  • I miss these.

  • "Does not the sheer splendubious celebritascity of this most merrilous time warm the gayly cockles of your potatoey dinghard?"

Jesus H. thought I was going to choke on that one.

  • This is clearly fake... they just cut out the mouth....

  • @MoldytoasterMedia "This is clearly fake....."; uh....yeah!!

  • @MoldytoasterMedia figured that out all by yourself, did ya.

  • @MoldytoasterMedia I don't think so, they would've been sued into bankruptcy if it were fake but Conan is still going strong

  • @MoldytoasterMedia i would have never figured that out

  • LOL I remember being so high and watching these in high school.

  • They really need to put out a DVD compiling all the clutch cargo bits. They won't, but they should.

  • I LOVED IT MAN !

  • The Anger by the Manger

  • These clips with Conan talking to the celebrities with the Clutch Cargo lips are a fine example of how excellent Conan's NBC show really was. He should've been content with what he had because he had it GREAT. What exactly was so terrible about being second bannana to Leno's show anyway?

Conan would still be there hosting his New York show to this day. If only he hadn't been so full of foolish pride and thrown it all away. I really miss it.

  • @whyyyyou

it's not foolish pride, it was dignity man

  • @TheBoomShakaLuka I forgot about If They mated. Which these are puzzling because both gimmicks would have been perfect for the earlier hour as neither was overtly offensive in any way, and almost any age group could find it funny. It's a lot like Leno's "headlines" and "eBay" gimmicks, it's simple and can be adjusted easily for any audience.

  • Why the fuck did they have to ruin this funny, funny show. Damn those execs in hollywood.

  • Ones with martha Stuart are the best

  • It seems like Smigel improvs sometimes to make Conan laugh.

  • @MorrisseyOner Well sure. That was part of the exercise; not just improvising, but the challenge of making Conan laugh.

  • IMO, these bits were the most genius part of Conan. Something about the mouth moving combined with the excellent comedy writing is just too funny. They improved the bit over the yrs because when conan first started, the mouths didn't even move and the impersonations were really generalized. I hardly ever lol, even though I write it, but during these bits, I actually laugh

  • Oh my god, I'm in tears from laughter. " I'll be on Silk Stalkings January 10th" That was the funniest moment of the skit!! I can't stop laughing!

    January 10th is my birthday!!!!

  • Thanks for the post. I've been wanting to see this again since I saw it when it originally aired.

  • anyone have the one where don king go's my andy missing green beer pissing amigo lol ?

  • Rob Smigel is the best.

  • It sounded like he said, "anger in the manga".

  • I loved these bits-some of the best on that show ever. Some of the ones with Geraldo really made me laugh -'rata tata tata'

  • Thanks you so much for the post!! This absolutely was some of Conans best stuff: Bob Dole, Clinton, John McCain and of course Arnold as well as all the others (man I miss this stuff Smigel was the best).

  • When was the last time Conan did this on either Late Night or the Tonight Show? I cannot remember the last time he did the "live interview" and these were some of the best bits ever. He would have gotten higher ratings on Tonight if he'd brought back the live via sat. interview!!

  • @CombatSportFan D U D E no kidding. I was saying that everyday.

  • This was some of Conan's best stuff. Letting Smigel go off behind a Clutch Cargo character. Dole, Clinton, Don King, Arnold, etc.

I liked these kind of bits so much more than the overplayed Triumph, quite honestly Smigel was a dick to a lot of those people they ambushed with the Triumph puppet.

  • I remember this like it was yesterday. Conan was perfect on Late Night!

  • Ditto!

  • Robert Smigel is a genius..Straight out of New Jersey,

  • Doesn't the guy who does Bob Dole and Clinton also do the voice of Triumph?

  • Yup. That's Robert Smigel. He also does Ira, Conan's publicist, as well as tons of other voices. Brilliant guy.

  • I think this was Norm MacDonald doing Bob Dole this time?

  • Hmmm, I don't think so. I know Norm did a great Dole, but I'm 99% sure it's also Smigel, just from the basic logistics. He sits on the side as the different pictures are put up. As he does both Dole and King, why would they bring in Norm to do Dole - both of which Smigel does? Besides, just from the voice, the tone and the style, it's definitely Smigel.

  • Wow, i have tears running down my face. This is some funny, funny... funny stuff.

    Funny.

  • Fantastic thanks - MORE!!!

  • LOL!! MORE Please!

  • Conan's Don King was the best...

also great Bill Clinton and Bob Dole!

  • the funniest telescreen interview I ever saw was with John Kerry in a Red Sox hat singing "Take me out to the Ball Game..." I laughed so hard I almost died..

  • post some more, newer!!!!

    plz.

  • Sorry: I stopped watching Conan in 1999! I'm uploading the "old" stuff precisely because, IMHO, they're exponentially better and funnier!

  • dole is fuckin' sweet!

  • How does Conan not laugh at "Don King"?

  • Dole is good too

  • Hahahaha! Don King is the best! Do you have any more of him?
