@simisimi9 yes i prefer the top of her voice over tebaldi but that's me. everyone has an opinion and I heard Tebaldi in her prime, still Millo was my favorite spinto. Her voice was large rich in house and had it all plus the singer had heart and warmth besides.
THANNKS TOMMY FOR GIVING US THE CHANCE TO HEAR AND SEE ONE OF THE MOST PERFECT INTERPRETATTIONS OF THIS ARIA.....WITH A TRUE GREAT ARTIST ...THANKS AGAIN !!!!
@vinyltovideo Yes--- you are so right! I have heard her in the house and her voice is amazing, just as you hear it here. Not since Tebaldi as far as this voice type have I heard such a rich beautiful powerful voice combined with an excellent top and emotion, all on target. She does not take a back seat to anyone ever! Brava Millo.
@SHICOFF1 Millo is a thousand times better than tebaldi......she sings with the heart and soul....not only pretty noises that says nothing about the the feelings of the character portrayed and nothing to the one that listens and/or is watching !!!
The announcer at the beginning was almost enough for me to close the window but thank God I didn't. Millow is one of the few sopranos (and opera singers in general) of that era worth listening to. Excellent performance; thanks for posting!
@VinylToVideo 'The announcer at the beginning' is none less than Anne Sofie von Otter, the esteemed Swedish mezzo-soprano. This gala performance only featured the second act of Die Fledermaus and the resulting 'party scene'. I would have assumed you would have known this my friend in music... then again...Jan Peerce was not on the list... a few decades late...
Did anyone, ANYONE, ever sing this better? I mean, really.

Millo has ALWAYS kept her voice, young and fresh for a LONG time.
Despite of the heavy reportoire, smart singing.
Never too much and never pushed.
Even the high note here...has a Mozartian quality...and then floats UP.
Very VERY nice!
