I'll be honest, i'm not really a fan of the BN series because of how far it strays from the original formula, but it's still pretty fun :/

What i did is i had 4 "pawn" chips in my folder, (each have 90 attack i believe and cant be broken by the claws) I put 1 of those directly infront of alpha and press A and keep attacking until either vanishes or destroyed by laser, or use the first stage of meteor, the likely hood of it hitting alpha is HUGE it auto targets to him 9/10 times for me, other than that i heard that wind soul's power charge is useful too...

Step-z has to be a legit broken PA. I used that with the PA of Spreader and owned everything in the game.

To fight Alpha, it would be very easy if you used a Plasma or Sensor chip, together with an icestage. XD

I slaughtered this dude with my Z cannon2 program advance. I used it when he started his machine guns and took over 1000 Hp off of him :D, then I hit him with a life sword and finished him off with 2 ratton2's. I would have never been able to do this without air shoes XP

I usually figure to not go for a speed through with Alpha since you don't get a reward(other than beating the game)so I just use metal stage and then take my time with whatever deck I feel like. But I must admit, charge shot(along the lines of wind or fire)plus Totems and StepSwords is a really good strategy against him. You probably could've dominated him quicker had you had a Metal Stage in there because it looked like the broken panels slowed you down a little.

I've always found agile bosses to be more challenging than staionary ones. Like Beast Man (Well, the 2nd boss) took about 7-10 tries, Alpha being about 4. I was to stubborn to make a better deck to fight him.

If you had a Life Aura and all possible Anti-Damage (Chip limit), and of course Bodyguard PA, normal Alpha is the easiest enemy in the game.

I even had more trouble with Beastman than with him..

I've always found Duo to be easier... since he has no shields, and his laser thingy is easier to dodge.

Program advances are the best way to beat alpha. Get antidmg M antinavi M and marumasa M and it does about 1500 damage on him

Easily the most difficult final boss of the series (SP Navis aside, of course.) Life Virus, Gospel, Duo, and whoever the last two were didn't even come close to the frustration this guy caused. I beat it after HOURS of retrying. It was fucking glorious.

not as cheap as the stepcross PA =P, also.. here's are two of my favorite utterly cheap combinations and the tactics for it!

Areagrab x2 + Elemswrd + atk +30 (set the stage to gras. areagrab all the way to the opponent's back line, then lock it with a rook. follow up by changing your own stage to snctry, then use lifeaura =P. finally, use elemswrd+30, and because of the prism each hit's damage is doubled. also because of the grass stage, the fireswrd is also doubled! use it on gras based foes)

Z-Step is a nice strategy, but Z-Yoyo is much better

Z-Yoyo 3 has 60dmg per hit. hitting from the same place as Z-Step it hits 3 times, and it releases A LOT quicker than Z-Step (I've killed him once with ONLY Z-Yoyo 2 + Buster)
