That part is 100% luck, and sadly you can only run past him like that maybe 5% of the time, so unless you're trying for the record or something (like this run I needed to do it to break the record at the time) you're better off just taking the 5 seconds to kill him. On this particular run he actually pulled a grenade and killed himself. Sometimes he flat out just doesn't react to you though, both of those locker guards are made very unresponsive.

@thebaddestkidx Those are "quickpauses". Every time you pause speeds up the following pause time. So I do one whenever I'm standing somewhere waiting anyways, and these add up so the pause for the door decoder goes very fast, saving about 2 seconds.

Those are called quickpauses. Each time you pause, the next pause will be quicker. So basically I'm doing quickpauses in spots where I'm standing/waiting to move again anyways, so that the pause for the door decoder is very fast.

Also! I tried playing this the other day. I couldn't do very well because my controllers have poor joy stick movement. Do you keep a special cotroller seperate just to play this game?

Gotcha. Yeah he did, and skipping him is also part of the strat since I couldn't manage to beat the old WR (1:51) with stopping to kill him. Sometimes he'll throw the grenade, and sometimes he flat out won't see you, somehow. Maybe only a 10% success rate though.

I keep the same controllers but buy joystick replacements off Ebay, usually around 2 for $15. Can't live without them, bad joysticks are brutal to play with. But yeah I do usually keep one controller separate so it wears slower.

Having that guy throw a grenade is like an added bonuse on top of all the action. As for the controller, I had no idea it was possible to buy joy stick replacements. I'm posting a link to the capture card I have in your topic right now. Btw, you won't be capturing straight out of your N64, usually you record on a VCR and capture out of that. So as long as the card has video/audio input, you should be good. But yeah, check your topic.

I wondered about that too, and the only way that could be legit is if he had a bad Doak and just continued anyways for a failed run, by attracting those 2 guards to let him into the bottling room, although with having to kill them implies a sub-2:00 pace...not to mention that idea to get into the bottling room probably wouldn't be obvious to a non-eliter anyways. So yeah, a bit doubtful.

You shouldn't take offense to the comment, the-elite has been collaborating and finding new strategies between its members for 10 years, whereas any outsider would have to come up with this stuff completely on his own. I bet you at least 95% of non-eliters think it's impossible to get into the bottling room without the decoder.

Yeah well i started playing GE 2 months ago. i started practicing Facility DLTK about a month ago. I just got 1:58 but i can do better. Also 2:11 without the door decoder. Gotta buy a Capture Card first though.. Where did you tbuy your Capture Card Eddie?

Anyways, I found my CC online back in '06, so don't remember exactly where, but I do remember it was $60, not bad.

That's funny, one eliter is traveling to Denmark this summer and just made a topic at the message boards asking if anyone's from there (apparently not).

There are very small differences for NTSC vs. PAL, just small stuff like lag or cinemas, so minor you can't even notice by watching really. PAL has advantages on some levels too, most noticeably Train. But yeah, not even relevant if you're just doing DLTK.

how come the guards that spawn after u go into the room with lockers take so long to come 4 u? when i do tis they always come while i am killing everyone in the room before the labs and i get shot form behind

They don't spawn nearly quickly enough to catch up to me at this pace. Also notice I closed both doors behind me after the locker room, maybe you're not doing that and getting shot from way back.

Or, you might just be confusing the spawning guards with the wandering guard from the beginning area who hears your gunfire killing the first locker guard and can catch up pretty quick.

Easier to keep track of everything going on around you, especially after passing the lockers area because you have guards closely trailing you there and it helps to be able to easily hear when doors are being opened, etc.
