  • Hello,and thanks for your video i subscribed..I wanted to know is that the four channel nano? and is it capable to be used to check the sensors on my vehicle , for example coolant temp,throttle position,oxygen,and other sensors and actuators..also the fuel injectors and fuel pump..i see techs using expensive automobile diagnostic equip. like snap on modis"but if i can attach it to a sensor and see what wave i get and match to a good known one,i can see it works correctly.Please help the newbie J

  • @CHIBA280CRV You are thinking of the DSO Quad. Not completely sure if it will work for what you want to do, but probably will.

  • @CHIBA280CRV Most sensors don't produce a wave, except for hall effect sensors, like cam and crank position, wheel speed and vehicle speed sensors. Throttle position sensors and temperature sensors just change resistance, oxygen sensors produce a voltage, so those can be tested with a standard multimeter. Now if you're playing deep into the computer systems of a modern car, like debugging CAN bus stuff, a really good digital oscilloscope will come in handy.

  • That affect of seeing the waveform change to a lower frequency due to insufficient sampling rate is called Aliasing. It's the same reason that wagon wheels appear to be rotating backwards in the old Western movies.
