It's not as much the resolution of the video as it is the parts used in the camera. Your camera is probably made more for pictures than movies but mine is made more for movies than pictures.
one thing to remeber is that when u take a picture, u use 6.0 megapixles. (which is about 3000 x 2000 pixles). When you take a video with ur camera, its probably taking a 640 x 480 pixel video at 27.97 fps (frames per second). His camera has better video resolution and (1900 x 1200) (this is HD) and shoots at 30 fps. 30 fps is better for youtube cuz when youtube changes all videos to 15 fps, so when you compress 29.97 to 15... the number is uneven, while 30 all u do is divide the frames by two

ok i saw it said 2.98 megapixels how come in my one its 6.0 megapxels (digital cam) but its not as clear and graphical as yours?
