Ex-witness here. I've been disfellowshipped almost 10 years now. It bothers me each and everyday and is a big division within my family. My 2 children are being raised not knowng how to socailize as a family. I love all witnesses, however this disfollowshipping doctorine definitely does break families up. The religion and its beliefs may stay intacted but family relationships often fall apart. I wish someone would do a formal investigation and fight this awful doctorine, we're losing families.
I used to be a JW. I left after 2 years as I decided it was not a God I knew. My God was love and peace, and I could not not relate to a God of 'excessive discipline'. Also, please explain half empty auditoriums at assemblies. Watch any news clip from an assembly and there are a lot of empty seats. I remember stadium sized assemblies where you couldn't even find a seat. Are people leaving the WTS or just not going to the assemblies? I understand your defensive stance, but it simply isn't true.
@2edgedsw0rd not true, 2edged. I know, in my area, at least 6 kingdom halls have pooled together to make 3 kingdom halls...not new kingdom halls, mind you but the same kingdom halls. Does it make sense that, if the JWs are growing that they are able to combine kingdom halls? Also, the vast majority of growth is in countries where it's a new freedom to be able to practice a "christian" faith. And the WTS is leaving non-attenders on their publisher list until they get in trouble for something.
A message to all Jehovah Witnesses; If you truly believe in the Bible and your dedication to your God, then i challenge you to read your bible without the aid of your Watchtower for 1 year. and apply your life to the scriptures without translation. the only exception to your challenge is that you must not read your present Bible but the very bible that was written when the religion first came about. I would like to see this organization die out, as it is promoting a false gospel. Worldwide, JW's are still experiencing net growth (which I'm sure is to their heavy prosyletizing efforts), though I don't know what the situation is here in the United States. your comment about there being few young people is not solely represented in the JW's. All denominations of christianity are aging off with few youth comparatively remaining.
@xoshorty12 Yes, check the Society's own figures. Compare them with the figures published by other Christian religions. It's actually pretty easy to do online. As with many things the Society says, it's claims don't add up when compared to the facts. The real question is, do you care about the facts? Most JW's just accept the things the Society says or claims without bothering to check if the facts actually support them. If you are interested in the truth you'll check such things for yourself.
@xoshorty12 PS. You also need to factor in how many leave each year, something the Society isn't as keen to tell you upfront. You can do this by taking the total membership numbers for a certain year, adding the total number of newly baptized given for the following year, then comparing this total to the total number of JW's given for that next year. The numbers will be different and this difference is those who have left the JW's. They may be "flooding in", but they are also "flooding out".

Ex-witness here. I've been disfellowshipped almost 10 years now. It bothers me each and everyday and is a big division within my family. My 2 children are being raised not knowng how to socailize as a family. I love all witnesses, however this disfollowshipping doctorine definitely does break families up. The religion and its beliefs may stay intacted but family relationships often fall apart. I wish someone would do a formal investigation and fight this awful doctorine, we're losing families.

I used to be a JW. I left after 2 years as I decided it was not a God I knew. My God was love and peace, and I could not not relate to a God of 'excessive discipline'. This talk of wrath etc was confusing to me. However 10 years later, I get it. I committed sinful behaviour that could now by life threatening. I completely understand the need for 'house rules'. @plenty2say That's true of the original Hebrew text. 'Jehovah' is an Anglicization of 'Yahweh', like 'Jesus' is of 'Yehoshua'. 'Jehovah' has traditionally been used in English translations of the Bible.
The original pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton was actually lost pretty early, many just consider 'Yahweh' to be a good estimate

@2edgedsw0rd nice try...it might work with someone who has no connections to the JWs. I, however, do. Assemblies look smaller because you have them in more places? So, instead of having full assemblies, you now have 3 assemblies that are one third full? Seems to me that if the influx of JWs is sooooo great, all 3 assemblies would be full, right? Your math makes no sense, thus making your arguement even weaker than before. All the evisence-like you have said-prove it-prove me wrong-NUMBERS!

@2edgedsw0rd It used to be if you quit coming to the meetings and going out in the field service, you were called inactive. That is a number rarely talked about now. Also, please explain half empty auditoriums at assemblies. Watch any news clip from an assembly and there are a lot of empty seats. I remember stadium sized assemblies where you couldn't even find a seat. Are people leaving the WTS or just not going to the assemblies? I understand your defensive stance, but it simply isn't true.

@2edgedsw0rd not true, 2edged. I know, in my area, at least 6 kingdom halls have pooled together to make 3 kingdom halls...not new kingdom halls, mind you but the same kingdom halls. Does it make sense that, if the JWs are growing that they are able to combine kingdom halls? Also, the vast majority of growth is in countries where it's a new freedom to be able to practice a "christian" faith. And the WTS is leaving non-attenders on their publisher list until they get in trouble for something.

This is just other regurgitation of all the false information used by all the hate groups. This is no different than the KKK or any other hate group.
It is the interesting ironies of living in America: we have freedom of religion but we also have the freedom of free speech. Misinformation can be presented by anyone.
This kind of foolish presentation strengthens my faith because if these lies are the best that they can do, I know there is nothing of merit they can find to present.

When the government turns on false religion and if the Jehovah Witnesses are considered false religion, then where do the witnesses turn to. Does that mean they took part in false religion or do they say well we have the truth, and Jehovah's people will be persecuted for their belief. I would like to see this organization die out, as it is promoting a false gospel. Worldwide, JW's are still experiencing net growth (which I'm sure is to their heavy prosyletizing efforts), though I don't know what the situation is here in the United States. If this video is correct, they may be gradually dying out here in the US, while growing in other countries.

@xoshorty12 Yes, check the Society's own figures. Compare them with the figures published by other Christian religions. It's actually pretty easy to do online. As with many things the Society says, it's claims don't add up when compared to the facts. The real question is, do you care about the facts? Most JW's just accept the things the Society says or claims without bothering to check if the facts actually support them. If you are interested in the truth you'll check such things for yourself.

@xoshorty12 PS. You also need to factor in how many leave each year, something the Society isn't as keen to tell you upfront. You can do this by taking the total membership numbers for a certain year, adding the total number of newly baptized given for the following year, then comparing this total to the total number of JW's given for that next year. The numbers will be different and this difference is those who have left the JW's. They may be "flooding in", but they are also "flooding out".

@xoshorty12 PPS. The reason they are flooding out is the internet. People have easy access to the facts about the organization that they try to hide and have means to expose their lies - usually by comparing what they say now with what they said formerly, in older publications. For instance, do you know what the Society preached about 1914 BEFORE 1914? It's not what they tell you today. The truth is the Society's worst enemy and the internet gives easy, private, access to the facts for all.

Fireballs?? All of these "manmade" organizations will be disbanded after the coming of the Kingdom of God. We can't judge the people within them. Everyone is on their own path. Everyone is on their own level of spiritual understanding. No you do not have to be a member of any organization to be accepted by God. The true organization or "church" of Christ Jesus is made up of living people, not Earthly organizations.
