Oh yeah!!! The Sydney Olympics was a crowning moment for me the opening and closing ceremonies were the best that Australia could present to the world. I was so proud to be an Australian - probably for the first time ever.
Saw him live at the O2 in Newcastle (UK) a couple of weeks ago... First time I'd seen him live since way back in 1988... He really does get better with age! A brilliant gig... See him while you can!
I saw a lot of very good performances by rally fantastic artits at this event, but Jimmy Barnes definetivly was THE man of the evening. What a voice! I'm sure it can cause an earthquake.
taupo78- Check out Cold Chisel...Jimmys first band..in Germany they sold more records outside of Australia than any country (good taste). They played Rockpalaste in 82. it's available in Australis on DVD. Line records picked up Chisel ..check out Circus Animals and East Album..cheers

INXS, JIMMY BARNES, MIDNIGHT OIL, MEN A WORK, etc pour ,à mon avis, la meilleure cérémonie de cloture olympique de tous les temps.... AUSTRALIA ...FOREVER
The performance at the olimpic games was the first time I heard a song of jimmy barnes. Unfortunately he is not very established in germany. But for me this performance was the reason, that i wanted to know more about this great voice. Since this time I´m a big fan. Thanks for posting.
@taupo78 He is aging, gracefully (most unlike him) but released an album Rage & Ruin last year. Love this glaswegian to death. Touring Europe in next couple of months. Check out COLD CHISEL (band he evolved from)
@taupo78 he's a national treasure, mate...one of the best to come out of australia...of scottish heritage, like a lot of our great stars...ac dc among them.
My favourite (Scottish born) Aussie singer Jimmy Barnes sings one of my all time favourite songs Working Class Man at the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympics in 2000. He rocks.
I dont remember Jimmy dropping the F bomb there (live on ABC TV), i remember he did it alot of other times, Steve Vizard show, anyone remember that???lol On this occasion i recall he performed Land of a Thousand Dances and Chain of Fools with a backing track with live vocals....sounded great!
I was there performing on Jimi's song... This was amazing. Great to watch it on YouTube... I'd like to see more videos as I did not managed to spot myself and that would be nice!

I have heard him sing this a few times - live. My opinion, he gave it everything and more here. My favourite version.
