I have 2 projects with ethnic samples in each. I would like to pick some from one project into another, but actually their file names appear like 01,02,03 WAVs but in FG the names appear correctly, so I am unable to identify the samples I want in the sample folder to copy, please adivse

  • @kazazyan1 Hello, look for the video in about a week.

    Take care, -Ed.

  • Hey there diazeo. I have a hopefully easy question...what cable are you using to connect the fantom g8 to the computer? Nobody at Best Buy knows...and I can't seem to find the answer anywhere online. Please help!!!

  • @raychizkool Just a USB cable.Remember that the Fantom G can be used an interface. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

    -Ed.

  • Hey Ed. I just ordered my G6. You have already helped me more than reading all of the G series manual. And I haven't even touched the keyboard yet!

  • in order to import the samples do we need to connect the keyboard to ur computer?

  • Great tutorial. Im buying a Fantom G8 myself and will be watching your page

in the future for some great teaching how to use all the features.

I looked at many keyboards Tyros4 and Korg M3 but decided to go with

a Fantom G8. Looking forward to some fun with it.

  • Hi I have a fantom x8 is the sampling process the same ?

  • Hi, every time I sampling a song I created in fantom to sample and try to save it it says memory full, but I have 96% free?? plz help

  • hey ed.. when i import the samples i get a messege frm the fantom saying illegal file.. help

  • @telsaint Hello. Make sure that you are using Wav. or AIFF. files. The Fantom G will not accept mp3 files or any other files. If you are using mp3 files, convert them to Wav. files. Try that and see how if works for you.

  • Hello Ed. I have lots of drums samples on my computer that I would like to use on my fantom g. Is it possible to make sub-folders inside the import folder, which will help better organize my sample library?

  • @djpioneer937 Hello. Unfortunately you cannot make subfolders within the IMPORT folder. I'm about to shoot a video on making Rhythm Kits from samples. This would make it possible for you you have your samples organized by Rhythm Kits. Each Fantom G project allows you to store 2000 samples within the project on a USB thumb drive. Hopefully this will be a good solution to your question. Take care, -Ed.

  • Aa Ok thank you !

  • So you do have to import then , and then its stored on its hard drive ?

  • @Patrick19702210 Yes. The samples will be stored within the current project that you are in, which will be drawn from USB thumb drive. Make sure and upgrade the ram and use a USB thumb drive. Remember that the Fantom can only work with as many megabites of samples as you have ram installed in it. The samples WILL NOT save internally in the Fantom G. They will save to the USB thumb drive within a Project. The Fantom G does not technically have a hard drive.

  • Ed ur an excellent teacher! Thank u 4 ur time and knowledge. Please keep them coming.

  • Hi Ed, and thanks for your great videos !

Shouldn't you apply pre-emphasize before normalization when importing samples to the Fantom G ?

  • @StarnodeControl Applying Emphasis is totally up to you. I suggest using Normalize so you don't have issues with sample volume being way too loud or too soft. Emphasis, Boosts/limits the high frequency range; Fantom G Manual, pg.266. Just remember that its your music, so if you want to apply Emphasis, go ahead. Try it out and see how it works for you. I just tried to give you some guidelines to get you going. Take care, -Ed. :)

  • @diazeo Thanks for your answer Ed ! It has been told that the Fantom G does attenuates the high frequencies by default on its output, hence the necessity to pre-emphasize when importing a sample not recorded by your Fantom G. Do you confirm that ?

  • You're really my best teacher, thank you a lot

    Roman

  • thanks again for your vids. Do you import midi the same way?

  • Great work Ed!!!!

  • thanks ed
