LoL people talking about Stereolab's inspirations like it could be any one source. They have a lot of krautrock influences, of course: Neu and Kraftwerk as well as others. There's also some Beach Boys, Esquivel, Jobim, all of whom they throw a nod to on Aluminum Tunes, and others I can't think of off the top of my head.
They take all these things and make it their own, adding their own genius. This is a band that is both underrated and hugely influential in their own right.
Superband mit superstück. Unbeingt live sehen!!!
from wikipedia: On 2nd April 2009 Stereolab manager Martin Pike posted a message on the band's website, announcing that after 19 years the band would go into hiatus as "there are no plans to record new tracks". =(
@stereolab28 If you went to any of their shows in Dallas and Ft. Worth, I was there with you. Their best show was the one they did at Trees with High Llamas. The jam they did together at the end went on for another hour and a half. It was magnificent!
The repeated line "crazy, sturdy, a torpedo" reminds me of Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk.

Yeah this is about as Can as Stereolab got. Almost wish more bands would try to copy Can though, rather than Television. great song!
