ice pick in my ears
Ranirv!!! O' Reilly a all -time punching bag??? Either it's a typo or you might have taken too many shots to the head. It baffles me how many so-called fight fans have no clue what a true tough guy is really like! If you hate O'Reilly and the Bruins say so but don't dispute his toughness and fighting prowess!
First of all-the mullet was part of Berube's charm. Secondly-very few guys just stood there and threw bombs like Berube-the guy never ducked his head. Also O'Rielly had great heart and courage, but will go down as one of the all time punching bags in NHL history. Same as Cam Neely-not sure he ever one a fight. Check You Tube video of Wendel Clark dropping him with one punch.
You must be on something. O\Reilly a punching bag? He won 90% of his fights and his legacy in hockey is having the heart of a lion and one of the best fighters ever. He had balls enough to stand there and trade punches not like the fighters of this era like Huggy Bear Brashear the coward. As far as Neely goes. he rarely lost a fight. All the evidence is here on You'tube. You must live in a fantasy world by saying shit like that. Why do you think they have tough guy reps for? Because they lost?
Go watch Neely vs. Lindy Ruff. Tell me if you think Neely didn't win. Or Chychuryn or Samuelson. He only lost 2 or 3 fights his whole career. You obviously hate the Bruins but that's OK. We don't want babies like you who can't see reality or admit defeat.
wtf are you talking about? im a toronto fan and a huge wendel fan but neely never winning a fight??? and o'reilly a punching bag??? WOW those are bold statements
That's just crazy talk. O'Reilly was not a punching bag. He won more often than he lost, had his fair share of draws, and always landed punches in every fight to let his opponents know they were in one. I'm not even a Boston fan, but you are an idiot. Neely won the majority of his fights. He lost a lot more than 2 or 3 times though. That other guy Joe5346 killed everything he wrote with his exaggerations as well. People on here are too biased and never do their research before they comment.
Thank you for saving me from writing this but you have to remeber that neely was lighter than most people he was fighting and there entire job was fighting
oreilly was an awesome fighter not the toughest in the league but feared nobody and every fighter gets the shit kicked out of him atleast one time in their career
Haha. You must be joking. Terrible fighters don;t punch the livin shit out of legendary fighters like Clarke Gillies. Dave Schultz, Tiger Williams, Chris Nilan, Keith Magneson. He took alot of shots but that's what happens when you stand there and trade punches. It takes balls not like today's fighters who are scared they might mess up their pretty little faces. For all the shots he took he never got knocked out and never gave up. He gave out alot more than he received. A legend......
sparwood8..kiss my ass!!! Berube, one of the top enforcers in the nhl. the twister was feared because of his right hand..but berube took him on. u were one of my favorites berube. Native Pride!
would you like me to post you to a link or Terry beating Dave Schultz's ass? They fought 6 times in their Career and Terry o'Reilly won 4 and lost 2. I can give you the dates of each. 1st fight March 30th 74 O'Reiley wins. May 9th, Schultz wins, May 14th, O'Reilly wins, 1975 Jan 25th O'Reiley wins again, 1976 October 23rd Schultz wins one and O'Reiley wins the rematch (same game 2 fights) Perhaps you are a delusional Philly fan that should stick to watching Dave Brown replays.
O'Reilley kicked Schultz's ass....Byers kicked Berube's ass,but Dave Brown beat Miller. Boston also had Cashman, Wensink, Stan Jonathan, Willie Plett and tons of other great fighters back in the day. Hell, even their great players like Orr, Neely, Ken Hodge and Ray Bourque could all fight when tested. The Big Bad Bruins were tougher than the Broad Street Bullies.
Lol..."big bad bruins" bunch of pussies, Flyers are way tougher than the Bruins ever were, haven't you seen Brashear pummel McCarthy or Primeau beat on Boynton....guess not.
Haven't you seen Byers PUMMEL Berube, who was bleeding from the eye and mouth? Haven't you seen Neely pound Chychrun, Scott Mellanby, Kjell Samuelsson and Ryan McGill? Tocchet and Neely was a great fight, and I'd give Rick a slight edge in that fight. But that's the only Flyer EVER to get a win over Neely. Sandy McCarthy was a on the Bruins for a year. Calling him a Bruin is like Calling Jay Wells a Flyer. If you do either, you are a fucking KNOB who knows nothing about hockey!
Are you kidding me? Berube was a much better fighter than Lyndon Byers ever was.Berube had a 20 year NHL career,Byers lasted maybe 5 and is now flipping burgers somewhere.Chief has moved on to Coach the Phantoms of the AHL and Flyers of the NHL.
Chief Berube will go down in history as one of the top 10 enforcers all time....he fought everyone and everyone. He beat the likes of Probert,Kocur,Domi and McSorley in their primes.
Not only that, Chief was a helluva nice guy too off the ice. Always had time to talk to the fans and he has great hockey knowledge as evidenced by his coaching.
i agree with most of what you say,,but berube never beat kocur,,,but he was tough as nails and a top enforcer. i liked to watch him alot, always put on a show.
@deathmetalferret If Berube was a better fighter than Byers he wouldn't have gotten beat so soundly by Byers in Boston. Byers was a horrible player and plagued by injuries which helped shorten his career. Berube was a good fighter but no where near top ten all time or even top 10 of his era. If you like him that's cool, but IMO he wouldn't make top 30 all time.
no way in hell were the Bruins "tougher" than Philly.
Dave Brown alone would annihilate every Bruins player you mentioned...yeah seriously!
The Flyers had the likes of Shultz,Holmgren,Behn Wilson,Battleship Kelly,Cochrane,Stanley,Wells,Holt,Tocchet,Berube,Brown,Antoski,Kordic,Fotiu,Hospodar,Mellanby ,Brashear,McCarthy just to name a few.
Half the players you named played the majority of their career somewhere else! LMAO If you wanna name every goon that just put on the uniform for a couple of seasons with your team, then cross off Tocchet because he was a Bruin too. If you want to be rational and go with players who played the MAJORITY or PRIME of their careers for each team, then stick to that criteria. You named Jay Wells and Nick Fotiu! LMAO Wells played 2 years there, and Fotiu 1 year! ARE YOU ON CRACK?
The instigator rule has got to go, at least for a player's first fight in a game. If a player starts two fights in a game, then he should get a five-minute instigator penalty, then maybe ten minutes for the third. Maybe that will help with the head-shots and the stick incidents.
threeby - your partly right, the instigator has to go but whats with the extra 5? makes no sense -- these are grown men playing a game/getting paid - they know ther roles, let THEM police it, not the aholes from the league office. This "new NHL" crap is so tuff 2 watch, i watch less + less games - LONG LIVE REAL tuff hockey.
Bah, weak fight. Berube was one tough SOB. He laid it on Probby pretty good back in the day.

Twist landed 2 big punches to the helmet of Berube who lost his helmet.
Even fight surely.
Maybe slight edge/edge Berube but it can be as well edge Twist though.
But my call is a DRAW.
Pretty good bout.
