  • very nice video......im thinking bout buying 1 myself and i heard as long as u buy HV ammo itl shoot whats ur oppinion on that? i was planning on buying the Sidewinder HV ammo, what do u like the best?

  • @brycetennison420 I have a first gen Colt OPS. Then the ammo it chose to eat was of the "Lean" type. Now, I have been told, they shoot most anything. I have NEVER adjusted the the screw as dictated in the manual when using standard to high velocity either. With that being said, I have consistently fed my OPS a steady diet of Federal ammo. On an occasion, I would run either CCI Mini-mags or Aguila Supermax. I'm not familiar with Sidewinder. Sorry to be of little help.

    Dyno

  • well i guess i know what ammo i'm not going to buy for this.

  • Cool shooting range, nice m4!

  • i wonder why your rifle wasnt working with remington cause i have the exact same weapon and all i use is remington and it works fine for me. . . interesting

  • Just got 1 fir my b day hope I like it :p

  • Hey Dyno, please reply will this gun tolerate water haha i mean will it cause catastrophic failure? (this gun = Umarex M4 .22)

  • @keystoweb Yes it will. I wouldn't take it for a salt water swim. But an everyday, well lubed and cared for rifle will withstand a bit of Water torture. Now if you're planning on talking it for an actual swim, make sure the H20 has been drained from the barrel. Otherwise, I see no reason for a CF with this one. :)

    Thanks for watching.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 @mytactical22 @mytactical22 oh right then thanks for the reply another question too, this or the H&K 416 (umarex made) .22 which one would you prefer , i heard the HK can withstand some water and it pass the SOCOM water test not sure what they're called officially i assume you've seen the "over the beach tesst" the HK416 was able to survive haha :) how about the MP5 i've been surfing the web and found nothing about it. Please answer me :')

  • @keystoweb As far as I know. This is "Internally" the same .22. (Umarex) As for the SOCOM test, I haven't seen them myself. After I picked up my S&W M&P 15-22, I now have 4 of them, I haven't looked back. The new HK416 had a new, smaller design for the mags. Much better idea than the Colt OPS mags. I do like the Umarex brand. But, the mechanics aren't my favorite to maintain and clean. The HK416 is suppose to be easier than the Colt OPS. I wish I could be of more help to you.

    Dyno

  • @keystoweb P.S. I am a HUGE Hk fan. Most of my centerfire rifles/carbines are Hk. I love the design of the Hk Umarex Hk416. The Sliding stock, grip and magazine. When Umarex made the Colt OPS, there was a lot of negative feedback. Umarex listened and went to Hk with the idea of making the 416 in .22LR. Keep in mind, you are going to pay a little more for the Hk badge attached to the gun. It sure does look nice though. :) I just may pick one up one of these days. :)

    Take care.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 you didnt answer the question mate :( are they water proof like the over the beach test? "they" in this case is the HK416 Umarex made as well as the MP5A5 Umarex thx in advance bro

  • @keystoweb Sorry about that, Honestly, I couldn't tell you if they are as waterproof as the beach test or not. Personally, I know that my Colt (Uma) will withstand being submerged in water, drained and then fired. As for actually committing to factual evidence on the Colt Umarex being waterproof, I can not make a claim to that fact. :)

Nothing compares to an actual Hk other than an Hk made in the German factory. Umarex makes "air rifles" they converted to making .22LR's. Far cry from an Hk.

  • @mytactical22 Here sir, an Umarex MP5A5 .22 submerged underwater and let it drain for about 2-3 seconds will it still work? no catastrophic failure? No exploding barrels? Same goes for the Umarex H&K 416 .22 . (I know that it works if they are made in Germany , i mean H&K official, well will Umarex's work as well?) thank you :D well you might've ask me why im buying .22 insteaed of 5.56 rifles that's because the firearms law here is pretty strict ><

  • @keystoweb In my 35+ years of firearms, I haven't come across any firearms that would fail to work after being submerged in water. About 99% of them HAVE TO BE DRAINED for about 2-3 seconds. :) So long as the Barrel is free of obstructions, including water, it will fire. Now if your trigger/bolt assembly happens to be filled with mud, sand, or a combination of both, your firearm may not work. I'm curious, why the questions about having a .22 perform after being submerged in water?

    Dyno

  • @keystoweb Also... These are made by, I believe "Walther" out of Germany. A pretty solid firearms maker. As for taking a .22LR over a .223/5.56, I have a few .223/5.56 carbines here. I never shoot them. I 'always' shoot the .22's. It's just as fun and much easier to buy 500 rounds of .22LR ammo than 500 rounds of centerfire rounds. Why? Because of the cost. .22LR is far less expensive and it offers plenty of "trigger time" without breaking my bank account. :)

    Thanks again,

    Dyno

  • nice gun

  • The dust prevent on my M-16 A1 and A2 felt that way back when I was in the army, the dust prevent cover is probably accurate to the design. Definately want one of these, good review.

  • just got that cci miny mag 40gr works the best

  • thats that remington ammo for you, shit is junk!

  • Were did you get .22 / ar-15

  • Hey Dyno, I took your advise and went with the S&W and I love it. Put a truglo red dot on it and it's a tack driver. I slayed a few striped gophers with the 15-22 down south in Minnesota and they hate me now. I just wanted to say thanks for leading me in the right direction instead of the colt. BTW hows the reliability and accuracy on that GSG-5? Looks fun to shoot!

  • @KnighTnGunZ You're welcome. I'm glad I was able to help. Rodent Assassins Unite!!! Before I picked up my M&P 15-22's, the GSG-5 was my favorite plinker outside of my 10/22. Knock on wood, my GSG-5 never had issues and was pretty accurate. I say this in the past tense as I honestly haven't pulled it out if the vault in over a year. Outside of that, again, it is fun to shoot. However, my soul has attached itself to the S&W's.

Welcome to the Brotherhood of Rodent Assassins. (LOL)

    Dyno

  • its not a mud flap, it is a dust prevent plate

  • @jj1544222344 LOL, :) It's called "Sarcasm".

    Thanks for watching.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 haha, no prob bro.

  • I'm thinking about buying this very rifle.

  • how much is the suppressor and permit message me back please im thinking about buying this gun and i want it to be quite so i don't scare off other varmints around the area if i take out one

  • @theoneshotsniper 1st. You're going to have to find an FFL class 3 dealer in your state.

2nd, the Colt Umarex doesn't have the correct barrel threading for the suppressor. You'll have to find an adapter bringing it up to I believe 1/2x28 tpi. ($35-$65)

3rd, Here's where the Class 3 dealer comes in. Around $350 or less for the suppressor, $200 for the Feds plus dealer fees, pass a B.G. check, Get approval from your local Sheriff, Wait 6 mos. And you're in whisper club. :)P

    Good Luck

    Dyno

  • wat is the best ammo to use for this rifle

  • @BloodyBark I am told that the "Newer" models shoot Remington, Winchester, CCI, Federal, etc etc... pretty well.

Mine doesn't fire Remington more than maybe 1-3 shots without a hick up. CCI is too expensive for the amount of shooting that I do, and Winchester doesn't come in the big "Bulk" packs like the Federals do. I've found that Walmart has the best deal on .22lr ammo. The Federal 550 packs are going for 18.97 a box.

    Dyno

  • is it a well worth gun to get?

  • @sweettooth80 I'd say yes. It is a fun rifle to shoot and is a head turner. With that being said, Umarex has come out with what is called the HK 416 D .22LR. It's just about the same price. But the magazines are smaller. Which is far better than the elephant trunk of a mag that comes with the Colt version. The Umarex HK also has a better grip and stock. I've sen them selling for around $516.

Take a look at the S&W M&P 15-22, the rifle is a bit more user friendly and is much easier to maintain.

  • Mine's been misfiring every other round, and it has problems ejecting the casing. I've cleaned it, and the misfirings aren't as frequent, but still enough for me to rethink my decision to purchase it. It has a problem with extracting misfired cartridges. I have to shove a tube down the barrel to take them out.

  • @DeadFishFactory It sounds like you need to get a hold of Umarex. ASAP. Get an RMA number or they may send you a return shipping label and send that back very soon.

Sending it back to them honestly is in my opinion, your best and safest bet. I don't want to even start trying to diagnose the issue and have it lead into something that is going to get you hurt. I'm not a Gunsmith. : )

    Good Luck.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 I figured out the problem. The bolt spring was a bit too tight, so it had a hard time extracting the casings. I loosened it and it extracts a lot better now. I'll have to check to see if this fix the misfiring the next time I go shooting (which isn't often).

Now the real mystery is why the 30-round mag jams my gun more than the 10-round mag.

  • @DeadFishFactory Now that's a good one. Many firearm manufactures often label the magazine that came with the firearm with the last 4 digits of the firearms serial number showing that this mag was intended for this rifle/pistol. Often time, the tolerances are slightly different with each mag so a little home "smithing" may be in order. 1st make sure your mag well and mag locking mechanism are clean and free of debris. Next slowly insert the mag and look for places that are "hanging up".

    con't..

  • @DeadFishFactory Sometimes you are easily able to see where a non factory mag has flaws in the design by way of burs or slightly out of measurement injection molded polymer. If you notice any like this, pick yourself up an emery board. (Disposable finger nail file) and start to slowly, not aggressively removing what areas of the mag you feel are causing the hang ups. It should be a minor adjustment. Compare the mags first and look for any differences. Start slowly and go from there.

    Good luck

  • What are you talking about? You're not one of these "I'm so bored with my personal life, I need to boil someone else's pot to make my life feel complete" are ya? The video has been up for over a year and no one else has made a comment like yours. What's your point?

    Dyno

  • You didnt have a miss fire and no failure to extract. Why would you want to use a screwdriver?Atleast your buddy pulled the trigger and pointed the weapon down range.

  • I just bought one of these. Can't wait to shoot it over the December break. PS: Nice video.

  • @winters1mgsfan Excellent!!! Do yourself a favor, DO NOT SHOOT REMINGTON AMMO out of this. Your sanity will thank you. lol.

    Thanks for watching

    Dyno

  • No offense but i don't think ear muffs are necessary with a 22. i mean i use muffs when my friend shoots his Russian ww 1 gun that thing will send a shock wave of air that u can feel.

  • @shalom1181 Funny, I used to think the same way. I'm 39 and now that I look back, I wish I had worn ear protection. I've lost so much of my hearing due to the, seemingly innocent, "crack" of a .22LR. I now have "Tinnitus" as well as severe hearing loss and man is it aggravating.

    Dyno

  • i find the wax coating on the remington causes jams in semi autos

  • @AlsTube2008 No disagreement from me man. I've been saying that for years! :)

  • @mytactical22 CCI standard velocity FTW. Ive fired close to 4000 rounds now through my Beretta 89 Gold Standard and the only time ive had issues is when i jynx myself and tell my mates in the middle of a mag how great it is lol. i simple release my mag, rack the slide, load the round back in and BAM it fires fine. CCI is half the price of remington and last time i got 10,000 for a steal.

  • @AlsTube2008 If I could afford CCI I'd shoot them more often. :-) Here, they're a bit more expensive. Well, let me clarify, when I'm not on the mend, I shoot at least 10k-15k rounds per year. I choose Federal based of they're the least costly and most reliable for the cost of the ammo. CCI is basically flawless. I love to shoot their product, but in the volumes I shoot, it's just not practical. :-)

I'm jealous of you and your Beretta 89 Gold. *smile* I'll have one someday.

    Thanks!

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 yeah at 10-15k rounds per yeah it would be exxy. my last batch of 10K cost me $660AUD instead of $1000+ ;+) Yeah i love my Beretta, took me years to find one and two popped up at the same time. haven't seen one for sale again since. after the hastle i had getting spare mags i wouldn't buy beretta again on the pricipal that their service is shite and that if i needed parts id be stranded. Atleast with my G34 i can get parts easy and cheap not that id ever need to ;+)

  • @AlsTube2008 Im jealous as i want a HK416D145RS and wont be able to have one ever in this country :+(

  • @AlsTube2008 Well, you could pick it up in "Airsoft". :) I'd like to have a real 416D myself, but simply can't afford one. : ) The .22LR version is basically the same thing as the "Colt Umarex" version but with a different stamp and shorter mags. (ok, and different stock and sites too.)

  • can you bump fire this weapon

  • @asock11 Nope. Not enough recoil from a .22LR. :)

    Dyno

  • i love how almost all 22 have a recoil of a airsoft blow back pistol

  • @fucthatsht Heh.... If it has that much. lol.

    Dyno

  • does this gun kill people?

  • @reiVond Nope, This gun doesn't kill people. Neither does any other gun out there. It's like me saying you're laptop causes you to misspell words or your cup made you choke on the water inside.

Any live toaster in the bathtub, diving into the deep end of the pool with no water, jumping off a 30 story building without a parachute, etc etc.. will/can kill you. See the pattern here, all acts take an asshole to perform. On there own, harmless.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 haha ikr. we should ban gravity because you can jump off a bridge

  • @reiVond ypu must be 11

  • @Kalashnikov4Eva yeh im 11, i was just curious because it seems like such a small round and i got the feeling that it wouldn't be able to kill. it was really late at night so dont judge me.

  • just got one, my first gun!

what ammo do you recommend for the M4?

  • @SFVBKNT w00t!!! Congrats my friend. Not a bad first rifle that's for sure. Mine was an old 1930's Savage Single shot .22. hehe.

These enjoy a fine diet of pretty much anything other than Remington. Federal value packs from Walmart are the easiest on your wallet and they're reliable as well. CCI Mini-Mags are the best in some opinions. But, the cost will get ya if you plan on shooting a lot.

    Have Fun and Be Safe.

    Dyno

  • federal is great for cheap shooty goodness, CCI is nice too, but a bit pricey.

  • Remington ammunition is horrible. It shoots dirty and I have had numerous failures with it. I put six boxes of Federal and never had a single failure.

  • blazer ammo works wonders

  • So this gun does have full auto?

  • @DeweyDaniels Nope. I don't believe it would be able to handle the stress of being FA for too long. :) It'd be cool if it did. But, it does not come in FA.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 Thank you for the speedy reply and props for shooting that fast in SA.

  • @mytactical22 Actually bro i think you are wrong. It does come in full auto. I found one at a store with a 14.5 inch barrel and a full auto configuration. Price was Rs. 135,000 or $1560 US Dollars..

  • Comment removed

  • @gunmaster1119 I'm always happy to be wrong. That's how I learn. What country did you see this in? I've not seen any in the USA nor have heard of any. If Umarex kicks one out in FA, they would definitely have re-engineered the entire bolt carrier and trigger group from the ground up. The current set up wouldn't handle the stress. The material is not rigid enough. IMO. I'll do some research on my end to gain more facts on this subject. :-)

    Dyno

    (Originally replied from old account.)

  • @gunmaster1119 Just did a quick Google Recon on the search for "FA Colt Umarex", "Full Auto Colt Umarex", "Select Fire Colt Umarex", and "Select Fire Umarex .22LR". 0 items found in search.

Why there isn't a Colt Umarex FA. (In my opinion)

1.) The rifle is based off of an airsoft gun frame.

2.) The barrel is a thin walled .22lr sleeve. It won't handle the heat/friction of being FA.

    3. It's just not an easy rifle to maintain.

    4. Poor Design. (But sure looks cool!)

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 thanks for replying so fast :P. I also googled it but found nothing. The next time I visit that shop, i'll take a few pictures or even make a video!

  • @gunmaster1119 When you take the pictures, or video, see if you can capture where it says "Full Auto". There may have been a translation error leading to miscommunication. I just don't think Colt/Umarex manufactured any of these in anything but Semi-Auto. But, as I said, I don't mind being wrong. Sure would be cool to know and see one if there is one on the shelf there. :)

    Dyno

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 i saw this gun here in Lahore, Pakistan

  • @gunmaster1119 Well, you're a long way from here! hehe. Who knows what someone may be trying to sell you there. if it is, and I do say "IF" someone has converted the Colt/Umarex into a Full Auto and is selling it in Pakistan, I WOULD NOT BUY IT! The rifle was not manufactured to be FA. You would most likely encounter a catastrophic failure real soon after firing it. It's just not a good idea.

    Be safe.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 yeah you may just be right! Thanks for the heads up lol! And i'm gonna go to the shop tomorrow so i'll take a few pics and then i'll pm you. Also if I can, i'll go through the manual-and snap some pics obviously..

    -Shahzeb

  • @gunmaster1119 jeez here in Iraq you could buy that for 5 US dollars.

  • @bman101298 buy what?

  • @gunmaster1119 that gun or any gun for that matter

  • @bman101298 yeah but five dollars is like a weeks pay for you

  • did this weapon have semi auto you said??? is it diff from california? if you or any one knows please let me know thank you and great video

  • @mattersalma Not quite sure I understood your question... But I'll give it a try.

This is a Semi-Auto firearm. Semi-Auto firearms are legal in California. California has limitations on Magazine Capacity and threaded Flash Suppressors. You can't have a magazine that holds over 10 rds and you are not allowed to have a threaded flash suppressor. They have to be permanently attached. I am not entirely sure on this due to me not living in California. Check your local laws to be sure.

    Dyno

  • No autos like remmington.

  • Do not use remminton or wenchester use CCI or any high velocity bullets

  • @Drokua89 For as much as I shoot, I can't afford to shoot anything other than the Federal 550 Value pack from Walmart. I have CCI Mini-Mags, A few boxes of CCI Stingers that I break out for small game and Wood Chucks at a distance. I also use, though I am running seriously low, Aguila High Velocity or Hyper Max rounds. I have used Winchester ammo with great success. I just get more "Bang for the buck" with the Federal 550 packs.

    Thanks for watching.

    Dyno

  • can you hit small game from a distanse of 30 or more yards

  • @PbyrdCCS1 Yep, and even at greater distances. The video was shot at about 30 yards. You can see the grouping on the plate. With a simple 4x32 scope, it's deadly for tree rats (Squirrels) out to 75+ yards. Do to it having a "Thin Walled" barrel, it starts to affect it's reliability for the 75+ yard shots. But all in all, it is accurate.

    Dyno

  • Does it shoot well ffrom a distance, enough to shoot small game.

  • @PbyrdCCS1 Most small game, at least what I encounter here in Michigan, Rabbits, are usually within 20 yards. (Most around 1-10 when pushing them in the bush.) Squirrels, they're pretty weary critters out here in the country, I'd say between 25 and 55 yards are average shots. All possible with this one. I don't use it for small game due to it's weight and the size of the mags are ridiculous. Umarex does have smaller cap. mags that are now available.

    Dyno

  • I love my colt m4 ops .22lr. It hates remington and blazer ammo. It works ok with cci minimags but their not my favorite. It will fire 1000 rounds without error with winchester and federal bulk :)))

  • I don't think the magazine was full seated at first. That could cause the problems you was having with the Rem bullets at first. Best, yl

  • @ylism Nope, the Rem Ammo just doesn't fire in my rifle. It may fire 2 or 3, maybe even upwards to 10 rounds. Then it fails. Newer models of the same rifle may fire them now. But after speaking to Umarex regarding this issue, long before it was widely known, we all came up with the plan to just use other brands of ammo. The rifle is flawless with CCI, Federal, Aguila, and Winchester. :)

    Thanks for watching!

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 That is really strange. Out of spec Rem ammo ?

  • @colbertnation1776 We're talking about "Zombies" here my friend. A non "Human" soul sucking, life draining, over demanding and forceful changing non "Human". Funny, kinda sounds like most Democrats doesn't it?! hehe. Just kidding. I know a lot of democrats, nice people, just oblivious to the "Real" world around them. (Hmmm, Just like "zombies") Zombies being already dead, a .22 LR is just gonna poke holes in 'em and tick 'em off. Ya gotta remove the coconut from the tree! lol

    Dyno

  • wat f-in cam r u useing to zoom in 25+ yrds

and even with that rapid fire no one would get a way most of them if not all hit the plate

  • @21reese18 LOL.. I get a lot of emails regarding the camera used in my vids. It's an older model SONY model DCR-DVD108 with 40x Carl Zeiss optical zoom. It also has a 2000x Digital Zoom. Which as you can see at 30 yards, works really really good. :-) As for the accuracy on the plate, Shane's a heck of a crack shot with the AR platform. Those are all his shots on the plate. :-) (If I've understood your statement correctly.) Thanks for watching.

    Dyno

  • Later im gonna post videos of my fully customized Colt Umarex M4 OPS .22LR. Check it out!

  • Would this gun stop zombies if silver-tipped bullets were used? :P

    Great video!

  • @taofledermaus Ya know...? It just may! Though, I haven't seen any "silver tipped" .22LR rounds in my lifetime. :-) I'm for soaking the tips with "Naga Jolokia Pepper Oil" myself. (World's HOTTEST Pepper. I Love 'em!) Nah...I just made that soaking the tip thing up. Don't think it'd work on a Zombie. They're not up to feeling to much being a Zombie and all. lol.

    Hey, thanks for watching!

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 I might be mistaking Zombies (I forgot to capitalized it, don't mean to offend the Zombies) with werewolves. I almost made the mistake of melting down my wife's heirloom silver pieces to cast into bullets. whew!!! How come I haven't subscribed to you yet? dag gummit!

  • Hello does your M4 .22lr have a functional Bayonet lug is it made of steel or plastic? Are the components on your rifle identical to the real M4 .223 except for the Blowback action versus the gas impingement system of the real McCoy meaning is it made of high grade aluminium and tough carbon fiber plastic?I got the GSG AK-47 .22LR Cheap flimsy plastic on the stock reciever connection plastic scope rail base total rip off nothing like the real AK!!! Over designed to many small parts and screws!

  • @Walter5734 the M4 .22lr has a bayonet lug. It's not steel, maybe aluminium, but sure is metal. If it's just for looks, I guess you may mount one.

Inside, the rifle is nothing as a real AR. Trigger mechanism is completely different, won't interchange.

It's metal all around, only plastic is the handguard ( obviously ), pistol grip and stock,

unlike the S&W 15-22 and SigSauer 522. They all have plastic lowers and/or uppers.

  • hey, a Q... Is M4 a "powerful" rifle? Because, as we can see the shooter didn't move or "vibrate" much when he fired the shots. THX

    Nikki

  • @nikkikrisadtyo

Thanks for watching. The M4 Ops used in the review uses a .22 long rifle cartridge (Dangerous up to 1.5 Miles). The M4 that you see on TV used by Law Enforcement or by the Military uses a .223 cartridge (Dangerous up to 3.5 Miles) which is much more powerful. Now Ill say this, the M4 we are reviewing is Powerful enough to use for hunting small game, but not Powerful enough to use on Zombies. Whereas using an M4 .223 on Zombies would be a more effective tool.

    Dyno

  • For the record, this NEW POSTING METHOD BLOWS YouTube!!! A PREVIEW option would have been a better idea.

  • Does the foward assit work on this gun?

  • @bigbattles

Nope, it's just for looks. A .22LR doesn't really have any need for a forward assist. Not enough "Umph" to worry about.

    Dyno

  • Man, thanks for the video post. I just bought the M4 and went to the range with the Remington 525 box and couldn't get a round through it. Will be picking up the Federals tomorrow. Thanks again.

  • great video capturing this gun. I have one, i also love it. it is funny that i had the same problems with some old remmington rounds, i also went to the federal 500s and ive shot a box and a half without a jam. also i have a scope on mine and in 10 bullets i stayed in a group of about 3 inch diameter at about 150 yards. i was amazed.

  • That's good "shoot'n" my friend. We've found that the Remington ammo just has too much wax on the bullet tips. It fouls up the feed ramp. The Fed ammo doesn't have this issue.

Keep'm straight and in the black.

Sorry guys. I've blocked you both and removed the posts. Here in YouTube, you have the opportunity to send comments, emails directly to one and another. The sort of "Flame" posts you two were dealing back and forth should have been private. We don't like or want to see it.. Sorry again, but it was uncalled for. Dyno

  • whats the highest caliber round this rifle can fire?

  • .22 Long Rifle Only.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 Dude.. how loud is this rifle? It doesn't sound loud at all. Like, does your buddy there really need the ear protection? And would i be able to shoot it in my back yard? There's like 10 acres of woods behind my house. Don't wanna scare the neighbors though!

  • Being a .22, there is a substantial *Crack* when fired. The camera removes about 50% of the sound. (Noise canceling feature).

Ear protection is definitely needed for shooting a .22. Though the majority of us don't use protection while out in the field using it to hunt. I'm guilty of not always using Hearing protection and I've paid dearly for it. I've lost a lot of my ability to hear certain sound ranges these days.

Being back in the "woods" I wouldn't worry about the neighbors.

  • @mytactical22 Alright thanks a alot! Very helpful

  • No problem my friend. Let me know if you have other questions. I'll do my best to answer or find the answers for you.

  • Question I just bought one myself I love it other than the fact I cannot close the injection port cover, will injection port cover from an M-16/Ar15 work on this rifle, Maybe it's the Marine in me that thinks it should be closed but it kinda bugs me having it open.

  • Answer: Nope. Well, how about "not really". Notice that there is a "Half Round" notch cut out where the cover would normally latch. At least on the early models it's this way. On mine it will close, but only due to the dust cover has been slightly tweaked to do so. Umarex has started production on the HK 416. They're using the same receiver as the Colt model. In photos I've noticed they did not put the "cut out" in the upper portion of the injection port. Who knows with Umarex.

  • Using the Injection cover from from an AR/M4 may work to a point, But again, it's the "cut out" that stops the cover from staying closed. Also, I don't believe the bolt is wide enough to hit the latch to open it. Some minor "Adapt and Overcome" skills may be in order. :-) I know ya got it in ya! If you have the means and the will, you can make it happen. Otherwise, it is what it is.

  • Thanks I got a project before the super bowl...Federal 36 grain hp. 550 packs are the way to go.

  • Cool Beans! The Fed packs are the cheapest and most reliable that I've found yet. (And highly accurate!)

    Enjoy the game!

  • yeah definately a no go on remington ammo i shot some more remingtons through my gun and only shot one round and the rest were jams but my 10 22 will shoot the remington ammo just fine

  • Yup... My brother came over this past Sunday and brought with him his Ruger and a brick of Rem ammo. I warned him against it in using it in the Colt. He wanted to try anyways. JAM JAM JAM JAM... To the point he just called the rifle a POS. I gave him some Federals and Not a single FTF or FTE. Now, our Rugers, they eat everything but the "Cyclone" and I think the "Viper" rounds. Those cone shaped rounds don't feed very well.

  • @1991jarhead what kind of ammo do you shoot through the m4 and do you have the gun set on standard or high velocity.

  • ive seen many videos with thise shitty remington rounds jamming wtf

  • probably remington golden bullet. garbage ammo.

  • i have another question, i normally use CCI brand after my remington fiasco, but CCI is scarce is there another brand i can use

  • I have great luck with the Federal Bulk packs you can get from Walmart. I have had other shooters recommend Winchester ammo. I had moderate luck with Winchester. Honestly, I found the Federal Bulk packs to work best. For the money and few issues, definitely worth it in my opinion.

In addition, I have good luck with the Aguilla brand of ammo.

    Best of luck

  • federal is good. as are winchester

  • I have the same rifle, and I have a 50 percent jam rate when using remington rounds.

  • You've got more patience than I have to come up with that figure. hehe. 50% is too much for me to stomach. The "Jams" or fail to feds that you see here in the video were that last this rifle has ever seen using the Remington ammo. I stopped using it and haven't looked back since.

The feed ramp in the Smith doesn't like the "waxy" tipped Rem Ammo.

  • 5 stars for your video of course.

  • What do you think of the overall quality of this gun? Umarex is producing more or less junk, but that's just my opinion...

  • My first response of the Colt/Um was that I was impressed. Then as time went on, just like buying a used car, you begin to find more and more flaws. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy shooting this one when I pull it out of the vault. But I do enjoy shooting the S&W more.

I have to constantly remind myself that this is only a .22. Back in the late 70's early 80's there were a couple of attempts at producing tact. 22's. These are far better no matter how ya look at it.

  • Thanks, you confirm my opinion that this gun is only for hobby plinking and to have a bit fun, just like the P22. Umarex is even producing an AK47 in .22lr when I remember correctly. These two guns were tested in a German weapon magazine and they also said that this gun has a lot of flaws but they make fun, still they are crappy made.

  • I can't speak for other Umarex products as I just haven't had the experience with them. They make pellet guns. That is what I know about em. I think they have actually "Over" engineered this "Colt" to try and impress the world. Impressions are often only skin deep.

I wouldn't call it junk. It's functional and reliable. That's what counts in my book. Again, I have to remind myself that this isn't a battle ready M4. It's a hopped up .22 rifle meant for just "looking" cool.

    Thanks for watching.

  • I have experience with their blank guns and they also produce the P22 as a blank conversion which is self disassembling during shooting, which can be very dangerous still, they didn't fix it although it's a known problem. They have other issues with the zinc alloy slide which cracks after a few shots also, but these arent the .22lr guns. Maybe they can make some decent stuff too,I never had one in my hands, thanks to the crappy gun law in Germany...

  • @mytactical22 remingtons did better in my colt than the winchesters but i haven't tried federals yet

  • How was the trigger? I've heard that it is something like 9lbs. Was it a pain to shoot rapid fire with it?

  • Now this was a delayed reply. I do apologize for this.

The trigger pull isn't that bad. It's not the smoothest in the world, but not the worst either. Like any rifle, once you get used to it, it's just fine. Kinda reminded me of my 10.22 trigger before I had it replaced. :-)

  • so point in case for this rifle is dont use remingtons unless you adjust the bolt correctly?

  • Well... To avoid any "What the @$&!" is wrong with this ammo thoughts, just avoid the Remington ammo in this one all together. Others have adjusted and readjusted with the same luck. Next to none. :-)P

  • thanks for responding. I was intending on picking one of these up for my 18th birthday next sunday. the day i can actually pick it up is the day i get my cast off my wrist too.

  • Dyno... I watched a vid on either the Colt or the GSG and learned that it was the wax coating on the Remington ammo that the two didn't like. Maybe that's what caused the ammo malfunction? I just use Federals in my 10/22. I will be getting one of these Colts the 2nd of January at a gun show if I can find one. By the way, thanks for the awesome vids!! I will subscribe!!

  • Hey thanks BS. I appreciate it. I kinda figured it was the "Waxy Goodness" on the Rems. I picked up a butt load of the Federal 550 packs and have had plenty of stock in them. They worked fine and well, why fix what "ain't" broken. :-)

I won't be kicking out any vids anytime soon. I have another surgery just around the corner on my left shoulder/arm. I seemed to have lost nearly 85% strength in it. So, I can't hold up the rifle. Yep, I'm bummed. But soon to be on the mend. :)

    Merry Christmas!

  • You have a Merry Christmas too!! I really hope that surgery helps that shoulder out!! Take care!!

  • what type of gun is this ? airsoft, airgun , i dunno lol because i havent seen one that holds actual shells so im just wondering :D

  • This is a .22 cal rimfire rifle. Umarex, is the manufacturer of the rifle. Their history is/was primarily "Air Guns" (Pellet rifles) from what I understand. But I am not entirely sure. :-)P

    Dyno

  • thanks a lot mate :) thats helped :D

  • can u get it converted to full auto

  • Not that I am aware of. Personally, I don't think it would hold up to the stress of having a "Full Auto" option for very long. Would be fun for a minute or two. But in the long term, not worth the hassles, legalities, and upkeep.

  • ive got 2 of those rifles thay work the best with cci blazers or most any of the cci high velocity ammo

  • When you test fired with Federal 550 rounds was the rifle adjusted to high velocity ammo setting or was it set on standard factory setting?

  • Sorry to get back to this one so late. I've never adjusted the rifle to accommodate rounds. It fired great out of the box and well... "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." :-)P

  • I was going to make some custom displays for my local gun shop in trade for an umarex m16spr... I looked at the spec on the m4 and m16 and it shows 13.78 inch rifled lendth for both, the m16 has a 20 inch barrel, what gives? Is it useless to get the longer barrel or is there a misprint in the specs? I was hoping to have a nice companion to my M1S AR-15 in 545x39 / 20" & FF tube for squirrel harasment. What would you recommend? Oh and thanks for the nice review!

  • is it full uto?

  • NO!

  • Just took my new M4-22 out for a test run, and I had the exact same thing happen in my rife. Remingtons jammed over and over, but the Federals fed fine. I haven't measured the outer diameter of Remington brass, but I'm guessing its simply to oversized to feed properly. I would like someone at Remington to address this question. I have had this happen not only on the M4, but also in a Ruger 22/45. As the video author said, my Ruger 10/22 handles pretty much everything so far. Happy shooting.

  • Great job with the review! I liked the job you did. I was wondering, Is the lower made of aluminum like the "real" M4? Also if you do a part three could you show the inside of the lower and upper recievers? Thank you a bunch.

  • I'd lean towards the S&W myself.

  • Can you shoot subsonic ammo in this gun? PLEASE RESPOND!
