I absolutely adore this RS5 but there are a few things wrong with it. I don't know where audi got the 100 grand price tag from because I'm positive its not worth that much; and what's with the no manual option? I think I'd rather have an A6 with the 4.2 v8 option because its a lot cheaper than this and its more practical as well.
i couldnt wait for this car to come out. Until i found out it will not have an option for a manual gear box. Car companies are destroying the best part of driving for .02 seconds faster 0-60. Even the new M5 has flappy paddle bullshit only. I dont care how good the f1 transmission is. Im driving on the public highway not Daytona; I want to shift through gears. Who in the hell is going to take an rs5 or m5 to the track?
there ruining the best luxury sports cars and its sickening.
goontrader2 - I totally agree. Soon you might not be able to get any Ferrari with a manual transmissions (not even in Europe). As a matter of fact - they may have already stopped offering them. I prefer manuals - but it's a dying breed. Sad sad. It looks like Porsche is the only holdout... It doesn't make sense because I'm sure even if the RS5 was 50/50 in terms of how many they build with each transmission - they would still sell every one. Makes no sense to me...
I loved the S5 and now they have the unbelievable RS5. If this thing has a more powerful motor than the R8 they're probably going to change it which will be cool too. Any plans for an RS4?
Somewhat boring video. What keeps it from being a snoozer is the Ur-Quattro. Audi, please release a no holds barred Gruppe B like version of this. To hell with air con and insulation! Give us an aggressive and evil stripped down weapon.
The fact that this vid is at 4 stars and not -1 means that real Audi fans are here. We can't hear the noise, but we know what's there. We want to frighten those peons without them seeing it coming, then sit back and relax and enjoy the luxury. Then take it for a spirited drive... a drive to a track to show up Corvettes. An Audi supercar with actually turned off traction control? It'd be a cornering legend. With aircon and leather.
It's obvious, that the sound is dubbed over the footage. This seems very unprofessional to me and I can't believe it's the Germans - a very precise nation - who have done this...
As much as I love the way the RS5 looks, and how much I was looking forward to its release, this might be the most boring track footage I have ever seen. Yes, the car looks great, but throughout the entire video I kept finding myself saying "that's it?"
I think this video was directed by an art and design student who rides his bicycle to Munich Polytechnic (which possibly stars as the backdrop to a lot of the video) who has no idea regarding the capability and intention of this car..... For all his faults, Jeremy Clarkson with his mutton fists and lead foot through the floor, tyres smoking whilst screaming POWERRRRRR and running the old Quattro into a ditch would be a lot more apt?!!!
The most interesting bit in this video was to see how much bigger the RS5 is compared to the old Quattro and to me that is the whole problem with this sort of car. Size is good to move a family or a load of luggage but for driving fun big means less nimble as there is no way around the laws of physics. This is good for the Autobahn not for fun driving.
it is 4.2 liters with 450hp, formd mustang is 4.6 with 315 or 360, less than 400, audi car is more efficient than other brands, this audi uses less gasoline than a
mustang, has a smaller engine and gives more power, that thanks to the high audio technology,
think they didnt do enough with the styling for me, looks too much like an s5, does really scream RS to me, isnt special enough to look at. i mean, when u see an m3, its obviously an m3, there are quite a few changes between the 335i and m3.
@Xx42natoxX The 4.2-liter V8 remains naturally aspirated, but its breathing has been improved to bring the maximum output up to 450 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque.
@ghostrider090 this isn't actually an edit. it's usually referred to as PR b-Roll. something that media outlets are given so they can cut some footage together for a story. for some reason these cats have decided to stick this on YouTube without editing which is odd and a little lazy...
@ghostrider090 no worries. I actually used to make these videos for Mazda so I recognise them when I see them. it is strange that they have released this. they must have been so keen for the scoop that they coudn't be bothered editing the footage.
@ghostrider090, just for your information most automotive companies post these PR b-rolls for the media to edit them and put into their own news stories. and usually these b-rolls take up to 7 mins of pure footage, covering all sides and aspects of the cars. i've seen hundreds and hundreds of these from all sorts of cars. you can't deny their existence, and if you don't like it dont watch it. this is purely for automotive enthusiasts.
Don´t get me wrong, i LOOOVE both cars, a friend of mine owns a new S3 and i love driving it. But the way this video is cut and especially the sound make it look SO BORING!!!! Both cars deserve better than this....
In the 80's the need 5 Zylinders to make a Devil Sound now they need a V8 to make a Similar Sound like the old 5 Zylinder Beast...
AND Which Hobby Video Maker did make this Video ?? Sound = FAIL CUT= FAIL
Complete Video = EPIC FAIL

Pretty machine, but I'd prefer my friends Audi B6 S4 PES supercharged/inter-cooled V8 ride. It's way cheaper and faster.
He estimates it puts out close to 600 bhp and has tons of torque down low in the rev band. All for around 10 grand installed/tuned.
Here's what it sounds/looks like(different wheels and front end):

a plus is that it doesnt have the stupid carbon fiber roof the BMW M3 has, but a fast audi should always be driven by Allan McNish

why not buy a 415hp mustang? if you live in the USA it makes the most sense.

Ford Mustang?? LOL American engines from the pleistocene... and the chassis from a baby tricycle!!
kikekike69 1 year ago
track times say something different.
and the ford engine took 400+ million dollars to develop, unlike this engine that is just regurgitated.
but who cares, you won't buy a mustang because you don't like them. that's all that matters.

Is it not the same 4.2 from the RS4 that's been putting out 420(?) since the B7 debuted?
