  • Thanks, Cheery Davie! Such a lovely voice & beautiful song! That I haven't heard of this lovely singer or beautiful song before greatly shames me! I've always said I'll be a returning Highlander when I come to Scotland & everyone else is just dumb Americans in a Hawiian flowerdy shirts! LOL.! If the shirt fits. . . Thanks for reminding me that no matter how much you learn you'll never know it all & thanks for being my Guru of Scottish Music!!!

  • @OutlawMinniePearl thanks for your very kind comment that I'll pass on to Liz

  • @Fluffysecuritybeaver Thanks so much! Her rich resonant voice is amazing, even the highest notes never approach shrillness! I would love to hear her do The Water is Wide & The Wagoner's Lad. I will definitely be back for more!

  • @OutlawMinniePearl

We are definitely discussing recording another song and I like the ones you have suggested. All I can say for now is "watch this space" !Hopefully we will try to entertain you again very soon. Thank you so much for your encouraging and inspirational comments.

    Liz x

Your generous words uplifted me so much. Please do not feel ashamed that you have not heard of me. There is no reason why you should have as I am just an ordinary lady who is proud of her Scottish roots and LOVES to sing! The song IS beautiful. My mum used to sing it to me and my brothers and sisters and so has a special place in my heart. You can however now make it better known by asking people to listen to it just like "Cheery Davie" did. Thanks for your kindness Liz x

  • @marzella2 Thanks so much, Sweet LIz! I have been looking for more of you on YouTube but can't find it. I hope I can find you on CD! Also, I was thinking what a beautiful job you would do on 'The trees they do grow high & the leaves they do grown green.' Just in case you're fixing to record, LOL. I would love to hear any of your songs & performances in any form!

  • @OutlawMinniePearl

The only other place you will find me on Youtube is where I sung "Silent Night" with the Susan Boyle Virtual Choir. It is under" SuBoVirtual Choir". There are photos of the choir members most of whom hail from the good old USA! I am listed as Elizabeth McNally. Considering none of us ever met and it was all done by computer I think it sounds quite good.

But OH ! to make a CD.....that is my dream. But it costs money to do it and I am not convinced many people would buy it! x

  • Absolutely beautfuil...........thanks for your version.....ans the pictures a great too

  • @cheerydavie

Thank you for your kind words. Any suggestions for a follow up song? I was thinking of "She moves through the fair" but Iam also a Burns fan and would like to do "My Love is Like a red red rose" or "Ae fond Kiss"?

  • @cheerydavie thanks Davie... great to have such positive feedback

  • Fantastic !! Sang straight from the heart. Definately the best version I have heard. I love playing it on the pipes for the grand children. Great video as well. Thanks for posting.

  • cont.. girl, Ros', rejected by her mother, Ros' became a concert pianist, long severed from Andrew for various strained reasons. Ros's dream was to play a duet with Helen McFarlane, Ros's agent contrived to fulfill this dream, but the Lady Helen, and her husbnd had adopted Andrew as a child, Ros' had this chilling situation to face. She ran into the hills for solace where she heard Andrew's deceased mother's plaintive voice singing Dream Angus, Andrew had indeed brought her a dream; perfect...

  • Hello Liz, I was named after a lady called Janet Milne Campbell, her mother was Janet Burns, 2 famous writers names. For many years I belonged to an Opera Group, but I no longer sing, it's more a croak these days. I have now retired and have turned my talents into the ingredients for novels. 3 yrs ago I needed Scottish songs in my head, but I needed a male voice, Kenneth MacKellar was perfect for my hero Andrew's haunting rendition of Dream Angus, orphaned at 6, he sang this to a new born baby

  • @BluesIndigo

What a fascinating story! You are so right . Kenneth MacKellar had a lovely voice. i remember my mum being a huge fan and listening to him at Hogmanay on TV. Let me know some of your books. I would be imterested to read them. Best Wishes,

    Liz

  • Lovely song and lovely singing! Well done!

  • @almachoir Thanks - this is Liz at her best I reckon

  • @almachoir

Thank you very much for your kind comments. This is a favourite "party piece" of mine as I feel it is important to keep these lovely folk songs passing through the generations! Can you tell me something about your choir? it seems that you were recently on my native soil in Scotland? Were you on tour? I have recently sung "Silent Night" with the Susan Boyle Virtual Choir. You can view it on Youtube under SuBoVirtual choir. let me know what you think. Best wishes and God Bless

  • This is lovely, exactly how it should be sung

  • @BluesIndigo Thanks for your comments - I think Liz does a great vocal on this. Pass it on!

  • @BluesIndigo

Thank you for your lovely remarks. So pleased you liked it. Can you tell me who you are? Are you a singer also?

It is great to have some positive feedback as we recorded this some months ago! I have also recently sung "silent night" with the Susan boyle Virtual choir. You can hear this on Youtube under SuBovirtual choir. hope you like this as well. Please let me know who you are and if you have some music I could listen to as well

    God bless.

  • My mother used to sing this to me when I was a baby- Thank you for this wonderful song- just as it should be sung. Bless you.

  • @maxi4510

Thank you for your kind words. I was beginning to think noone had liked my version of this lovely song. My mum always sang it to me and my brothers and sisters too and I went on to sing it to my children. This is how folk music passes through the generations. I wish you well.

  • @marzella2 Hello from Alma College in Michigan. I found your beautiful recording while looking for a song to arrange for my women's glee club at Alma College. We are a Presbyterian college in the Great Lakes region of the U.S. and have long enjoyed our ties to Scotland. Our oldest group, the Alma Choir, has made four trips to Scotland, and we plan to return every fourth year. I am always looking for Scottish songs for my students, and would be glad for your help. Sincerely, Will Nichols

  • @almachoir

Hello Alma College! Although I am ScottIsh, I live in Southern England in West Sussex. I see you try to visit Scotland every four years. When are you due to visit again? Perhaps we could sing together the next time you visit as my family still live in Scotland. Or maybe if I was ever fortunate to visit Michigan I could come and sing a collection of Scottish songs to your students and teach them a few? Meanwhile I will look out some traditional ones for you that might suit . XX
