The numbers i keep seeing repeated is 35-150 but this is just known species and as industry incorporates more and more of the planet this number will go up. I would say it is well within reason to think at least 70 and as many as 200 go extinct everyday. This does not make it any less significant . It you want to survive, then you need a living environment and to have a living environment you need living organisms. Plankton are disappearing at record numbers and that should alarm everyone.

I agree 100% I have read quite a bit of Daniel Quinn's work and I doubt a lot of his "facts".

You can doubt empirical facts, but that doesn't make them any less valid.
