I have a recording of Vanda & Young from Alberts studios, from Triple J radio (from their Producers series of audio docos). A very good and informative clip (audio of Bon in there). But its over 20min and would need a chop or two.
I had no idea they penned so many good songs. But my understanding is that Stevie Wright didn't do too bad himself. I will never understand why the Easybeats didn't end up as one of the most popular & best groups of all time!
What's amazing is that Vanda & Young successfully wrote/produced numerous pop and hard rock hits at the same time.
Another little know fact about V&Y is that they also were huge influences on producers and songwriters that worked under them. Two examples; Mark Opitz and Don Walker. Walker says that Vanda & Young taught him how to craft and arrange radio friendly music.
It's such a shame that Vanda and Young really aren't appreciated for the HUGE contribution they have made to Australian music. They really are two utterly brilliant men.
Vanda and Young......musical genius ! Thank you SO much guys for all the beautiful music you have given us over the years !

And let's not forget when "brother George" did a stint as bassist with ACDC for a minute when they were between bassists.

they just completely left out the production on AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, The Angels and Choirboys.
they nvented the aussie/pub rock sound and they didnt even mention it!

I like how they left out Stevie Wright's importance to the songwriting of the easybeats that Harry Vanda replaced when they went to England.

What a couple of brilliant guys. Aussies' Lennon and McCartney? They should be inducted in the Rock and Roll hall of Fame.
