what do you feed the algie? - what nutrients will need to be made- shipped in? I like the idea- (what do you mean by all the energy demands- including producing electricity? 1/10 of new mexico is a good chunk- you do wonder also how long the plastic bags will last. Plus you would have some nice jobs in some rural areas
A nice little wedge of the energy pie -the fact you are not loosing water to evaporation is really cool also. you could turn this into a foodsource also. a soy replacement
I bet they could sell these in a smaller "kit" for residential use. A set-up similar to the one shown could probably power a few houses indefinitely. The robber barron (oil and power companies) must be sh1tting their pants right now!
If you used a sugar catalyst could you increase the production of algae oil, faster?
How many acreas is 1/10 of the land mass of New Mexico? I think decentralized system of algae production would be a better solution. A system that produces algae 24 hours a day and independant of location wouldl be more likely to become popular.
Love IT!!! California needs to invest more in Green Tech!!! Prop 23 is down in the polls, but the Yes on 23 campaign just got a new influx of hot, anonymous cash, so we'll need to fend them off in the home stretch to Election Day.
Hit me back if you'd like to talk Prop 23. We're coming out with a bunch of great No on Prop 23 videos soon!
When they start selling solar panels for $200 a pop at home depot, then everyone will catch on.
Everyone scoffed at Apple for being ridiculous and expensive in the late 90's. People who like apple were nerds and dorks. Same thing with this eco-green energy stuff. It always starts out as being nerdy, uncool and expensive.
@ceetable Yeah, that is referred to as carbon neutral, and is the latest buzz word. Granted algae biodiesel won't take C02 out of the air, but it won't increase it either. Until the liberals deliver on their promise of cars that run on clean burning unicorn excrement, we have to start somewhere, and algae biodiesel is the most viable option around.
amazing .. thanks for sharing .. god bless
