  • Chris Dudley is spot on.

Why should a waiter or waitress make several times the income of a McDonalds employee, by giving them minimum wage AND tips?

Lots of them make more money than white collar employees at that rate.

  • Dudley's idea was not to lower the minimum wage for everyone but to have a training wage for teenage kids working in fast food restaurants and such. Many employers (including my own) start their new hires at a reduced wage until they are fully trained. There are also many jobs that have interns who work for nothing until they are trained. We won't find out if Dudley's plan would work or not because Kitzhaber won. The few of us that are still working will all be working for minimum wage now.

  • That's one reason I hate republicans. For some reason, they want to they hate the few dollars the poorest of the poor are making. You have to be a serious prick to want to pick on people who are barely scraping by.

  • Here is what was really said....of course you need to type in youtube.com on before this.... /watch?v=yEaSO-gIywI Democrats or Republicans....both sides of the same coin.

  • Laughable to say the least. Do you know why they didn't play the question he was asked or what he said the minute before this quote? It was taken out of context...now that said, do not vote for the D's or the R's....they are both sides of the same coin!

  • @broncobilly25

I am more happy about Democrats losing than I am about Republicans winning.

I am very happy Shit Slobber lost...

  • how about you find the entire quote people... I am saddened that I live in a place full of such stupid people that a POLITICAL (aka false, lying) ad that cut out the beginging of the quote is making people bash him, I havent done my research on dudley, but I sure feel strongly about kitzhaber endorsing a false proven ad to gain morons votes whom cannot discover the truth for themselves. I commend those whom dont vote on portions of quotes taken out of context!

  • A minumum wage is immoral in the first place. It shouldnt even exist. The government has no right telling us how much we need to pay eachother. All the power the gov has it recieves nfrom us. No one else & we do not have the right to tell eachother how much anyone should pay someone for a service. Most people cant think of a world without min wage but it can exist & is the moral route.

  • @savedslave

Let the state employees go on minimum wage and the Oregon Health Plan... They are what caused this mess...

  • They blocked us from posting the actual video!!! Look up KGW Dudley.

  • This is taken out of context... He is saying they get tips, and raising minimum wage hurts businesses, and causes more jobs to be cut.

What people don't seem to understand is $0.50 an hour for each individual is a small and somewhat insignificant, however, to a company, it can be a large sum of money.

Kitzhaber, you had your chance! You are NOT getting my vote!

  • Lowering the minimum wage would be the best thing to do in this state! Prices would go down, and businesses would afford to pay more to the waitresses who do their job better, instead of paying the new kid who got the job, who is only in 11th grade, the same wage.

  • Shit Slobber had his shot...

  • This is bullshit editing. He said specifically in the actual video that he doesnt want to lower minimum wage.

  • unfuckingbelievable.....

  • @isawanangel2 your buddy Doug Bickford just subbed me...too funny!

    :D

  • @onestupidman he's not my buddy & this is just crazy

  • Portland by far has the worst service I've ever experienced in the entire nation, and I've just about been everywhere. There's quite a few places here in the US where you get paid a "servers wage", which is typically $2.50 an hour (plus tips). At that pay, you are expected to give great service so that you get paid, but in places like Portland you can offer shitty service and still get paid well, since you don't have to rely on tips alone.

  • I can just imagine the conversations with these people. "What do you think about freely negotiating a wage for work?" "I agree with that." "What if my wage offer is below what you will freely accept?" "Then I wouldn't take the job." "What if my wage offer is above what you'll accept, but below the minimum wage?" "You shouldn't be allowed to do that." "Please see question 1."

  • when I was a server I pocketed $100 per 6hour shift on average, plus my hourly wage. So when you look at it 2 dollars an hour I am still pulling in 112 dollars for 6 hours of work that's not to shabby.

  • @nicholaswells Thank you for giving us a real life example, Nicholas. $112/6 hours = $18.67 per hour. I encourage anyone who wants to heartily disagree with Dudley on this issue, but I am sick of hearing that waiter/esses make minimum wage; they do NOT. I recall my days in high school when the girls held the waitress jobs at our national chain pizza restaurant. I made $3.50/hour; they made $9/hour ($2 from the employer.) They did NOT received minimum wage--I did.

  • Wow, a whole string of small minded leftist jackasses. The same old lines. Bash success, and the name calling, excellent. If you spend more than 2 months making minimum wage in your WHOLE life, than you aren't too bright. This whole issue is so lame. And don't tell me that you think wait staff doesn't make around $20/hour or even more. Who exactly is this going to hurt???

  • @klickitat7332 you obviously never worked as a waiter.

  • @bearcat8543 You are right. I've aspired to be a bit more than that. But I know plenty that have and they grossed well over $20/hour and that was 15 years ago. If you can't make $12/hour as a waiter, you should go buy some rope and...

  • @klickitat7332 "$20/hour or even more"? You're such a fucking dumbass

  • @llar87 If you can't make $11.00 an hour as a waiter/waitress then go dig yourself a hole you POS. Fucking Dumbass?? Go look in the mirror you little fuckwad

  • @klickitat7332 : your guy lost, and you need to accept the fact that he lost because he was a dipshit loser and a flop, flunkee, fucktard failure like you,

it's over.......either kill yourself or get over it you sniveling little vagina

  • Dude made MILLIONS playing a child's game (aka. the NBA) and couldn't even make his Free Throws.

For those who don't know, a free throw is an uncontested shot from 13 feet away.

What a joke of a human being.

  • @AkioAkemi Search on Youtube for "kgw dudley" and you'll see that this video is completely out of context.

  • lol, reminds me of Steve Buscemi in the opening scene of Reservoir Dogs

  • Damn .... for once a Quiz I can ace:

    FUCK THE TEAPUBLICAN ASSHOLE!

    Yippee! I get an "A+"

  • @SoINeedAName48 You also aced the gullibility quiz. This video is completely out of context. Search for "kgw dudley" and see the full video where that is NOT the point Dudley was making.

  • Chris Dudley is a greedy, elitist Yale asshole. Even when Dudley was living in Portland and making millions playing professional basketball in Portland, he kept an address in Washington state just to avoid paying Oregon taxes.

Vote for John Kitzhaber for Oregon Governor!

  • And meanwhile the Chris Dudley's in the US get richer and richer everyday (and want to keep their tax cuts at the expense of the nation) while the gulf between the rich and the not rich is larger than at any time since 1967 when the government began monitoring such things.

  • Wow, what a pompous elitist shit head... the GOP the party of the RICH, HOMOPHOBES, RACISTS and MEAN PEOPLE!!

  • At a time when the banksters who lost trillions of dollars and drove the world economy into the ground are getting multi-million dollar bonuses this guy thinks the first priority should be to go after waitresses?

    Insane...

  • So sayeth the millionaire basketball player who lived in Washington to escape Oregon taxes.

  • watch?v=yEaSO-gIywI

    tsk tsk

  • NIce try but KGW already exposed this as a big fat lie. Feel good about yourself? Lie and distort just to try to win? End justifies the means? Is that it? Huh! Seems like that's the EXACT same complaint you had against Bush. Disgusting! This is why people are leaving the Democrats in droves--you've lost all morals, it's just about staying in power. You sicken me.

  • Minimum wage in the NBA is about $6,000 an hour. And he thinks restaurant workers are over paid? I hope his next waitress does a little extra with his food.

  • Chris Dudley is an IDIOT.

  • i don't think we should cut the min of wage for a training wage, but remove both and create a living wage that all have to atleast pay.

  • Unbelievable. Dudley sure isn't asking *everyone* to take a pay cut, just the poorest, most marginalized citizens of our state. How this makes sense...only someone who made a living playing a child's game could come up with something so ridiculous and damaging to the economic health of Oregon.

  • oregon girls are hot.

  • @spearNmagicHelmet I was going to comment this on reddit, but I feel like it would go unappreciated there. The mixed black chick 40 seconds in is incredibly attractive.

  • Our minimum wage is tied to cost of living. minimum wage should allow someone to come close to their cost of living. Dudley is a dud. Lowering minimum wage is an attack on those who can afford it the least and can only protect predatory employers.

  • @sinbot777 so you're saying it should have gone down with the cost of living too? Guess what, it didn't.

  • @pierce59 No. Unless of course you are suggesting other wages should be dropped in response to that as well. COL stagnation, not reduction, wouldn't signal dropping min. wage for most sane people. In any case it's going up again this year. Imagine that.

  • Given Dudley's lack of governing experience, can we pay him less than minimum wage if he's successful in buying this election?

  • Comment removed

  • @EastBankThorn: I agree. Let Dudley start out on training wages until he's fully up to speed on the job - which I suspect will take longer than 30-90 days - and offset the financial loss that all Oregonians will suffer if we were to pay him the full, princely governor's salary while he's learning the job. Payroll is a reality of the cost of doing business. If an employer can't make payroll then they shouldn't be doing business.

  • Given Dudley's lack of governing experience, can we pay him less than minimum wage if he's successful in buying this election?

  • Given Dudley's lack of governing experience, can we pay him less than minimum wage if he's successful in buying this election?

  • @EastBankThom If he works for tips

  • Good job Chris. I'm with you!!!

  • You'd think they would have interviewed some people who have a clue, these people are morons. It's a training wage that he's talking about, read before you speak. It's a good idea, you think every idiot out there is worth $8.40?? They're not, at least with a training wage you could offset losses that you incur when you hire someone. It takes me 30 to 90 days to get someone up to speed and I lose money the entire time.

  • I haven't made minimum wage for years. But for those who have to live on

it, you realize that even though we have the nation's highest minimum

wage, it is still a far cry from being comfortable. Not to mention that

few, if any, minimum wage jobs come with health insurance. @ Pico - This matter was settled by Oregon voters a number of years ago. How about option D - Take a pay cut, you greedy fu*k? And withdron - If you think the minimum wage is so high, why don't you try living on it?

  • BTW, servers are taxed on their tips too. Jackasses.

  • Comment removed

  • Every time you raise minimum wage you raise the cost of living. Hasn't anybody made the connection? If I run a business that has employees - their wages are part of the cost of doing business. If minimum wage goes up I have a choice to make. A. Lay employees. Not always a pleasant solution for the employees or the company. B. Raise my prices. Not pleasant idea for customers. C. Or do both - laying off and raising prices. Nobody likes this idea.

  • IMHO Oregon's minimum wage is too high and it falsely inflates wages for others jobs beyond what a small business owner can afford. Makes it tougher for new small businesses to hire those first employees who are needing to be trained to even do the job in the first place. Don't cut it - but for goodness sake don't raise it ANY higher.
