  • The repeated line "crazy, sturdy, a torpedo" reminds me of Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk.

  • yoko ono - "mindtrain"

  • they dope...hard...and soft (pause)

  • this was at numbers in Houston, right? i remember that night because i developed a huge crush on the keyboardist. .

  • It's Hawkwind, but for girls.

  • CAN forever!!

  • LoL people talking about Stereolab's inspirations like it could be any one source. They have a lot of krautrock influences, of course: Neu and Kraftwerk as well as others. There's also some Beach Boys, Esquivel, Jobim, all of whom they throw a nod to on Aluminum Tunes, and others I can't think of off the top of my head.

They take all these things and make it their own, adding their own genius. This is a band that is both underrated and hugely influential in their own right.

  • Superband mit superstück. Unbeingt live sehen!!!

  • Loyda... this does sound a lot like Can. Who were excellent. Just liike these kids.

  • Oh~! It's genius.

  • I saw them on this tour in Nova Scotia,Canada.

    Changed my life

  • neu! is the biggest inspiratiom, just listen to hallogallo.. oh and a bunch of velvet underground aswell.

  • from wikipedia: On 2nd April 2009 Stereolab manager Martin Pike posted a message on the band's website, announcing that after 19 years the band would go into hiatus as "there are no plans to record new tracks". =(

  • this sounds great! anyone thinks it sounds a bit like Can? haha Can is great too

  • yes. i believe Can is one of their biggest inspirations. just listen to their track Yoo Do Right if you don't believe me.

  • I'm glad to hear you say this.

  • @agentoranges did you hear anything except Can?

  • Awesome video. I saw them in 96 playing almost 3 (!) hours.

  • i loved all their concerts..saw almost all in the 90s in texas..i miss those days

  • @stereolab28 If you went to any of their shows in Dallas and Ft. Worth, I was there with you. Their best show was the one they did at Trees with High Llamas. The jam they did together at the end went on for another hour and a half. It was magnificent!

  • @JonnyTruant Yep. I was there also. we got to talk to them outside before the concert for awhile and high llamas was great.

  • Hamburg - Docks- with Sonic Youth

  • I'm assuming you all know this already, but this is the greatest freaking song ever recorded.

  • agreed x 10000000
