  • Nice vault but it's not called a Kasumatsu double Tsuke Triple Twist, that vault would be simply... ridiculous lol

  • @lawler123 he gave both names for the same vault: Kasamatsu double and tsuk triple. he is justin spring he knows the code better than most.

  • This vault is simply amazing.

  • that was the best triple twisting suke ever

  • This vault rocks my world.

  • totaly would have made vault finals if he did this in beijing

  • A Kasamatsu style vault is one that basically is a cartwheel that ends up facing away from the table.

A Tsukahara style vault is a roundoff, you end up facing the vault table.

A Kasamatsu implies a half twist in the post-flight, so it would be a Kasamatsu double because he ends up facing the vault.

A Tsukahara vault twists away from the first hand that touches the vault, so if your left hand touches first, you'll twist to the right, because that's the direction you have to twist to square up.

  • Yes. That is the most simple definition of a Kasamatsu that I've heard. I'm going to steal it from you, thanks.

  • Wouldn't it be a kaz 2 1/2, since there are three twists, and the first half twist happens post-flight?

I've never been clear on kas vs. tsuk anyway, so pardon if I'm wrong.

  • Nah you're fine, it gets kinda tricky. The title is wrong, there isn't actually 3 twists. There's 2 1/2 total, and the implied half leaves you with a double twist.

  • Beautiful! That was a gorgeous vault. And you almost stuck it!

  • Holy crap that was beautiful!

  • a kasamatsu is when you enter the vault twisting one way and block off the other direction. twisting tsuks are when you twist the same way as you entered, justin is doing a kasamatsu double

  • That's what I thought.

Why do they have two different names for essentially the same skill? Does it really matter which way you turn?

  • well a twisting tsuk is actually harder because you have to wait on the flip to block off before twisting, a kasamatsu u can block off right away and begin to twist. they technically are the same skill but a kasamatsu is the easier way to do it, which is why most people do a kas. u cant really twist a tsuk more than a full unless your extremely skilled

  • Are you meaning to say you have to wait longer to twist on a Tsuk than a Kas? Why?

Also, I thought most people twisted the same way they did a round-off, so how would they learn to change either of these on vaulting? That's a big adjustment I would think. It's like learning to write with the other hand.

  • that is most definetly a triple twist, aka the lopez, aka kasamatsu double twist

  • the name of the vault is completely wrong. its just a 'tsukahara doudle striaght twist' so i dunno why they put 'triple' and 'full' in the name !

  • The name IS wrong. The Tsukahara and the Kasamatsu are two different vaults. Justin did a double twisting Kasamatsu, which is a quarter turn on to the horse and 3.25 twists in the air. For it to be a Tsukahara triple, he would have had to do a half turn onto the horse and 3 twists off.

  • Both entries are 1/4 turn. Tsuks are not half ons they are a 1/4. Its merely a twisting issue. They are valued the same so what does it truely matter. I'm truely sick of this continual arguement on kas or tsuk...I really wish USAG would put up and article properly explaining the two vaults to put this debate to a final rest.

  • that couldnt be kasmatsu triple be cuse if you enter the twist facing foward and he finnished facing the table. but that was so awesome.

  • the twist starts to be counted in the second flight (once he lifts off the vault). he does 2. and the name 'tsukahara' means he did a round-off (half turn) onto the vault with a sault befor landing.

  • i got it now thanks for clearing it up fur me

  • dumbf**k...normally doing this vault is same wif DRILL YR LANDING TO the ground..how is it possible to land with body straight? fuckign crazy.. even ri jongsong or popescu coudn't do it.. the guy seems to be can't understand hwo difficult the skill is...its worth 7.0 starting value surely its not tat easy to be perfect..

  • wow nice vault

  • I thought that tsuk was 1/2 turn on, back flip variation off, while kas was 1/4 twist on, 3/4 twist off into backflip variation... I could be totally wrong though, i get them mixed up all the time.

  • What is that (number of flips and twists)? And what is the difference of Kas and Tsuk? And why don't people do any one arm or hecht type vaults?

  • it's 3 twists and technically 2 flips...a kas is a tsuk with a full twist and hechts aren't worth anything anymore

  • one arm vaults were banned

  • I thought that a Kas was a tsuk but you twist the opposite way. Like i am a righty so instead of twisting right I would twist left. The biggest difference is is a Kas you kind of roll into the twist

  • that makes no sense, if you're going to half on or 1/4 on to the table left hand first, you would have to continue twisting left. kind of like doing a roundoff to the right but twisting left. i tsuk double fulled when i was a gymnast.

  • that was absolutely amazing, i've done them into a pit before

  • Wow, very nice. Now see if you can land it with your chest up, lol
