Might have been John Valentin, but probably Mo Vaughn - both Valentin and Vaughn played together at Seton Hall in NJ. Vaughn's a NJ guy.
This story cant be true. Ryan blew his elbow tendon out in '93. Nomar joined the Sox in late '96 as a September callup and his rookie year was in '97.
Agreed- I thought maybe it was a spring training at-bat, but couldn't have even been that since Nomar's forst year of pro ball was 1994--the year after Nolan retired. Funny story, though.
