  • What an insane crimminal. I love when the Easter Bunny takes out a gun.

  • Simply outstanding Witt both then and now.

  • lol 2:38

  • 8 people did not know the job was dangerous when the took it.

  • super chicken is the shit.

  • You can't do that to my friend!

    why not?

becauuse he looks horrible in stripes.

well ill put him in polka dots then.

  • I think Fred is gay and Jewish.

  • anybody recognize the voice of the cop? George Carlin

  • Fred put a little salt around the rim of the glass, making a super sauce margarita. Funny stuff.

  • Seeing SC and all of Jay Wards shows first as a little kid when the jokes didn't quite sink in, watching them over the years I can appreciate their genius in combining extreme whimsy with cynicism. That was Ward's gift. If you don't laugh at life you cry.

  • The scrawny, under-developed chicken became a scrawny, over-developed Super Chicken!

  • Mr.Glogowski?

  • Shouldn't have anyone smoking in a cartoon.

  • "He's got a gun!"

"Let him have it Easter Bunny"

That's classic!! You'd never see a line that great in a cartoon today.

  • Peabody and Sherman, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Boris and Natasha, Dudley Do-Right, Hoppity Hooper, Fillmore Bear, and Professor "Uncle" Waldo Wigglesworth make cameos at the beginning of the episode. Talk about a reference to the other Jay Ward cartoons.

  • @Rtkat3 Hoppity Hopper and Uncle Waldo wasn't Jay Ward created, I guess.

  • @heine71 At least the production of the show involved Jay Ward.

  • A blast from the past!!!THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

  • Superchicken is a true great cartoon. Nostalgic and still a great cartoon for kids these days.

  • "No time to explain...Fred". LOL

I've been using that line for years.

This stuff is WAY better than Dragonball Z or Pokemon.

  • The Easter Bunny was actually "Louis the Lapin". "Lapin" is French for "rabbit".

  • It almost sounds like Daws Butler voices the Easter Bunny. Any objections?

  • @Rtkat3 -- I think that the Easter Bunny was voiced by Paul Frees (who voiced Boris Badenov in Rocky and Bullwinkle). The bank tellers sound like Daws Butler.

  • Everyone knows the Red Carrot Hotel is for traveling Easter Bunnies.

  • Super Chicken is greatness!!

The line, "You knew the job was dangerous when you took it" is a line that Super Chicken often uses in the various episodes. I first heard that line 35-40 years ago when I was a small kid. I think of that line often and use it sometimes when joking around with others.

I miss the old days of the Jay Ward cartoons (Bullwinkle, George of the Jungle, Fractured Fairy Tailes, etc).

  • I use that line a lot, too. In fact, I used it last night on a Facebook friend, but she'd never seen Super Chicken (!), so I got on YT to find an example for her. That led me to rosscarlson's channel, and I made an instant fan of her. :)

Hey, is your username in reference to Quick Draw McGraw?

  • "The powerful sauce took effect" lol, sounds like brandy

  • They always implied that Superchicken was hittin' the sauce.

They couldn't get away with that anymore. They couldn't get away with "Mr. Terrific" getting his powers from Power Pills nowadays, either. Ralph Bakshi couldn't even get away with Mighty Mouse getting his powers by smelling a flower: Jerry Falwell insisted that it was a metaphor for snorting coke. (He also maintained that Tinky Winky, the purple Teletubby, was gay.)

    We have gone stone-cold f/k-nuts.

  • Thanks for the info, agree with you wholeheartedly. I think the cartoons kids are watching nowadays are melting their brains. All my friends grew up watching this kinda stuff and we all turned out to be really good people. The kids now don't have any of this stuff we grew up with yet all I see are whole lot of mentally disturbed, crooked degenerates around me.

  • *lmao @ 'aw shut up'*

It must have been 25 years or so that I haven't seen this. I am freaking laughing my ass of here. I still dig it.

  • the easter bunny robs a bank.....and super juice is alchohal

  • my husband said he watched this cartoon when he was little. I never saw it until today. He was right. thanks LOL

  • Props to Jay Ward.

  • Jay Ward is god.

  • What! No chocolate covered easter eggs?!!!

"You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred." ~ Superchicken

  • omg! i love the intro! i play it as a taunt in some mmos XD

  • NVR trust the easter bunny, could be robber in disgize, let ths be a lsson 2 u cuz the easter bnny is dngerous, nd sper chicken expsed him fr what he rly is

  • does anybody else feel that the time has come for a Super Chicken revival?.....hey, they did it for George Of The Jungle, why not Super Chicken and Fred?.......

  • Is that Mel Brooks doing the voice of Fred?

  • Voice-over artist extraordinaire Paul Frees was Fred (Super Chicken was voiced by Bill Scott).

  • You know,30 years ago I wondered why my parents got as big a kick outta these cartoons as I did.I see now it was on a different level.when Super Chicken downs the secret sauce, and Fred tells him about the salt around the rim?Classic!!

  • nojoda too fucking hell yehaaa jajja d venezuela super pollo burda de bueno.-!!

  • "You don't wanna wake up with no Easter eggs, do ya?" Could that have been a double entendre?

  • yeah, i heard "easter eggs" is an std from southwest asia.

  • heee hee, funny how he goes into the closet to change, but then on his front anyway he comes out more naked then when he wears his 'normal' clothes :)

  • You knew the job was dangerous when you took it! Hilarious!

  • Great! I haven't seen these shows now for gasp!? forty years? Who was Fred's voice? Anyone ever wonder or explain why his F was usually backwards? Once upon a time there was a Jay Ward museum on the Sunset Strip in LA. Still there? I saw another episode here about a toupee that ran amok. too LOL hilarious, stuff. You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred. There's no such word as fail. Tom Slick.Watch out for that tree! George of the Jungle and Ape Don't make em like they used to babe.

  • The 'Super Chicken' episode you're looking for is titled 'The Wild Hair'.

    Cheers!

    Valkyrie Ziege Mourne

  • The toupee episode was the greatest, esp when SC tells the toupee that the draft board classified it 1A. Good stuff.

  • super chicken is funny but somrtimes it is so wierd

  • I haven't seen or heard about super chicken in 11 years.

    Good grief

  • lllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllll\

  • just call super chicken!

    BAGAWK!! X3 rotfl

  • hahahah this is hilarious stoned LOL

  • great cartoon--i dont remember being in this one ,i mean ever seeing it--this is one of the best episodes of super chicken--it was the middle cartoon between GEorge and tom slick--but its the best--with bill scott's voice --puk puk--he did as well- George / Super Chicken / Tom Slick / Gertie Growler (voice)

  • lol bunnies with guns, shop windows saying "DRUGS", a chicken drinking martinis for power - why can't cartoons get away with this stuff anymore? Super Chicken was one of my favourites!

  • this looks like the old gorge of the jungle

  • his super "sauce" came from a martini glass!

    That's great writing!

    Alcohol makes you strong!

  • if i ever rob a bank i know what im gonna dress up as :)

  • lol nice and then I'll have to dress up as super chicken and drink the super sauce and then I'll....*urp**drunk*who r u?!*passes out*lmao

  • lolz at this :P

  • I loved super chicken..also check out fractured fairy tales..so funny. Thanks for putting this on!

  • Man, just in time for Easter!!!

    Thanks!

    Cluck, Cluck, Cluck, Cluck!!!

  • OMG... Super Chicken!!!

  • One of the funniest Super Chicken cartoons ever. I love the line when the bunny pulled out a gun at the teller and the woman says, ''Let him have it, Easter Bunny.''

  • yay crazy old woman

  • there was a LOT of gun fire in these cartoons!

  • BEST. CARTOON. THEME. SONG. EVER!

    This and "Underdog".

  • i know right its ficken awesome

  • This is so awesome, im lucky i found it on youtube. Its a shame they put that new george of the jungle piece of shit on teletoon instead of this classic.

  • Yeah, it is rubbish, innit? Doesn't even LOOK like a Jay Ward cartoon. SO GLAD the series is out on DVD now. Wish I could find it.

  • its out on dvd? i am so buying it if i can find it. yeah im lucky my dad was so down for george of the jungle otherwise there is no way i would know about it.

  • hmm.. if your popular enough, you van get away with anything. Something many a DUI star has shown us again and again.

  • where can i get some super sauce

  • It happens the same to me, KodeBloo!Ahahah

  • Fred ("i put a little salt on the rim!")would be the second gay cartoon character in history - the first of course would be Snaglepuss.("exit! stage right!")

  • @jackhillty -- Super Chicken's pal "Fred" is modeled on comedian Ed Wynn (1886-1966). Wynn's shtick was playing simpletons, often with a lisp (e.g., he was the voice of "the Mad Hatter" in Disney's animated "Alice in Wonderland" (1951)).

  • whats in the super sauce?

  • 151, Grenadine and methamphedamine.

  • I wish they made cartoons the way they used to make them.

  • I KNEW it would be on youtube!

I tell people at work when they screw up, "you knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred!"

They look at me like, "huh?".

I answer, "You never heard of Super Chicken?"

    "No."

    "George of the Jungle?"

    "Oh, the movie?"

    Nevermind.

  • I use "you knew the job was dangerous when you took it" in my law practice all the time refering to the "Assumption of the Risk" doctrine. I call it the Super Chicken Defense.... nobody knows what I'm talking about either.... but I appreciate your obvious brilliance.

  • I'm a Prosecutor and I've used this line too. I was cross examining a drug dealer who got shot and I asked him " but you knew the job was dangerous when you took it, right? He actually starting laughing ( as did a few of the jurors) because he used to watch it on tv as a kid. Great stuff!

  • So jerry seinfeld didn't make it up for that TV spot....

  • Cluck, cluck, cluck, cluck! Buckaaaa!!!

I forgot how clever these things were written - hi "EB" ;-)

  • Terrific!! Thanks Bede for the heads up. Go Super Chicken and Jay Ward!

  • Thank you so much for posting this!! I didn't think I'd ever see this cartoon again!

    You're my new hero!

  • Fred is pure gold! And Super Chicken is fun too of course!

  • Ha ha. This cartoon is hella old. Remember watching it as a kid on the Rocky and Bullwinkle show.

  • From back in the day when America was real.

  • Perfect

  • OMIGOD!!! I LOVED this cartoon when I was a kid!!! I can't believe that I found this here!!!

  • to the super coop, roger wilcox!!

  • God bless you! These are great. Haven't seen them in over 30 years!

  • I haven't seen this show in years!!

  • wait...stop at 1:27 it says DRUGS! lol thats odd.

  • Not so odd; back then it was common to use the word "DRUGS," to indicate a Drug Store.

  • Aw that bunny suit is cute! ;) I know, it's probably because I'm a furry

  • I love the marshmallow peeps refference. I know that Jay ward himself was a candy enthusiest (he really loved Jelly bellies.

  • Wow to bad with current fcc rules this shit would never fly but this video is awsome

  • wow... thatz like an old cartoon, but its good

  • The old cartoons are the best.

  • It's really fun to see Super Chicken after all this time. Those voices are classics! And it's a nice gift to give my friends thru e-mail.

Keep it up...we're depending on you!

    Thanks, Mary Ellen

  • This is great. Takes me back to childhood.

  • GOD bless the people that made it possible for me to see super chicken the first time and now!

  • For all the Jay Ward completists out there: Note the cameo by Hoppity Hooper, Waldo Wigglesworth & Fillmore Bear at the start of the episode (along with Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right, et. al.) Probably the only time Hoppity's ever been seen on Cartoon Network.

  • super chicken rules
