although i value the notion of the survival of the independent record store! a lot of them overprice their stock where I live, which I find quite silly, simply because the music lover knows their stuff and what's worth what, so someone who finds a copy 5 to 10 bucks cheaper, is a loss for the more expensive retailer, multiply this by 50 customers a month and that means $500 less to pay the shop rent/overheads etc etc, so I say to any shop owner reading this, "meet us halfway and you'll survive".
This film, I could say has a powerful presence carried throughout the full time.. This story is unlike anything you will ever see, there is another world where everything is loved and appreciated...you are gonna enjoy the full of time watching this, I promise. Go to 'daving info' and watch it for free!
A much more compelling story than I expected on moovis.co.cc, with a nice ensemble cast. The plot was very good, scenes were also, and the movie kept my interest throughout with a few unexpected twists.
The music and visual effects matched perfectly and transported me into the dark dream of the grid. The important thing was not to think. See this movie on kookicá and enjoy!
This movie that you can find and enyojed on kookicá is as perfect as it could have been.. love it... I love the idea. When I see an amazing movie I'm usually mesmerized from the beginning to the end... Brilliant!
The movies was absolutely wonderful. It is fantastic and the epitome of a true actor! LOVED IT!!!!! You can see it on kookíca right now! I really love this kind of movies. Try to see it, you want regret.
at 2:00 Ian reveals the big hidden truth that all record company owners care about is money. Shocking! Isn't that what they are in business to do? The myth that evil money hungry record executives are preventing "real" artists from becoming discovered is no longer relevant in our new internet age.
guys, we have to accept it, record stores will dissapear. period. Maybe one can say that the good part of this is that record labels, might dissapear as well (wouldn't that be great?) Luckally, bands, musicians won't dissapear, neither will record studios---- (though studios might become home studios)
I used to run Platterpuss Records in Long Beach, CA - and a bunch of other stores that were a bit more mainstream. This film speaks directly to my heart.
@Chunkazoota If more women actually shopped at indy record stores (cuz women do be shoppin'). then I can see it. But the fact that women buy more than 70% of the "new country (read: shit pop crapola) plus tons of other pure shite, leaves me happy that they didn't talk to many women.
So, apparently the bad taste of the many reflects on the few who are not interested in listening to crap. The majority of PEOPLE IN GENERAL do not listen to quality music, and that includes a hell of a lot of men. Your thought processes leave something to be desired.
You're using false logic. You're not looking at the buying numbers for good genres, only "new country" (also, I question your sources of information - care to provide them?). That's a biased and incomplete sample, like saying dogs are better than cats because 70% of cats threw up on the carpet at least once. It makes no sense.
buy from independent sellers online like me, Dave Jones Reverberation Music (24 years in the biz), too expensive to do physical stores anymore. Much more organized online at least for me (those that do it right at least). Cool seeing Encore in Ann Arbor & Chomsky (wtf he doing in this docu! gotta see it).
People should see what it's like in Vancouver now. The downtown core has one major music store (HMV) which is no longer selling back catalog CDs (just new releases and "on sale" items such as 2 for $20, etc.) and there is one indie store close by which is a pretty shitty one. There used to be quite a few stores to go to say 20 or 30 years ago but I guess people just don't give a fuck anymore about music, or at least, the music buying experience.
It's sad that small businesses go out of business in general, but the reality is that even big retailers like Best Buy don't sell CDs anymore. It's all online now. For indie artists there are still outlets to get their music heard and sold, eg CD Baby. But it's all going digital now. If I have time I'll check out the movie at the SF Documentary Festival, kicking off on October 16, next.
Hi guys! I was really hoping you would upload this to ALL~MOST FAMOUS VIDEO REVIEW MAGAZINE. We are magazine compiled by thousand of international music enthusiast. Please upload this video to the network and it will display to over 250 networks in one minute. Tell your friends! LINK ON MY PAGE.
This is beautiful... I'll watch it again and again. And I used to live across the street from Flo's Diner. I miss it lots! But I miss my local record stores WAY more.
I live in Los Angeles and I miss every Mom & Pop store that has ever closed, no body cares about what make a city a home anymore. Enjoy your Starfucks and Ballmarts, because there all thats left to you now. :-(
okay believe what you want. but please keep it to yourself. I dont care if you say it to someone else but dont say it to someone who cares about Epitaph.
The music industry is banking on lifestyle now, not music. There's no money in selling music anymore. There's money in lifestyle and branding. One sad word: Emo
For musicians it's a catch 22. The internet is a great way to get music heard but when there's 16 million other bands/artists trying to get heard it's like: What's the point?
Whats the point? The fun of making music, thats what. Make music for yourself and it will be 1. good and 2. fun. Make it for other people and it will fail on both accounts.
@ForOctavioPaz the answer is built in to the trailer. Build a strong regional following first. That's how bands like Aerosmith, The Mighty Mighty Boss Tones, The Grateful Dead, Blondie, The Ramones, etc...all did it.
There are so many honest, genuine people in this film it's definitely worth watching.
