Portal Level 18 Advanced

I used the same method to get to across the gap but didn't create the portal on the surface above in mid air. Instead, I used a trial and error method witha bit of luck of getting over. I created a portal to get into the little shining cube compartment, made a portal above that on the main wall, stood on the THRESHOLD of the portal, shot a portal to any surface in the distance above me through the little crack of visibility, went through that portal and got lucky and fell one the corner at 0:26

I love how many ways there are to beat every level. I beat this level in a completely different way.

You open a portal there and another in front of the platform you try to reach and then you fall and you open a second portal while falling, which gives you enough speed to actually fly above the platform and open a portal on it. You can then go into the other portal and you are on the platform.

It's a little complicated to explain and it's rather tricky, but it's fun to do.

at 0:21 I know another way to get to the upper platform without using the stepping block he uses. You can notice that if you go the closest possible to the edge of the place you just landed on, you can actually see a very small portion of portal-friendly wall from the beggining part.

The last part of this level isn't any different from the original, "easy" version of the level, is it?

@dstebbin yes, it is. in the original, it goes straight into the room with no raised upper platform. the first one is lower, so you can shoot a portal on it, in the easy one. in the original, it comes out to a raised platform in front of the room, and the first platform is higher, so that you have to be up there to get on. also, the raised platform is made out of anti-portal walls, so it's a son of a b**** to get back xD

@dstebbin The last section is a little different. The entry portal disappears as you pass through it, so you only have one chance to make each shot.

How do you perform the jump between 2:12 and 2.16? I tried it the same way but I don't come near enough to reach the blue portal at 2:15. Is it a lot of luck?

jesus christ you suck: all your shenanigans around 1:10 to cross the water are sloppy and unnecessary

To get to the lower room with the switch, just shoot a portal in the floor below (at the water's level) and then go back to an earlier section where you can fall into a second portal. You'll come flying up from the floor here and can easily land inside the switch room. After that, it's easy to get to the cube room above: just flip the switch and portal yourself through the now-raised door.

if you find this hard take out the turrets by placeing a portal where they aim the put the other portal in one of the areas a plasma ball hits then let the plasma ball do its job

One thing I found a little easier is when you face the room with the turrets, place the portal like in the videos, but when you step out of the blue one, shoot an orange portal against the wall to skip the gap, quickly back up through the blue one before you fall- you land into the little room with the red button.

..I just made holes in the walls behind the guns, and jumped on their platforms... took some tries, but got all of them gone..

I did too. I got the first gun with the camera. Then, I used portals to launch myself at other platforms from behind the guns.
