DMV makes you bring a bunch of documentation as proof of identity when you obtain a license. They accept this proof and then issue a license with your photo on it, but they won't accept that license as valid proof of identification when you come back to renew it, or get a change of address. If the DMV won't accept a photo license that they issued as valid identification, then the license must be useless and so was giving all that proof. I bet the same thing happens with the Real ID.

You have that right. It was delayed to December 2009, with full implementation by 2012. By then, when you go in to renew your driver's license you'll probably be issued National/Real ID instead.

good thing is I got my passport before the chips were used.. I also expressed my concern towards the people in my own cityhall. That those RFID chips can be scanned almost anywhere.. People can keep track of where you go.. Shops can see who came into their stores. I didn't see them using this yet.. But I would not be surprised if such kind of monotering system will become active.. time will tell..

The video says that the National ID card is coming in May 2008. And it did in some states! However, it has been pushed back to December 2009 for most states. Please pass this info on so people don't blow it off as incorrect!

You have that right. It was delayed to December 2009, with full implementation by 2012. By then, when you go in to renew your driver's license you'll probably be issued National/Real ID instead.

No, what it does is presume you are a terrorist first, and must have to "register" to prove you are not. It's another step in the erosion of personal freedoms. Next is all your medical and financial information on an implantable GPS trackable RFID chip. In the future if you protest the government and push your rights to free speech they can just shut it off and you won't be able to work, travel, receive medical care, buy, or sell.

A lot of work effort and money has been put in to this project. many other countries in the world already have such national ids. but for now they are doing national drivers license NOT NATIONAL ID YET. if it turns in to RFID then the implant chips are not far.
