I think they were refering to an actual band called Armageddon. They were comprised of ex- Yardbird memeber Keith Relf, Martin Pugh who had worked with Rod Stewert, Bobby Caldwell who was a drummer for the band Captain Beyond, and Louis Cennamo who was the bassist. They only released one album in 1975. They broke up after Keith Relf electrocuted himself while playing guitar. I've never heard the album myself so whether its lame or not is a mystery to me.
