I ALWAYS loved this Craig. Hunt Blocks version was good, but he really didn't show Scott Bryce's combo of ambition and flat out vulnerability. He could be calculating and sarcastic, but he LOVED his family and LOVED Lily and Lucinda. Can you imagine the chemistry he would have had with Maura West's Carly? Searing. They ruined his character and I never really forgave ATWT for that...
@dolemitedavis I don't know if the Hunt Block fans are familiar with restraint. His Craig was a wisecracking alcoholic involved in one scheme after another, as if the character never grew up after torturing Betsy. We're in agreement, and not giving Scott Bryce a chance to explore the history with Carly was criminal.
@Oakdalian I sooo agree. I think about the awesome chemistry Bryce would have had with Cady McLain's Rosanna...How tortuous his marriage to Zenks Barbara Ryan would have been..and how we would have ached with him and Mary Beth Evans Sierra over Bryants death.Oh the lost opportunities.....*sigh*
I'm glad she took the Mr. T jewelery off before things really got down to business.
So Lily saw Dusty and Meg kiss. Lucinda saw Craig and Sierra kiss. Lily saw Lucinda and Craig...um...kissing. All that was left to make this even better was if Sierra had seen Barbara and Tonio making out or something.
The thing with Craig Montgomery is that he never goes too far....Bryant was a very unlikable character that hated his father from the onset. And Lucy came on the show under the illusion of liking him but was basically his enemy too. They always twist the things he does for Carly and Rosanna around too so they can come off more like victims...but the Craig character has carried the show mostly since 2000.
Yeah I was surprised that..I'm glad it didn't happen with Hunt Block's version. But I liked that little run of both of them like having all of those converations without her judging him too much like Carly and Rosanna would do and his daughter, Lucy, was always irritating to me because they ALWAYS made her at odds with him...she was more like an enemy than a daughter
@Mickieshelton All of Marland's work at making Craig sensitive and loving went out the window when the character returned desperate for Barbara & Bryant's money. He's even swiped Parker's money. The only child of his who hasn't hated him at some point is Johnny, but only because he's too young to be hurt by him, probably. Jon Lindstrom did a good job of making him less of a scum bag, which Scott Bryce's last bout with bad writing didn't allow for.
@Oakdalian I LOVED craig back then. I never understood why they had to make him come back and be such a nasty character all of a sudden. I also loved his relationship with margo.
Oh that's why they've never tried ANYTHING with Craig and Lily in the 2000s....I thought once they might have tried to do something with them when Hunt Block was Craig because Lily never went against him once during his entire run on the show. Even with the botched Lucy kidnapping deal, she still never saw any corrupt dealings by Craig. It was beautiful.
I knew something had happened between Lucinda and Craig but had never seen the episode. Whoa! And remember Lucinda's lawyer Ambrose and butler Matthew? They were regulars back then. I wonder what Scott Bryce and Elizabeth Hubbard thought about doing this scene -- was it awkward or funny?
You go, Lucinda!

@Mickieshelton When he took advantage of Lily's addiction to steal Worldwide, that was the most we'd ever seen her upset with him.

Was Craig and Lily close during this timeframe? She was looking for him for some reason......and it seemed she trusted him even back then.

@Mickieshelton He was like her big brother and pseudo father figure. She loved him to death.
