1961 Chevrolet Impala SS

In 1986 when I was 17 I had the chance to buy a mint Impala SS. I remember the speaker in the middle of the backseat and stuff. I just could not afford it. My town was in love with the Chevelles ...I mean you couldn't toss a rock without hitting one...but not me..i wanted that SS more than anything ...I just could not afford it :( probably my biggest ever car loss in my life.

nice car......in the early seventies I had a 1963 canadian built chevy biscayne

I think the engine was a 283 V8...........the Biscayne in Canada was the model below the Impala.....poor mans Impala I guess. I don't know if they had the Biscayne name plate in the USA...did they?

I had a factory '61 Impala SS, but it had the "348" 3 deuce set up, and a 3 speed on the column (believe it or not). Later I had a '62 Impala SS with the factory 409 4 speed (on the floor). I've been told that you could order your Impala with any option you wanted back then......as long as you were willing to special order and PAY IN ADVANCE. ;-)
