This isn't Bootsy on drums, or Bass 4 that matter, this is "BIGFOOT" Brailey!! The dead giveaway is his trademark fill( like the intro of Tear The Roof Off...), & his drum sound, which, since they( Clinton & crew) were known 4 recording hours upon hours, & the fact that both singles/albums were released in the same year, it may all be from the same session/s! Gaff Tape/Old Heads/Paper & Tea Towels/no bottom heads + Bigfoot= P FUNK Drumz!!! makes yo face/nose krinkle up!! LOL.....FUNK BABY!!!
I'm loving it ppl are still commenting on this song. So cool to know ppl still dig hard work like the time they put into making this song...This one of my Jams..I know you all like SirNose D'voidoffunk if u dig this..
William "Bootsy" Collins is the drummer on this track. Renny Jones is on bass. Glen Goins and Garry Shider are on guitar. Garry Shider, George Clinton, and Fuzzy Haskins are on vox.
@heckto35 Yea I know =) But it really pisses me of when people cant see the resemblance between r.black, Britney Spears and lady gaga. Its all the same shit. =)
@heckto35 Well yea maybe I was a little harsh, but after hearing this a million times over it got a little annoying. Do not get me wrong this is better than the fore mentioned artists but maybe it just isn´t my cup of tea.
P.S. I don't listen to bull but I do listen bulls on parade once in a while. =)
@Auraruth8 Alright. That's better put. Cause this shit, is on the one! These guys were pretty strange on record, and especially in concert. And bulls on parade is a good song, better than Lady gaga, and that other B.S.!
@n64wilbert Seen it. =) And how can you like that idiot whats his name I cant remember the one who often says: Well if you where on an Island and you began trading bla bla. He is a little shortsighted in my opinion.
Or maybe you found it funny well anyway forget about him. =)
Well you will learn more history soon enough, there you find what you need to know. =)
Thank you for this post. I bought this album when it was 1st released because of this song. It was the 1st song from this album that the radio station played. I loved the whole album. I still have it, but now I have to buy it on cd.
@MrQuedog84 Yeah, I discovered that some days ago watching the landing of the mothership in his 1976 houston concert some times.
First I thought GC only arrived as Dr. Funkenstein when the mothership landed, but I noticed he didn't actually come out of the contraption, but was raised from the false landing pad. Hehe.
So Grady Thomas is the "sheik" and Calvin Simon is the one also playing congas.
@AzzameenMonkey george clinton is the only one depicted on parliament album covers only on funkadelic albums will you see other members and they appear in cartoon form most of the time

I remember Z-93® in Winston-Salem, North Carolina giving this song a chance, and even though this song never made the Top 40 (or even the Hot 100), it just goes to show you that radio today just wants to keep it safe! I have a snippet of the Z-93 aircheck from back then, I'm gonna have to try and upload it...
Strange, I only JUST found out about Royksopp and Parliament and I had no idea Royksopp's song 'happy up here' was based on the opening riff to this...
It will be a very very long time before we hear quality musicianship like this again. They took the time to arrange and write and orchestrate their music.
@Easygoingbass Seriously, turn off the fucking radio and open your eyes and you'll see that there's still plenty of amazing music by great artists being made. Ignorant fuck. :)
@Easygoingbass well you still have artists like this but they don't get much notoriety because mainstream music is all about feeding us poop for profit. Corporate america is very sinister.
Man, i went to a mostly black school in jr high and was in a cross-aged tutoring class that was bussed to the elementary schools. The bus driver had a cassette player so one day I took this cassette with me and asked "would you play this, please?". She looked at me all clean cut white boy lookin and said "Sure, Hun". I turned and grinned at my friends and we partied on that bus there and back! Needless to say, the driver never played another tape for me again...LOL

Which one of the Parliament singers is the one depicted on the cover with the "split" afro and winged outfit?
He sings the song on the 1976 concert, but I haven't been able to identify him completely.
I've narrowed it down to either being Calvin Simon or Grady Thomas. (The other then being the one in the "Sheik" outfit.)
AzzameenMonkey 1 year ago
@AzzameenMonkey That is G/. Clinton
